UPGRADING SKILLS FOR PLUMBERS Objective To upgrade the competency of local semi-skilled Plumbers with a minimum of only 3 years

s local experience to Bechtels equivalent standards of 5 years minimum overseas and 3 years minimum local experience. Minimum Competency Entry Level Must have a basic competency on Plumbing. Upgrading Competency Must be able to perform assembling, installing, maintaining and repairing of pipes, fixtures and fittings used for water distribution and waste water disposal systems in buildings and industrial plants. Methodology: A. Classroom Work Basic knowledge in plumbing. CATEGORIES NUMBER OF HOURS Course Topic: 1. Safety practices. PPE hardhat, safety glasses, hearing protection, full body safety harness. OHS procedures for controlling hazards / risks in workplace noise, ventilation, illumination, impact, pressure, noise, temperature, radiation, and biological and chemical hazardous materials. Dealing with workplace accidents, fire and emergencies Assistance in the event of a workplace emergency. Control of heavy lift rigging equipment and rigging work execution. Fall protection devices including safety belts, lifelines, lanyards, and safety nets. Requirements for signaling, barricading, electrical lock-out, tagging, rigging, scaffolding; safe use of material handling equipment including rope, slings, chains, shackles, and hooks; hand tools, power operated tools, abrasive wheels and tools, and jacks; welding and cutting outfit; requirements for fire prevention; material inspection for damage or flaws that might cause injury during installation. Potential hazards in underground obstructions such as existing utilities, energized electrical cables and process lines; inadequate slope or shore or trenches or excavations; work in tight or cramped quarters. Explain the procedure on how to install underground domestic pipe. 12. Explain and enumerate different kinds of valves usually used in domestic pipe fabrication. 13. In plumbing system, what are the materials used for sealing joints connection for sanitary and water lines. 14. Explain the procedure on how to determine the take-off of 90 degrees and 45 degrees elbow for 4" and 6" domestic pipe. 15. Explain and enumerate tools used in plumbing works. 16. Explain the procedure on how to install ceramic shower and wash basins. 17. What tool is used for laying out a sockolet on a pipe? 18. What fittings are used to connect between pipes? 19.
