INTRODUCTION TIME: 2 MINs


WHO: Hello, My name is Sgt. Snodgrass

WHAT: During this period you will learn the Rank Structure of Officers and NCMs of the
Canadian Army.

WHY: It is extremely important to be able to indentify Officers and NCMs throughout your
Cadet Career.

WHERE: You will be able to apply this to everyday situations within cadets.

Test: At the end of this lecture you will have a verbal test on the different ranks.

II STAGE 1: NCM RANK BADGES TIME: 5-10 MINs
1. General: In the Army Cadet Program, or just in the Army, you
can advance in ranks by the NCM ranking system. As
a cadet it is important to be able to indentify each.

2. Junior Ranks: Are referred to as Junior Non-Commissioned


Members (NCM’s). They include:

a. Gunner;

b. Bombardier; and,

c. Master Bombardier.

3. Senior Ranks: Are referred to as Senior NCM’s. They include:

a. Sergeant;

b. Warrant Officer;

c. Master Warrant Officer; and,

d. Chief Warrant Officer.

1. There are two types of NCM ranks. What are they?

2. Name the four Senior NCM Ranks. Name the three Junior Ranks.

3. What is the highest NCM Rank that an Army Cadet can get?

IV STAGE 2: OFFICER RANK BADGES TIME: 5-10 MINs

1. General: In the Army Cadet Program, and the Army, you will
be faced with many officer rankings, so it is important
to be able to identify them.

2. Junior Officer Ranks:

a. Officer Cadet;

b. Second Lieutenant;

c. Lieutenant; and,
d. Captain.

3. Senior Officer Ranks:

a. Major;
b. Lieutenant Colonel; and,

c. Colonel

1. There are two kinds of Officer Ranks, what are they?

3. What is the lowest Officer Rank?

VI STAGE 3: GENERAL RANK BADGES

1. General: In The Army and Army Cadets you need to know the
General Ranks to be able to show the respect they deserve.

c. Lieutenant General

II. Each cadet will visually identify the different Officer and General Rank badges.

1. Describe and Name one of the Junior Officer Rank Badges.

2. Describe and Name one of the Senior Officer Rank Badges.

3. Describe and Name one of the General Rank Badges.

4. How do you remember the order of General Rank Badges?
