(Saint Augustine Church, Barberton, OH) (November 20, 2011)

(Insert Graphic 2116-002.tif) Our Lord Jesus Christ the King

To whom much is given, much is expected. In todays gospel Jesus tells us that we must share our abundance with the least..the stranger, the prisoner, the hungry and the homeless. As we gather to give thanks this week, we must also ask ourselves how well we share with the least. Happiness is secured not by having but through sharing. Eternal happiness through sharing with the least. (Insert graphic 1106-0086)
364 Holy Hours were kept before the Blessed Sacrament this past week. Because your hour with Jesus will repair for the evils of the world, and bring about peace on earth, the Church says, "Let us be generous with our time in going to meet Him....May our adoration never cease. The Holy Hour program needs you! Please call Judy Soltis if you are able to assist this Christmas Season, 330-212-0926, what better gift to be given. (Insert Graphic 1401-0006.tif) My Dear Parishioners: We are fast approaching the celebration of Thanksgiving this week. Many of us will be once again gathering with family and friends to give thanks. The seconds, minutes, hours and years go by so quickly. Each moment we gather with our family and our friends to celebrate is a moment to cherish, a moment to treasure, a moment to build bonds, relationships and stories that truly become our greatest and most priceless pearls. Once created, these bonds cannot be broken even by death. The moments we have, though, can be fleeting, and each one we let slip away can never be regained and there are no do-overs. As my parents have grown older and their health is slowly fading, I cherish these moments more and more, and I do not want to let even a single second slip away when I can tell them I love them and I can build a stronger bond, create another memory and add to our shared story. It is for this that I give thanks this Thanksgiving and I pray that you too will give thanks for all the blessings God has poured out upon you, especially for your family and friends and the creation of everlasting bonds. Never let a second slip away. Thank you for the privilege of serving as your pastor and creating our bonds as a Saint Augustine family. Christs Peace and Happy Thanksgiving! Fr. David Majikas (Insert Graphic 2404-0106.tif)

In particular, today, we are thankful for the beautiful fall decorations that fill our sanctuary. A special thank you is extended to Marge Falkenstein and all the helping hands who donated their time and talents to make the altar a beautiful focal point for our Mass celebrations and for reminding us that when we share the gifts God has given us we can see how extraordinary this time of praise and thanksgiving is.
