During this 27th Annual Learning Differences conference, we will examine cutting-edge methods for individualizing the teaching process to address the needs of diverse learners. The program will emphasize current work on executive function, motivation, effort, and resilience. Novel approaches will be discussed for individualizing instruction and teaching effective strategies across the grades in different domains including reading, writing, math, and content area subjects. The conference will include a combination of plenary sessions and smaller concurrent sessions to provide opportunities for in-depth discussion with faculty. The program will emphasize the application of theory and research to educational practice.

This conference is designed for professionals in education, psychology, child development, speech and language pathology, school psychology and other related fields.

PROGRAM FEE The comprehensive program fee of $730 includes all program and instructional materials, breaks, a reception, and a certificate of completion. Payment must be received no later than February 15, 2012. Discounted rates are available for people who register early (prior to January 18, 2012) and further discounts are available for people who register early and bring a colleague. See the registration form or the website for details. CANCELLATION POLICY Cancellations must be made in writing. Full refunds will be granted until February 1, 2012. Cancellations received between February 1 and February 15 are subject to a 10% administrative fee. Cancellations after February 15 and no shows are subject to full payment. ResearchILD reserves the right to cancel the program and change faculty at its discretion. In the unlikely event of program changes, ResearchILD is not responsible for non-refundable travel arrangements or other planning costs incurred.

CONFERENCE CHAIR: LYNN MELTZER, Ph.D.


Lynn Meltzer is the President and Director of Research at the Research Institute for Learning and Development (ResearchILD) and Director of Assessment at the Institute for Learning and Development (ILD) in Lexington, MA. She holds appointments as an Associate in Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Tufts University Department of Child Development. She is a fellow and Past-President of the prestigious International Academy for Research in Learning Disabilities. Her 33 years of clinical work, research, publications, and presentations have focused on understanding the complexity of learning and attention problems. Her extensive publications include articles, chapters, books, all with an emphasis on teaching learning strategies relating to the assessment and treatment of learning difficulties. Her recent work, together with her ResearchILD colleagues, is a best-seller and is titled Executive Function in Education: From Theory to Practice. N.Y.: Guilford Press, 2007. She and her colleagues recently completed another book for teachers, Promoting Executive Function in the Classroom, N.Y.: Guilford Press, 2010.
