INFORMATION SHEET FOR ADMISSION TO B.Tech. / B.Arch. PROGRAMMES UNDER DASA SCHEME FOR THE YEAR 2009-2010
Location of the Institute
Set in a picturesque landscape of the foothills of the Western Ghats, National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) is located about 22 kilometers North East of Calicut City in the state of Kerala, India. The Campus extends for a length of about 1.5 kms along the Kunnamangalam Mukkam Road and covers an area of approximately 120 hectares. The Institute is well connected with Calicut City by KSRTC Buses starting from KSRTC Central Bus Station, and by Private Buses starting from Corporation Bus Station, Palayam (near Calicut Railway Station). Taxi fare from Calicut Station to NITC is about Rs.350/- and Auto rickshaw fare is about Rs.250/-. The nearest airport is at Karipur, which is 45 kms from the Institute. Qualification prescribed for admission: The minimum academic qualification for admission is a
pass in the final examination of 10 + 2 or its equivalent as specified by EdCIL.

Age Limit : The maximum age for admission to B.Tech. / B.Arch. programme is 25 years as on October 1st of the year. Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/University Certificate only will be taken as authentic.
Hostel facilities: Available for boys and girls.

Fees to be paid at the time of admission.*


Institute Fees: In addition to the tuition fee of US $ 4000 per annum (US $2000 for SAARC), a B.Tech candidate has to pay Rs 8657/-and a B.Arch candidate has to pay Rs.8707/- (which includes an extra amount of Rs 50/- for NASA Annual subscription), which is to be remitted as a demand draft drawn in favour of Director, NIT Calicut payable at State Bank of India, NITC Branch (Code No. 2207). Hostel Fees: Rs.8500/- to be submitted as demand draft, drawn in favour of Chief Warden, NITC Hostels payable at State Bank of India, NITC Branch (Code No. 2207). Hostel room rent varies between Rs.150 to 200 per month and mess charges (as is where is basis) are about Rs.2000 per month. Officer to whom the candidate is to report on arrival : CHAIRPERSON UG ADMISSIONS Documents to be brought by the candidate at the time of admission :
The Originals of the following documents have to be brought at the time of reporting for admission: Admission offer cum fee receipt issued by EdCIL. Original mark sheet and Pass certificate of the qualifying examination. Gap certificate (applicable for candidates who have passed the qualifying examination in years prior to the current academic year i.e., 2008-2009) duly signed by Public Notary or any other competent authority from the respective states. Original School Leaving / Transfer Certificate from the Institution last attended. Original Character and Conduct Certificate from the Institution last attended. Character and Conduct Certificate from a Gazetted Officer issued after November 30, 2008 for candidates who have passed the qualifying examination in years prior to the current academic year i.e., 2008-2009. 10th standard / Matriculation or equivalent certificate in original. Eight copies of recent passport size photograph and one stamp size photograph. Medical Fitness Certificate from the competent authority (a Govt. Medical Officer not below the rank of Asst. Surgeon) including test for communicable diseases. Passport and VISA in original to prove the eligibility of DASA candidature.
Note: Attested copies (two numbers of each) of the above certificates are to be brought at the time of

admission. Candidates are advised to keep sufficient number of attested copies of mark lists and other certificates for their future use, if any, since all the original certificates submitted to NIT Calicut at the time of admission will be retained in the Institute till the completion of the B.Tech. / B.Arch. programme. All the original certificates of the candidates will be retained in the institute till the completion of the B.Tech/B.Arch programme or on withdrawal of admissions.

Date, time & venue of reporting:

17thJuly 2009 at 10.00 AM at Lecture Hall Complex Aryabhatta Hall. Candidate must be present in person along with parent/authorized guardian for taking admission at NITC. Admission in absentia (proxy) will not be allowed even on medical grounds. If the candidate does not report on the above mentioned date and time, his/her admission is likely to be cancelled.
Date of Orientation Programme Commencement of First Semester Classes : 22-07-2009, 9.00 a.m. : 23-07-2009, 8.00 a.m.

General Information
The climate at Calicut is tropical and moderate with temperature ranging from 20 to 34 degree Celsius. The humidity is high. Calicut experiences heavy rainfall during June - August, moderate rainfall during October-November, and mild winter during December-January. Candidates are advised to bring adequate rain gear. ATM facility is available in the campus from State Bank of India and ICICI bank.
