Objective
Experienced transportation engineer looking to become a team member of a well-known consulting firm or an organization of like-minded engineers. Assisted in the design of large roadway projects such as Mountain View Corridor and Southern Parkway. Planning on taking the PE in the spring 2012 and becoming licensed. Interested in staying in the transportation field, but not opposed to learning about water and environmental design or construction management as well.

Experience
URS Corporation-Civil Designer 1/2008-Present Assisting project engineers and managers with preparing roadway design, design sheets, quantities, and engineer estimates. Design of storm drains for roadway projects, and assisting water resources team with other water projects. See attached sheet for project specific experience.

UDOT-Legacy Parkway Segment 1 Construction Team-Intern

5/2007-1/2008

Retrieve soil, concrete sand and aggregate, and asphalt samples to be tested, graded, and checked for specifications. Soil/concrete samples are washed, dried, weighed and sieved to determine weight ratios against specifications. HMA samples burned off to determine % oil, % void ratio determined, and gyratory samples made to determine overall mass and road height simulations.

ARUP Laboratories-Sample Sales Representative Retrieve medical specimens from the worlds largest automated storage facility. Pour-off, de-identify, and ship samples to customers with data sheets. Help Reagent Lab with high quantity check-outs for tests. Assist in testing and de-bugging the check-out programs.

Project Specific Experience at URS Corp

US-189 Widening, Wasatch County, UT: Aided in the design of a minor connector road that was realigned to better fit with the widening of US-189. Also had responsibility of the new traffic signal design for the new intersection with the minor road. Rosecrest Road (5600 West), Salt Lake County, UT: In charge of the drainage design with the aid of Storm & Sanitary. Some design aspects included crossing an existing 66 storm drain line and limiting slope due to outfall restrictions and trunk line length. Also assisted in the roadway design and sheet production. Mountain View Corridor, Salt Lake County, UT: Assisted in utility organization, drainage design, pond earthwork quantity calculations, signal layout, sheet organization and production, and other aspects of a large project. Washington Fields Road, Washington County, UT: In charge of the drainage design and given the task to learn Storm & Sanitary, a design program for the design of storm drain systems and sanitary sewers. With this knowledge, helped train others in the office on the new program for future projects. Various Signal Projects, Region 1, UT: Assisted in designing new signalized intersections in Tremonton, Roy, and Ogden. This included drawing up the sheets, gathering quantities, and putting together engineers estimates for each. I-15; Washington to Cottonwood Creek, Washington County, UT: Assisted in developing the initial design of an auxiliary lane on I-15 between Washington Parkway interchange and the SR-9 interchange along I-15. Also assisted in the design of a new pavement section throughout the project. Aided in quantifying necessary items required for the construction. 1300 East Design Project, Salt Lake County, UT: Assisted in the back checking of quantities made previous to joining the project. Also assisted in quantifying signal items throughout the project. Also used Storm & Sanitary to design the changes to the existing storm drain system for the second phase of the 1300 East project. US 60 Grand Ave, Maricopa County, AZ: In charge of quantifying all the necessary construction items for over 12 new signals along Grand Avenue. Had to use and learn some of ADOT standards and specifications. Wardley Parking Lot, Weber County, UT: Assisted in designing a new parking lot for the Wardley Company. This included the closure of a small through street and implementing a maximum capacity design.
