Presentation Outline
Differentiate managers from leaders Discuss the John Maxwells essence of leadership and its 5 levels Identify the leadership classifications as practiced by Jack Welch, former CEO of General Electric, which propelled GE from good to great Enumerate the four Es of employee productivity

in any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing to do is the wrong thing, and the worst things you can do is nothing.

Theodore Roosevelt

Why speak of leadership and not on being a manager?

Everything rises and falls on leadership - John C. Maxwell

Managers vs. Leaders

Leaders have followers; Leaders empower and inspire their followers. Leaders do not seek stability, they look for flexibility.
Managers have employees. Managers only maintain command and control, many times to excess, thereby uninspiring employees.

Managers vs. Leaders

Leaders set the course, inspiring their followers to solve their own problems and make their own decisions. Leaders teach their followers to be leaders in their own right and to better themselves, their companies, and those around them. Leaders are always looking for better and more efficient ways of doing things. Managers make decisions, solve problems as they arise, and give orders managers have employees. A manager just accepts the organizations makeup and culture and does all that he or she can to cement the companys status quo.

Conflict or Complementary
Wanted Managerial Leaders!!! powered by vision while possessing effective grasp of business and marked with efficiency in achieving goals through and with people. Calling for managers who are leaders at the same time for Inspiring others to do better work (John C. Maxwell).

The 4Es in Employee Productivity

Efficient Doing the job right at the first time Effective Doing the right job Ethical Living the Values of the Organization

Enjoying Making work fun

Why values must come first? In his book, Winning Attitude, Maxwell spoofs a Superman movies famous line: Its plane! Its a bird! No its ATTITUDE! Attitude is dictated by what we hold dearly. And values refer to what we strongly feel as important. LEADERSHIP is value-driven.

Salary Taker What will I receive?

Are you Salary Maker or Taker?

Salary Maker -What can I give? -Ill do whatever it takes to get it right. -Whatever the job, I can help. -Im responsible. - How can the team look good.?

What will it take to get by? Its not my job. Someone else is responsible How can I look good?

Will it pass? The paycheck is the reason I work. Am I better off because I work here? Pay me now. Ill produce later.

Is it my best? The paycheck is the byproduct of my work. Is the team better off because I work here? Ill produce now. You can pay me later.

YOU WILL ONLY BECOME WHAT YOU ARE BECOMING RIGHT NOW Though you cannot go back And make a brand new start, my friend. Anyone can start from now And make a brand new end.
