The global job crisis Submitter: Denmark ECOSOC Commission, Affirming that the global job crisis is constantly

becoming a very serious issue, thus the Delegation of Denmark calls upon all delegations to endorse immediate action, Alarmed by the fact that nearly two-thirds of advanced economies and half of emerging economies are once again experiencing a slowdown in employment, Taking into consideration the following alarming facts about the future of global employment situation: a) About 80 million new jobs will be needed over the next two years to reinstate precrisis employment rates; b) People do not have confidence in their sovereignty; c) Worsening of the life standard d) Lack of decent jobs, especially in failing economies; e) Among the past 9 years, productive investment stagnated, Fully concerned by the work force migration from Eastern Europe to the West, when in their former countries, people could obtain the same wages, but work is not correctly valued, Noting with deep concern that there is of utmost importance that local business exists, but lacking in local productivity results in regional economic stagnation, Deploring early retirement, that in some countries such as France caused a financial instability and did not result in expanding job places for the emerging youth, Fully alarmed by the presence of racism among employers and employees in some regions or countries, affecting the migrated population, Further deploring the increased focus on appeasing financial markets, thus attention is not redirected to other alternatives as solutions, Noting with regret that labour market conditions have weakened and there is insufficient job creation, 1. Suggests every country to create programs and modify laws and taxes, so as to endorse entrepreneurship and local business; 2. Urges governments to reduce migration of important work force not by creating restrictive laws, but by implanting a favourable business market, changing taxes and restrictions related to economic and financial development and valuing the local growth possibilities;

3. Recommends the creation of evaluation committees, that have to make sure of the legal working conditions, human rights appliance and inexistence of racism among valuing an employee or his wages; 4. Endorses a closer connection between wages and productivity, starting with surplus countries; 5. Proposes the maintenance and strengthening of pro-employment programs, that are funded from a broader tax base; 6. Further calls all countries to put jobs back on top of the global agenda, thus not only this crisis is solved, but others to; 7. Supports investments in food security which is a driver of better jobs, affecting macro economy, employment and income effects; 8. Seeks tax reforms in many countries, thus the job recovery and equity improves; 9. Invites some countries to revise the retirement conditions, because being retired early affects the economy and does not create new jobs and early retirement should be approved in special cases; 10. Decides to remain actively seized in the matter.
