Provide medical care to the pupils, members of staff and to visitors while on site. Promote health education throughout the School community and taking effective preventative health measures. Work with staff, pupils and governors to develop health-related policies (e.g. sound nutrition, physical activity, 'healthy lifestyle') and

develop new initiatives in response to new research findings, examples of good practice or new policy initiatives. Work with the Under Master and other designated members of staff, particularly the School Counselor and School Doctor, to help to identify and act to safeguard children at risk of or suffering from physical (including self-harm), sexual, emotional abuse or neglect as outlined in the Every Child Matters agenda (2004.). Work with the School Counselor in terms of offering support and advice to young people concerned with issues of sexual identity and/or sexual health, and help to develop peer health education schemes. Sit as an ex officio member of the Pastoral Planning Committee, chaired by the Under Master, and deliver PSHE lessons or lectures. Attend twice-termly meetings of the medical team, chaired by the School Doctor; and twice-termly meetings of the House Matrons, chaired by the Under Master. Maintain an appropriate level of training in all areas of practice.
