LINEAR ACTUATORS LIMITORQUE Electro Mechanical Linear Actuator is a packaged system for direct conversion of electrical energy into

controlled linear motion. The pneumatic & hydraulic cylinders along with their many accessories are replaced easily by this device with greater operational reliability than its fluid power counter parts. It is ideally suited for applications in remote locations & hostile environments. CONSTRUCTION AND OPERATION
Although Limitorque Actuator is a precision piece of machinery, its rigid construction will withstand the most severe industrial demands including extremely hot and hazardous environments. The actuator is of totally enclosed, weather proof and dust proof design. All parts of main driving mechanism are contained in a robust steel housing to which aTENVflange mounted motor is attached . The power of the motor is transmitted through a pin type coupling to the driving mechanism which in turn actuates chrome plated drive pipe in an axial direction. The axial support of the driven pipe is within the housing and the same is provided with a special seal at the end of the housing to prevent entry of dust.

When continuation of the in or out motion of the Drive pipe assembly is prevented either due to completion of stroke or by some external obstruction, the drive screw and attached over load cam moves in opposite direction against the thrust overload spring. With the attainment of preset over load force, the over load cam actuates the limit switch thereby interrupting power supply to the motor thus protecting the motor and driven mechanism from damage due to over load. Though the electrical circuit precludes continued movement in the direction of overload but the actuator can be reversed upon command. In addition to provide protection for the electrical and mechanical components of the actuators, the specially designed overload switch system may be conveniently adjusted to provide protection for the device being operated. In simple applications where the actuator functions to move object between the two limits, over load mechanism is a single control element. For applications requiring intermediate positioning and position monitoring the actuator can be provided with additional position control system. The actuator can be supplied either with foot mounting or with trunnion mounting and can be operated in any position. The design has been so streamlined that all electrical components are readily accessible.

LIMITORQUE Actuators are available in wide ranges of sizes, the standard range provides thrust from 50 kg. to 3000 kg. & strokes upto 1500 mm. Larger actuators can be supplied to accommodate loads upto 15000 kg.

*Torque Motor -Totally Enclosed Non Ventilated (TENV), high torque low inertia , surface cooled motor specially designed for actuator application will be supplied along with actuators.

Velocities of 60, 96 and 172 mm /sec in type A, B & C and of 96 and 120 mm/sec in type D are provided on request. The actuator force is identical for push or pull of drive pipe. The above values are based on standard flange mounted motor operating on 415 5% Volts and 50 Hz electric supply. The actuators with greater/ lesser force ratings, non-standard stroke and velocities can be supplied to suite clients requirements.

SUPERIOR FEATURES OF OUR DESIGN

a) The built in thrust over load switch system makes it virtually impossible to damage its electrical or mechanical components. b) Automatic compensation for wear, temperature change etc. is provided by the inherent spring load which remains after completion of the stroke. c) Actuation starts immediately and not until the motor has picked up the speed. It takes only about a second to actuate. d) Push and pull force and velocity are constant unlike pneumatic and hydraulic systems which can be adversely affected by variation in pressure and flow.

e) Even in remote locations, installation is easy and inexpensive compared to the piping and support equipment requirements of pneumatic and hydraulic systems. f) With no fluids to leak the actuator can be used in a variety of environments for example cleanest such as food processing, hazardous such as high temperature and open flames, the dirtiest were maintenance is minimal or non existent. g) Power is consumed only during movement providing operational economy, minimum noise and minimum wear. h) The simple design of actuator has only three number of moving components. This results in savings on maintenance costs.

APPLICATION OF ACTUATORS
The actuator is applied whenever a controlled linear motion is desired including the operation of lever arms, cranks & slide.Typical examples are opening & closing of hopper doors, positioning of conveyor system diverter gates, repositioning flap gates, the opening and closing of slides, butterfly and damper valves. More complex operations are readily implemented by the use of appropriate feedback signals. Position monitoring or movements to intermediate locations is accomplished by use of a position control consisting of preset limit switches. Other measurable parameters such as pressure, weight, temperature and humidity may also be used for automatic control. The function of actuator is analogous to that of pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders and therefore its applications are virtually limitless through out the industry.
