SESAME WORKSHOP-LET IT OUT MUSIC VIDEO We are thrilled to let you know that the Sesame Workshop 'Let It Out Music Video' is now online as they recently launched their new initiative called Military Families Near and Far! This initiative extends the work they began with Talk, Listen, Connect, and offers a wider range of materials for military families with both preschool and school-aged children. Included in this new initiative is a website, FamiliesNearAndFar.org, where military families can create, communicate, and stay connected. The new site uses both Sesame Street and The Electric Company characters to help both preschool and older military children express themselves through art, music, writing, and more! It is also the new home for a wealth of resources designed to help military families during periods of separation, change, and transition. They've also created a FREE new mobile app called Feel Electric! (available for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch) that helps school-aged children identify and express their emotions. In addition to the website and app, they have new printable resources as well. ANNUAL MOTHER GOOSE PARADE EL CAJON Sunday, Nov 20. The Mother Goose Parade is the largest parade in San Diego County and the largest of its type west of the Mississippi. Each year, the parade attracts thousands of spectators to the streets of El Cajon, California to view the parade for free on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Well over 100 colorful and exciting parade entries come from a variety of cities throughout the United States to share in the excitement that is part of the Mother Goose Parade. Each year, a line-up of spectacular motorized floats, glorious marching bands and drill units, eloquent equestrians, animated clowns, special characters, special guests, performing artists, celebrities, giant helium balloons, specialty vehicles, and of course, Santa Claus, roll through East County. The Great Escape, enlisted recreation center, is hosting its 25th annual HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS Program. As in the past we have had an overwhelming response from the community. We are always in need of active duty military personnel who would like to have a delicious home cooked Holiday meal. This is a FREE program and is available to all active duty service members. The Great Escape matches up local families with active duty personnel who cannot make it home for the Thanksgiving and/or Christmas holidays. The host families pick up and return service members to The Great Escape on Thanksgiving and/or Christmas Day. While in the host family's home service members are provided a traditional holiday meal in the company of a caring family. By participating in this program YOU are allowing the community to show their appreciation to you, the service member.
