A/C WITH FMS UNS-1C SOFTWARE 603.2 Limitations

Part 1
PAGE 1 / 2 Issue 1

LIMITATIONS
GENERAL Each FMS computer software must be identified 603.2 on the CDU page. The FMSs comply with AC 20-130A and in particular meet the accuracy criteria of AC 20-130A for en-route, terminal and approach areas provided the FMS is not in Dead Reckoning (DR in PFD) and there is no POS annunciation on any CDU pages, and satisfy the accuracy criteria of AC 20-129. The minimum navigation performance required by NAT MNPS regulations (French arrt of November 5th, 1987 and FAR Part 91 Appendix C) are demonstrated provided that there are at least 2 FMSs and 2 IRSs in NAV mode operating on board or 2 GPS or 1 IRS in NAV mode operating on board and 1 GPS. Dual UNS-1C GPS system operating Software Control Number (SCN) 603.2 with internal GPS sensor SCN 10.2, or later approved software versions, as installed has been found to comply with the requirements for GPS primary means of navigation in oceanic and remote airspace as defined by FAA Order 8110.60 when used in conjunction with the 10751 SCN 11.2, or later approved prediction program. The here-above statement is valid if there is no FMS and/or GPS related failure message/label on PFD and CDU. This does not constitute an operational approval. LIMITATIONS UNS-1C navigation must be periodically verified during the flight by comparison with the other means of navigation. FUEL, TIME prediction informations are provided for advisory purposes only and must not be used for flight planning. Use of Command Heading (CMD HDG) in a configuration where Attitude and Heading sensor n1 is an AHRS is not authorized. VNAV Observing the Minimum Safe Altitude and obstacles clearances remains a crew responsibility. Transition VNAV En Route / VNAV in Approach are not authorized. Do not select VNAV in climb. The VNAV page should not be used for reference during approach phase: altitudes and path angles are all displayed on NAV page.

APPROACH Use of the FMS during approach is forbidden: - Except for published RNAV procedures, a transcription of published VOR, VOR/DME, GPS overlay or NDB approach procedures. - If the navaids specified in the procedures are not available and displayed on the EFIS and actively monitored by the crew. - If the APPR annunciation in the PFD is not green before FAF. - If POS or DR annunciation is illuminated in the PFD or APPR is illuminated red in the PFD.

CAUTION For the approach procedure where the MAP (Missed Approach Point) is located after the runway threshold, use of VNAV is forbidden. After passing the FAF (Final Approach Fix), approach must be made in Vertical Speed mode down to the MDA (Minimum Descent Altitude). The computation of the vertical speed must be done by the crew.

CAUTION Altitude constraints on FAF and MAP are automatically displayed on PFD. Modification of these constraints and addition of altitude constraints on other waypoints should not be attempted: - Modification or addition of constraints done by the crew before the activation of APPROACH will be suppressed by the system when APPROACH is activated. - After APPROACH is activated, modification or addition of constraints result in loss of FMS APPROACH. GPS GPS is not approved as a primary means of navigation for continental en-route, approach and terminal operations. Use of the FMS during approach is forbidden for non precision GPS procedures (GPS Stand alone Approaches).

Use of Command Heading (CMD HDG) in a configuration where Attitude and Heading sensor n1 is an AHRS is not authorized. FMS Vspeeds database A12540 are representative of Airplane Flight Manual performance charts up to Revision 9. These database take into account performance charts for take-off and landing below 10,000 ft. FMS Vspeeds database must be disregarded if Airplane Flight Manual performance charts are updated through a revision upper than revision 9. CAUTION Vspeed prediction information are provided for advisory purposes only. In case of discrepancy between the advanced performance mode database and the data calculated from the airplane documentation, the latter applies. VNAV Observing the Minimum Safe Altitude and obstacles clearances remains a crew responsibility. Transition VNAV En Route / VNAV in Approach are not authorized. Do not select VNAV in climb. A/C WITH FMS UNS-1C SOFTWARE 603.2 Normal procedures

Part 2
PAGE 1 / 2 Issue 1

NORMAL PROCEDURES
GENERAL If remote/oceanic operations are based on GPS only, check FDE availability before flight. Check waypoints and altitude constraints using published charts (SID, STAR, APP, GA). Constantly check the trajectory compare to the published procedure by displaying on the EFIS the navaids provided for in the procedure. APPROACH - Engage LNAV mode. - Approach mode is automatically armed at 30 NM from the destination airport. If not, press ARM APPR on the CDU. - Check APPR annunciation is illuminated green on PFD to inform the crew that the system is configured properly to conduct (non precision) approach using FMS for navigation. CAUTION
DASSAULT AVIATION Proprietary Data

It is the crew responsibility to ensure that the approach pattern as displayed by FMS is in accordance with the published procedures. VERTICAL NAVIGATION - In order to engage the VNAV mode, select the NAV SOURCE FMS on the coupled side. - Check altimeter setting on the coupled side (the FMS uses the altitude information given on the PFD on the coupled side). - Engage VNAV mode. NOTE If a message TOP OF DESCENT ALERT is not read on the CDU before a TOD (Top Of Descent), the VNAV does not engage. - VNAV En Route can be used until level off at the altitude of the FAF. (or until 10 NM before FAF). Then deselect VNAV. - Switch for example in ALT or VS mode. - For approach, decrease ASEL down to MDA. - Upon passing the FAF, engage VNAV.

HOLDING PATTERN CAUTION The FMS does not always take into account the published maximum Holding Pattern speed. - Adapt and stabilize the airplane speed 0.5 minute prior the airplane overflies the fix for the first time. - Check that the FMS message HIGH GND SPD FOR HOLDING is out when passing the entry point. GO-AROUND - Activate the go-around procedure by depressing the GO AROUND pushbutton on the control column (the MISSED APPROACH procedure is then automatically set in the FMS). - Reselect the NAV SOURCE FMS. - Select ASEL at the required altitude. - Engage LNAV and VNAV as needed. NOTE
DASSAULT AVIATION Proprietary Data

The MISSED APPROACH line select on the CDU does not activate the go-around procedure. It is used to enter the missed approach procedure into the FMS. It has no action on the horizontal and vertical modes. The ASEL must be increased up to the go-around altitude. CROSSFILL (XFILL) The XFILL function allows crossfill of initialization, routes and fuel data. Notably the Pseudo-Vortac, Holding Pattern, Direct To, SXTK, VS target are not crossfilled.
