ThisguideisaimedatallstaffthatmightusetheConnectPlustest deliverysystemataTestCentre.ItintroducesConnectPlusandprovides aguidethroughthestepsrequiredtosetupandrunatest.

Introduction
Byfollowingthisguide,youwillbetakenthroughthestepsrequiredtoprepareandrunacomputer basedtestwithinConnectPlus. Tohelpyouunderstandthewholesystem,youwillplaytheroleofaCentreAdministrator(theperson responsibleforgettingthingsreadyforthetest),aSittingAdministrator(thepersonresponsiblefor startingatestandmonitoringit,oftenaninvigilatororproctor)andaCandidate. Westronglyrecommendthatallstaffwhowillbeusingthesoftwarearetakenthroughtheprocessof starting,runningandfinishingtests(Steps68inthisguide).Also,staffwhowouldberesponsiblefor managingthesystemshouldfollowallthestepsinthisguide.

WhatdoIneed?
Torunthroughthesestepsyouwillneedthefollowing: 2computersrunningWindowsXPand/orMacOSX10.5(orhigher); bothcomputersshouldbeonthesamenetworkandwithaccesstotheinternet; permissions(sufficientuserrights)toinstallsoftwareontothesecomputers;and accesstoaprinter.

Thisguideassumesyouarealreadyregisteredonthesystemandhaveausernameandpassword.

1.Loggingin
Ononeofyourcomputers,pleasego tothewebsite https://centre.connectplus.rm.com andloginusingyourusernameand password. Youwillnowseethehomepageof theTestCentrewebsite(shown).

2.SettingupaTestSittingAdministratorComputer
TheTestSittingAdministrationsoftwareisusedtocontrolandmonitoratestforexample,tostarta test,pauseatestandviewwhichcandidatesaretakingthetest. TheCurrentComputerStatussectionofthehome pageindicatesthenumberofcomputersonwhich testsoftwarehasbeendetected. ClickontheCurrentComputerStatuslink(shown) togototheComputerstab,showingwhich computershavehadtestsoftwareinstalled. ClickonthebuttonDownloadthe latestversion(shown)togotothe Softwaredownloadpage.

OntheSoftwaredownloadpageclickon thelinktodownloadtheversionofTest SittingAdministrationsoftwareforyour computer(Windowsshown). Ifyouareunsurewhethertoselect64bit download,seethenoteattheendofthis documentforhelp.Ifyouareanetwork administrator,orifyouarefamiliarwith networkmanagement,youcouldchoose todownloadanetworkpackageversion oftheWindowsdownload. Thedownloadmaytakeawhile,dependingonthespeedofthecomputeryouareusing,yournetwork andyourinternetconnection.OnMaccomputersyouwillneedtomakeanoteofthesetupdetails displayedandthenenterthesewhenyoufirstrunthesoftware. Windows:Whenasked,clicktorunthesoftwareandproceed witheachstepoftheinstallation,clickingnextorOKas appropriate.Ifyouseecommunicationerrorsatanystage,we suggestyouaskanetworkadministratorforhelpand/orreferto theUserGuidethatcanbeaccessedfromthehelpmenuatthe topofthescreen.
IfyourCentreusesaProxy Server,youmayneedtoenter yourWindowsusernameand password.

Mac:WhenthesoftwarehasdownloadeditwillappearinaCDROMfolderonyourdesktop.Createa newfolderandthendragthecontentsoftheCDROMfolderintoyournewfolder.Clicktorunthe softwareandenterthedetailsyounotedabove. WhentheinstallationandregistrationprocessiscompletetheTestSittingAdministrationsoftwarewill startup.ClickExittoquitthesoftware. ThecomputerisnowfullyinstalledandreadytoruntheTestSittingAdministrationsoftware. ClickthelinkatthetopofthepagetoreturntotheComputerspage,youwillsee(inafewminutes) thatthecomputeronwhichyouhavejustcompletedtheinstallationnowshowsonthescreen.

3.SettingupaCandidateComputer
TheCandidatesoftwareisusedbythecandidatestoactuallysita test.Whensettinguparealtest,youwillneedtosetupenough candidatecomputersforallyourcandidatestositat,butforthis introductoryguide,wewillkeepthingssimpleandjustsetup one.

Note:Itisnotpossibletoinstall boththeCandidateSoftware andTestAdministration Softwareonthesamecomputer.

Tokeepthingseasy,carryoutthefollowingstepsonyoursecondcomputer(theoneyouhavenotused yet). Logintothewebsite,asinstep2aboveandclickontheComputerstab ClickontheDownloadthelatestversionbuttonandthenclickonthelinktodownloadtheversionof theCandidatesoftwareforyourcomputer(Windowsshown). Thismaytakeawhile,dependingonthe speedofthecomputer,yournetworkand theinternetconnection.OnMac computersyouwillneedtomakeanote ofthedetailsdisplayedandthenenter thesewhenyoufirstrunthesoftware. Windows:Whenprompted(and dependingonyourbrowsertype),clickto runsoftwareandproceedthrougheach stage. Mac:WhenthesoftwarehasdownloadeditwillappearinaCDROMfolderonyourdesktop.Createa newfolderandthendragthecontentsoftheCDROMfolderintoyournewfolder.Clicktorunthe softwareandenterthedetailsyounotedabove. WhentheCandidatesoftwarehasbeenfullyinstalledandithasregistereditselfitwillaskifyouwishto runthesoftware,clickOKtorunthecandidatesoftware. Afterregisteringitselfandthecomputer,theCandidatesoftwarewilldisplaythecandidateloginpage.

4.SettingupaFamiliarisationTest
ThisFamiliarisationTestissimplyatestthatstaffcanusetofamiliarisethemselveswiththesoftware. Thetesthasbeenprovidedwiththesoftware,butyouneedtotimetableityourself. Onceyouhaveloggedonyouwillsee theTestCentrehomepageasshown, butpossiblyalsowithsomeothertests andsittingsalreadyshowing. ClickontheNonTimetabledTestslink (shown).

YouwillnowseetheTeststab.ClickonFamiliarisationTestin thetable(ifthereareseveralinstances,clicktheonewith StatusSchedule).ThiswilldisplaytheScheduleTestpopup (shown).Enterthetimeanddateonwhichyouwanttorunthe testandclickSave.

Bytheway,forrealtestswhichhave beensetbyyourawardingbody,the testmayalreadybescheduled,andthis stepwillnotbenecessary.

YouarenowreturnedtotheTeststabandhavecompletedtheprocessofschedulingaNon TimetabledTest.Clickonthenameofthetestyouhavejustcreated(theonewhichhasadateagainstit inthetable)andyouwillbetakentothedetailsscreenyourtest(shown). Youwillseethatanumberofdummy candidateentriesappearinthelistof candidates.ClickonAddifyouwishtoadd additionalcandidates,orEditifyouwishto changethenamesofthedummyentries.For thisfamiliarisationtestyouwillonlyneedto addafirstandlastnameplusID(IDcanbe 1234orsimilar). Nowclickthelinkatthetopofthescreento returntotheTestCentreHomePage.

5.Preparingforthetest
YouwillseethattheTestyouhavetimetablednowappearsinthesectionTodaysTestSittingsatthe topofthepage(providedyouchoosetodaysdateinthestepabove!).Youwillalsoseethatthetest youhavetimetabledhasautomaticallybeenplacedintoatestsittingwithtodaysdate. Clickonthenameofthesitting(shown)to prepareforthetesttoday.
TestSittingscanbeusedto organiseyourcandidates.For example,youmaywishtosetupa sittingforeachroominwhichyou willberunningtests.

TheTestSittingpreparationpage(shownbelow)tellsyouwhatyouneedtodotogetreadytoruna test.Thismeans: 1. Confirmingyouhaveenoughcomputerssetup;and 2. PrintingCandidateLogonDetails. Towardstherighthandside,thescreen showsthatyouhavejustonetestinthis sitting.Itispossibleforasittingto containseveraltests. Thescreenalsoshowshowmany candidateentriesyouhavemade(3in thiscase)andhowmanycomputersyou haveprepared(inthiscase1candidate and1administration). Toconfirmthatyouhavesufficientcomputersprepared,clickonthe checkbox(shown)andtheredexclamationwillturnintoagreentick. NowclickonthelinktoPrintLogonDetails.Thesewillbesenttoa printerandthisredexclamationwillalsoturnintoagreentick. Youwillnowseethatthetestisfullyprepared,indicatedbybothredwarningshavingturnedintogreen ticks.Youarenowreadytorunthetest.Closethewebsiteandretrievetheprintoutsfromtheprinter.

6.Startingthetest
OnthecomputeronwhichyouinstalledTestSittingAdministrationsoftware,doubleclick ontheicontostarttheTestSittingAdministrationsoftware.

Thesoftwarewillgothroughsomeinitialstartupcheckstoensureithasgotalltheinformationitneeds tobeabletorunthetest.Enteryourlogindetails(thesameasyouhaveusedbefore). Ifasked,clickontheTestSitting<date>linkinwhichyoucanseetheFamiliarisationTest(youwillonly beaskedifothertestsittingshavebeensetupinyourcentreforthesameday).

ThisdisplaystheTestSittingscreen(shownbelow)whichisusedtocontroltheprogressofatest. TheavailabilityoftheTest Controlsbuttonsdependonthe wayyourAwardingBodyhassetup thetest.Thismeansthatyoumay havedifferentbuttonsavailable. AssoonastheCurrentTimefallswithinthetestwindowyouhavedefined(aftertheEarliestStart time),youwillnoticethattheStartTestbuttonbecomesenabled.Dontclickthisyet,asitisgood practicetogetcandidatestologontothesoftwarebeforestartingthetest.

7.Sitthetestasacandidate
Now,youaregoingtoplaytheroleofaCandidate,soyouwillneedtositinfrontofthecandidate computer.IftheLoginscreen(shown)isnotdisplayed,pleasedoubleclickontheicontostartthe Candidatesoftware. UsingtheCandidateLogon Detailswhichyouprintedafewmoments ago,entertheCandidateNumberandthe Passwordprovidedontheprintoutand clickSUBMIT. Providedyoutypedthecandidatedetails correctly,youwillnowbeaskedtoconfirm yourdetails.ClickProceed. YouwillseeamessagethattheTestwillbestartedshortly. GobacktotheTestAdministrationsoftwareandyouwillseethat1candidatehasnowloggedonandis readytostart.OntheTestAdministrationsoftware,nowclicktoStartTest. Onthecandidatecomputeryouwillseetheteststartanddisplaytheinstructionspage.ClickProceed andyouwillnowbeabletosittheFamiliarisationTestandanswerthequestions.

8.Endingthetest
AsthissessionisjusttohelpunderstandConnectPlus,youwillprobablynotwanttoanswerallthe questions,soyoucanenditearly... OntheTestSittingAdministrationcomputer,click EndTest.Inafewmoments,youwillseethetestfor theCandidatehasbeenended.

Thatsit!Youhavegonethroughtheprocessofsettingupcomputersandrunningyourfirsttest. YoucansafelycloseboththeCandidateandSittingAdministrationsoftware. Remember,oncethecomputershavebeensetuponce,theywillautomaticallygetthemselvesreadyfor anytestswhicharetakingplaceinyourCentre.
