Gov. Leads Trade Mission to India

Gov. O'Malley and the First Lady kicked off a historic trade mission to India on Monday jo more than 100 Maryland business leaders, educators and elected officials. The mission re new opportunities to expand into new global markets and create jobs. India was Maryland largest export market in 2010. As of September 2011, Maryland businesses had exported million of goods and services to India, up 18% from the same period last year. Manufacturing Revival Could Add 2-3 Million Jobs

As China's cost advantage shrinks relative to North America some are predicting a U.S. manufacturing resurgence. The Boston Consulting Group reported transportation goods, equipment/appliances, furniture, plastics and rubber products, machinery, fabricated meta and computers/electronics are most likely to see a return to the U.S. starting around 2015 sectors in which wages account for a relatively small portion of total production costs and shipping costs and logistics are critical.
