Schrader and VDO : Manufacturers ot tyre pressure monitoring. Schrader and VDO pressure sensors allow the pressure of each tyre to be continuously monitored and warns the vehicle driver of any problem via the dashboard!
15 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE in tyre pressure monitoring. Since 1991, Schrader has been working on its TPMS development in the US, Ireland and in France with about 100 engineers.
BENEFITS OF THE SYSTEM Continuous tyre monitoring: avoids breakdowns due to a flat tyre, improves passenger safety, improves fuel consumption due to correct tyre pressures. avoids premature tyre wear due to low inflation and improves tyre life. Energy saving = Reduction of CO2 emissions = Money saving.
RTPMS IN THE FUTURE Since November 1st, 2006, 100% of the vehicles in the US are equipped following the Tread Act. In Europe we estimate that 14% of the vehicles are equipped with TPMS. An increase up to 40% is expected from now to 2012 and we hope a European Standard in the coming years to reach 100% as in the US. DESCRIPTION
SCHRADER SENSORS Complete aluminium clamp-in valves fixed to a plastic cased housing with an electronic circuit. 1) rubber grommet 2) radial airtight rubber grommet. VDO SENSORS* Complete aluminium sensor with complete flexible valves connected to an electronic circuit. Rubber Snap-in valve type. Complete aluminium valve with variable angle fixed to a plastic cased housing with an electronic circuit.
VDO wheel unit: Distributed by Schrader BERU SENSORS* Complete aluminium valves available in different length. The sensor must be ordered separately.
TWO FUNCTIONING SYSTEMS Reprogramming system: If a valve has to be changed and replaced by a new one, a TPMS reprogramming tool is required to complete the learning out process on some vehicles (See page 8 and 9). No reprogramming system Auto-rotation (WAL : Wireless Auto Location technology): Thanks to a sensor on each wheel, the AUTO-ROTATION technology automatically locates the correct wheel location. That means no more system reprogramming after tyre rotations or when new tyres are mounted.

PRECAUTIONS A valve with pressure sensor in wheels requires some precautions to be taken while assembling/removing the tyres. If this is not done properly, the valve may get damaged which may lead to a system malfunction.
Technical Assistance and Training

ON SCHRADER SENSORS ONLY: DISMANTLING TRICK! In order to avoid the break of the valve during the dismantling, unscrew the valve nut and push the valve inside the tyre.

VDO SENSORS: MOUNTING/DISMANTLING: During all operations on the tyre, the sensor has to be accurately held. Do not unscrew the nut and push the sensor inside the wheel. When repairinq the tyre (and not in case of removal), you are advised to change the valve core, cap, nut and rubber grommet.

All sensors and accessories are listed in the vehicle charts, available on our website. CAUTION: each valve or accessory is different according to vehicles and car manufacturers. The pieces must be adapted to the rim type and the vehicles.

Aluminium or plastic caps. Sealing cap necessary to guarantee the valve airtightness, preventing foreign matter from entering the working parts of the valve core. To avoid corrosion, never use a cap in row brass or in nickel plated brass. Nickel plated brass core. To prevent an accumulation of oxidization into the valve mouth, change the core systematically. Be careful, the use of any other core could cause oxidization in the valve core. Use the tool P/N 65783-67 recommended by Schrader. 2 types: Rubber grommets (1) or radial airtight rubber grommet (2). zinc coated seal washer of the valve seal (3). (for VDO sensor). To ensure a perfect airtightness, we recommend that you change the rubber grommet each time you remove the tyre.

Several types of anodized aluminium nut: hexagonal nut 11 or 12 with or without groove for coloured ring. CAUTION: the nut torque has to be respected. Use the tool P/N 65062-67 recommended by Schrader. 4 coloured rings for vehicles with identification of wheel location. The valves in question are delivered with a ring of each colour not fitted.

Mounted valve body with core and cap, without screw, P/N 65567-68 or 65567-69. For 11,5 mm rim hole. Systematically change the complete valve body each time you remove the tyre. TORX 10 screw, P/N 65598-68 or 65598-69. CAUTION: the nut torque of 1,4 N.m has to be respected.
BERU VALVE TYPE

Complete aluminium mounted valve with rubber grommet, core and cap, with screw. For 11,5 mm rim hole. CAUTION: the sensor must be ordered separately. Nut torque: 4 N.m. TORX screw torque: 4 N.m.
