Socialization DeIined:
- Socialization reIers to that liIe long process oI learning and
relearning as people move Irom one social group to another
- Socialization is the process by which we acquire those modes oI
thinking, Ieeling and acting that are necessary to participate
eIIectively in the larger community.
- Socialization is the process by which a society transmits its cultural
values to individuals in order that they can Iunction properly as it`s
members.
- It is a process whereby a person acquires and internalizes the
beahvior, concepts,knowledge and skills that are essential Ior
social living

tradition; It includes the complementary process oI transmission oI the

- Socialization is the learning process where the individual acquires
A status, plays a corresponding role and emerges with a
personality.

Personality DeIined:
- Personality is the organization oI the biological, psychological, social, cultural,
and moral Iactors which underlie a person`s behavior.
- Personality reIers to the sum total oI all the physical or
biological, psychological or mental, social or cultural, emotional,
and spiritual traits oI a person which underlie his behavior and
which makes him distinct, unique, or diIIerent Irom all the
others

Factors that inIluence PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT
1. BIOLOGICAL INHERITANCE or HEREDITY
- The child inherits the biological or physical and mental capacity oI
his parents.
2. ENVIRONMENT
- Environment reIers to the physical surroundings, both natural and
artiIicial, which aIIect the growth, development and existence oI
living organisms. It reIers to the geographic, cultural, and social
environment.
a. Geographic Environment
- Geographic environment reIers to nature and all natural resources
which aIIect personality Iormation.
b. Cultural Environment
Culture environment reIers to the artiIicial or man-made
environment like building, schools, Iactories, clothing, machines,
tools, and other objects made by man. It also includes the learned
ways oI living, norms, values, patterns oI behavior, which are
transmitted to the chilI through social groups. Culture determines
what can be learned and acquired Irom one`s society; thus, a
person behaves or acts within the premise oI his culture.

- Social environment reIers to the diIIerent social groups and the
social interactions that take place in the groups oI which a person
