8. Project Description, Goals, and Objectives Provide a narrative description of your project by addressing the following questions. What specific and measurable goal do you hope to achieve by the end of the project? The Conference will increase the quality and quantity of Fulbright Vietnamese Student Program applicants, especially from the South of Vietnam. We hope to increase the percentage of grantees from the South to 40% of total grantees in 2013. Later we will expand it to include other US funded scholarship programs and invite more successful Fulbright alumni to attend. Project Justification: What specific problem are you trying to solve and why this is important? Firstly, many Fulbrighters believe that there are not many networking events to have them work together. Secondly, although the number of grantees has exceeded 20 since 2005, it can still be boosted. Thirdly, from 2005 to 2009, the majority of grantees of Vietnamese Student Program are from Ha Noi with 54% of the grants. We would like to adjust the grants percentage more equally among regions, create a more equal number of accepted grantees from other areas, especially from the South. Detailed description of project activities: What concrete actions do you plan to take in order to achieve the project goals? We expect to organize this event on Sunday, December 19th, 2010 to create a platform for Fulbright alumni to network, implement and teach of the concepts explored during their

exchange programs. Furthermore, the Conference will be the place to promote the Mentoring Program in which qualified potential applicants will be matched with Fulbright Vietnamese Student Program alumni. This mentoring program is an opportunity for the alumni to share their exchange experience and academic and cultural knowledge accomplished in the Fulbright Programs with the mentees, help with the application process and interviews. Expected results, including expected impact on target groups? We expect to sharply increase the number of attending Fulbrighters, leading companies, and headhunters every year. Also, the number of grantees in 2013 is expected to go above 30 people and spread more equally among regions, 40% in the South of Vietnam. The Conference will be a great place for Fulbright alumni to meet, network and share experiences with themselve and the audience. Project sustainability and long-term effects? How would the project continue after the funding ends? In the first year, the Conference will run on grants from the US Embassy, venue sponsors, fees from leading companies and headhunters, sponsors, partners, and booth space sales income from participating colleges, English centers, overseas study consultants and other services providers. In the following years, the Conference, however, can sell tickets at $5 per person, which will be a stable source of income replacing the Funding Grant in the first year. Furthermore, when our recommendation is expanded to include other US funded programs, it will attract more people and become more prestigious. Then we can have many more financial partnerships, additional events, services, and network platforms. 9. Project Timeline Please find attached the Project Timeline
