o What are some websites you can use to research a famous person from the seventies time period? Compile a list on the board at the front of the class, and have the students copy the list on the back of their handouts. Some resources include: o Google o Wikipedia o Famouspeople.com o Infoplease.com o Official sites of artists (e.g., Chicagotheband.com) Students must line up at the door to go to the computer lab, but before walking out the door, they will have to tell the teacher what artist they will be researching. If the artist is already taken, the student must be prepared with a second, or possible third choice. Take kids to computer lab. Review rules that need to be followed in the computer lab such as: o No eating or drinking around the computers. o Students are only allowed to use websites that were written down on the list the class compiled. Tell students to log into the timeline website. o They must create an account using their own or families e-mail address, and a password. o Record students login information so that you can login next week to look and assess each timeline. Tell students to begin researching in order to compile information listed on handout. o They must use the websites listed from class at first. If they want to use other websites, they must ask the teacher, and get them approved, first. Students will be researching the next day, too in class. Whenever students are ready to begin working on their timelines, they should do so. Make sure to be walking around all 4 days students are working in class to make sure they are staying on task, and getting all the requirements completed. o Ask questions to make sure students are on task at all times. o Encourage students to ask questions. Remind students that they must finish it by Monday of the following week.
