All products which will be used in radiocommunication, telecommunication or are to be connected to the public switched telephone network (PSTN) need CNC approval/registration before its commercialization in the country. The CNC (National Commission for Communications) is the official body appointed by the Argentine government, responsible for the enforcement of the Homologation, Codification and Authorization processes of telecommunication equipments, and the registration of those companies commercializing them. For this purpose, the C.N.C. has created a Registry called RAMATEL (Registro de Actividades y Materiales de Telecomunicaciones). After the Homologation/Codification/Authori zation process has been completed, the information of the importers and their homologated/codified/authorized products will be automatically transferred to the RAMATEL Registry. It is a public registry published in the web, which is continuously updated by the CNC. Type of Approvals Homologation: Permission granted by the C.N.C to a registered local manufacturer or importer, allowing the commercialization of a certain equipment in National territory. The equipments must be tested under CNC standards in a Local Laboratory accredited by the C.N.C.
Homologation of Telecom Equipment

The permission is granted by means of a Disposition. Codification: Similar to the homologation, it is a permission granted by the C.N.C by means of a Disposition to a registered local manufacturer or importer, allowing the commercialization of a certain equipment in National territory, in those cases where no CNC standards exist for the particular product. Therefore no testing is performed, unless specifically required by the CNC. Authorization: Restricted permission granted by the CNC either to a person or company, allowing the utilization of a certain Telecommunication equipment. This permission does not allow the importer to commercialize the product. No testing is required, unless specifically required by the CNC. Marking requirements The equipment must exhibit following information: Manufacturers name or trademark * Model (Type designation) * Registration number * Serial number The compliance of the a.m. requirements does not imply the compliance of the essential safety requirements as established by Resolution ex-SICyM No. 92/98.
