What is personality? How to develop a magnetic personality? How to make your magnetic personality pay? These are some of the questions that come to our mind when we think in terms of personality development. So let us begin with defining personality. Allport (1948) after evaluating about fifty definitions of personality arrived at the conclusion that; Personality is a dynamic organization with in the individual of those psycho-physical system that determine his unique adjustment to his environment. The dictionary defines personality as, The integrated organization of all the psychological, intellectual, emotional and physical characteristics of an individual especially as they are presented to other people. The term personality comes from the Latin word persona. This term was given to the masks that the actors wore according to the characters they portrayed. Catell (1990) defined personality as, personality is that which permits a prediction of what a Person will do in a given situation. Personality is the end product of the process of learning and experience, it is based on heredity and environment, acquisition contributes towards the growth and development of personality. 9

Personality is harmonious blending of constant unfolding and modifying behavior according to the situation. The adopting type of personality is considered to be commendable. The integrated matured personality is considered to be the best type of personality. So let us base personality development on unification or integration of the individual as a whole. Basically in the process of development of a childs personality character being an ethical nature of a human being depends on the moral concept. Personality is a psychological concept. Individual temperament is based on the emotional nature, but personality goes beyond ethical or emotional nature of individual. Freud states that the ego of the individual - the I within - is the part of the total personality. Adler in his book, Individual psychology states that a mans personality can be judged by how he pursues his short term and long term goals in his life. There are many theories of personality bases on various factors. Some of the important theories are classified below: Hippocratess classification: Hippocrates a Greek physical one of the disciples of the great philosopher Aristotle, states that the human body consist of four types of humors of fluids and that the excess of one of these types of fluids in the body decides the type of personality. But correlating physical structure of a human being with his personality traits is not perfect.

Jungs classification: Jung classified all human being in to two types, 1 INTROVERT 2 EXTRAVORT. This is based on the social interaction of the individual with society The introvert is more reserved where as an extrovert is more external, social and outgoing, course and equal combination or variance of both there traits can be found. Coming back from the definition of personality to the aim of the theme of this book on personal magnetism, I would like to state that to develop a magnetic personality we need to generate the most powerful attractive force within us in order to radiate these attractive forces to influence the society that we live into achieve our ambition, through the magic power affirmations given at the end of each chapter, but before that let us explore our consciousness about the exact structure of our personality.
