and is a very valuable and scarce resource. People need land to grow food, to build cities, for
investments as well as for housing. Therefore, access to land, rights over land, the management and
administration of land and the settling of land conflicts are very important for human kind. Many
international conventions and declarations underline the importance of land rights and land management
to achieve sustainable rural and urban development. The Master's Programme "and Management and
and Tenure" provides the necessary theoretical and practical background for future experts in this field.
Courses include topics such as and Policy, and Tenure Systems, Rural and Urban Development, and
Management, and Administration, Cadastre, and Use Planning, Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing,
Geographic nformation Systems (GS), Global Positioning Systems (GPS), Environmental Risk
Management, and Economy and and Conflict Management. n addition, courses on Project
Management, Research Skills, Presentation, Mediation, and intercultural communication are offered. Mid-
career students from all over the world are taking part in the programme.

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent (in accordance with TUM's international academic requirements), at
least two years of practical experience in a field related to land management, TOEF minimum score:
Paper Based: 550, Computer Based: 230 or equivalent test results which proof sufficient knowledge of
the English language. Tuition Fees - Euro 4.000 (for the entire programme).

nternship

nternship
The four week internship - taking place between the first and second semester - provides students with
the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge within the frame of the work of public and private
institutions dealing with land management in Germany or abroad. Students are therefore acquainted with
procedures and processes carried out by institutions dealing with land management. Also, they get the
opportunity to get practical experience in the field of their current studies. Students are encouraged to
carry out their internship in an internationally engaged organisation.

After their internship, participants are given the opportunity to discuss issues and open questions they
have come across through the internship report. They are invited to reflect on the possibilities and limits
of transferring procedures to other countries, especially their own.

Experts in geodesy and geoinformation capture the human environment by surveying it and depicting it in
map form; in doing so, they portray, arrange and register the world according to fixed characteristics and
thus contribute towards its shaping and alteration. To perform these tasks, surveyors develop, use and
investigate the most appropriate tools and procedures. Their work can be divided into four main areas, all
with typical characteristics and strongly interlinked in many respects:
1. A wide variety of surveying work, ranging from covering large areas of the globe by means of
geodetic surveying, to mapping small areas as well as setting-out and monitoring natural objects or
structures by means of engineering surveying.
2. Cartography based on survey findings and other sources.
3. ocation surveys and all questions connected with land use and land management.
4. Tasks that arise in the course of spatially-related planning, and in connection with planning
implementation in terms of real estate laws.

The four-semester Master's course of study is a continuation of the Bachelor's course of study in
Aerospace Engineering. The choice of courses from one specific course catalogue guarantees flexibility
in designing the course of study, as well as an individual, target-oriented education tailored to the
challenging careers that students plan to pursue. Students can decide whether they will specialize in one
of the traditional disciplines aerodynamics, lightweight structures, flight system dynamics, flight
propulsion, automatic control, airplane design or astronautics or whether they will pursue a broad area
of general knowledge. The well-grounded course of study is not just useful for employment in the
aerospace industry, but it also qualifies students for work in many other branches, such as automotive
engineering or T. The international environment of Aerospace Engineering plays out on all levels of daily
work, and it requires particular flexibility and creativity. Preparing for these challenges forms a significant
part of the modern Master's course of study. Exchange programs give students the opportunity to spend
a semester at a foreign university and adapt to the educational system and social life of another place.
The technical and social skills acquired by graduates of this course of study are an outstanding
preparation for a successful career in the aerospace industry.

The main goal of the CARTOGRAPH Master's Program is to educate future engineers in Cartography in
combination with Geoinformatics and prepare them either for a scientific career in Cartography or for a
career in the industry. The objective of the Master's program in Cartography is that students acquire in-
depth expertise in the entire field of cartography. Students will gain fundamental knowledge in spatial data
modeling, analysis and visualization of geographic information. Students should be able to use modern
theories, methods and procedures relating to the map production and map use in the sense of modern
cartography including Geoinformatics. They should participate in research projects and apply them
professionally and economically. The students shall have the ability to capture, model, manage, analyze
and visualize adequate spatial data with space, time and attribute information.

They should be in the position to competently handle databases and geographic information systems and
to accomplish adequate graphic data processing for all kinds of user groups. Students shall rule all forms
of publications and media like print media or multimedia electronic media including web publishing.

Students shall critically face up to social connecting factors and implications of various techniques and
methods for processing and visualization spatial data.

Finally students should be in a position to strongly influence and shape cartography as an independent
science with its own research and object of knowledge, but also with strong relations to earth sciences,
information sciences and communication science, with skills for the systematic analysis and synthesis of
the individual until the whole.
