4-H Food Drive


The Plymouth County 4-H Food Drive is finishing up! Please check back with us next month on the final numbers as we tally up the amount of food that was collected by Plymouth County 4-H Clubs to donate to those in need this season. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far, every little bit makes a difference and is appreciated.

Plymouth County 4-H Awards Program


The Plymouth County 4-H Advisory Council will be hosting the Plymouth County 4-H Annual Awards Program on Friday January 20th at the Kingston VFW Hall in Kingston, MA. All 4-H members, volunteers and families are invited to join this event. Dinner will be served and members and volunteers will be honored for their accomplishments during the past 4-H year. Each family that attends is asked to bring a dish for dessert and also an item for the silent auction. The silent auction funds will go back to the Plymouth County 4-H Advisory Council to help pay for 4-H programs like this. 4-H Leaders and Volunteers, please contact Molly for more information on nominating youth for awards. All nominations are due by December 1. If you would like to recognize someone in 4-H for anything, please let Molly know.

Plymouth County 4-H Facebook


Plymouth County 4-H now has a facebook page. Please search for Plymouth County 4-H and click like to make sure you receive all notices and reminders through facebook. We hope to have the facebook page updated on a daily basis with reminders about 4-H programs. If you would like a picture added, please email it to Molly, mvollmer@umext.umass.edu

Plymouth County 4-H Fundraiser


The Plymouth County 4-H Advisory Council has a new fundraising opportunity for Plymouth County 4-H. The council is selling South Shore Dinner Club booklets featuring discounts and deals for many local restaurants and business in Plymouth County. Each booklet contains over $2000 in discounts and only costs $29.95! These make great gifts, if you or your club is interested in helping to sell these booklets for Plymouth County 4-H please contact Molly at mvollmer@umext.umass.edu Dinner Club Booklets are available now at the Extension Office. We would hope that each club could sell just 5 booklets and help raise $1000 for Plymouth County 4-H programs. Thank you to 4-H volunteer Jeanine Adams for coordinating this project!

Massachusetts 4-H Foundation Mini Grants for 4-H Clubs


The Massachusetts 4-H Foundation has 4-H Matching grants for up to $200 and 4-H publicity grants for $50 available to all Massachusetts 4-H Clubs. Please check their website at www.mass4hfoundation.org for more information about criteria for each grant and an application. All enrolled 4-H Clubs are eligible for these fundraising opportunities.

4-H Bowling Fundraiser


Timber Lanes Bowling Alley at 460 Bedford Street in Abington, MA is now hosting a Plymouth County 4-H Fundraiser. Just go to www.candlepin.com and make your bowling reservations online. 4-H Horse Judging Results


The Plymouth County 4-H Horse Judging Contest was held on November 19 at D& H Farm in East Bridgewater, MA. A big Thank You to Tara Devine owner of D&H Farm for letting 4-H use her facility and horses. Also thanks to Reva Levin, 4-H Horse Judging Coach for arranging the event, Paige Mechan, Assistant Coach, and all the volunteers and parents who helped that day. 4-H Horse Bowl and Hippology


The Plymouth County 4-H Hippology and Buzzer Board contest was held on December 3 at the Hanson Senior Center. Thank you to Valerie Schell, 4-H Horse Bowl Coach and Priscilla McGilvary, 4-H Hippology Coach for their work organizing this event. And thank you to the parents and volunteers who helped to correct tests and keep the program running on time. Congratulations to all who tried out for the county

The Plymouth County 4-H Judging, Hippology and Buzzer Board teams will all compete at the Massachusetts 4-H Horse Bowl Contest in April. From there, senior 4-Hers who make the state team will have a chance to compete nationally at the 4-H Horse Round up in Louisville, Kentucky next fall.

Duxbury Holly Days!


A Round of A Paws and Satucket River 4-H Dog Clubs participated in the Duxbury Holly Days event Nov. 27. They introduced the public to dog agility, obedience, showmanship and freestyle while talking about 4-H. In attendance were: from A Round of A PawsCheryl Acampora, Abby Garcia, Lauren Keefe, Chloe McAuliffe, Victoria Radin and Madison Piers (also from Satucket). From Satucket River was Katie Hardman, Meghan Lee and Ashley Hoyt.

Snow and Inclement Weather Policy


We would like to remind 4-H members and volunteers to check the 4-H Blog and Facebook page for the most up to date information on 4-H events and cancelations. We will try to cancel events as early as possible if bad weather is predicted. If possible phone calls will be made for county wide events. 4-H Leaders will determine if it is necessary to cancel club meetings.

4-H/FFA Leadership Conference


Massachusetts 4-H and FFA are offering a joint conference for teens with a focus on leadership. It will be held on January 6-7 at the Clara Barton Center in Oxford, MA. Cost is only $50 if you register by December 1, register for $60 up until December 10. For more information and a registration form, please go to www.mass4h.org and click on Leadership programs. Plymouth County 4-H Teen Council


4-H Member Chloe McAuliffe and her dog participate in a 4-H Agility demonstration at Holly Days Plymouth County 4-H Teen Council will be doing a 4th annual Toys for Tots collection drive in December. Please consider donating a new unopened toy for a child in need this holiday season. Our 4-H Teens will be collecting at the Extension Office and East Middleboro 4-H Clubhouse, all donations will go to the Marines Toys for Tots program and distributed locally to a child this season. Please make your donations by December 16.
