Digital Logic Design Laboratory Project.

EEEB161/EEEB261
General instruction

Choose only one question from any section below. The questions in Section 2 are limited to the listed ones. Perform the project in a group of two. However, for questions in Section 2, two groups are allowed to combine and implement the design. You must implement the work in hardware and write a group report. In the report, show all the work involves in designing the circuit i.e. state diagrams, Kmaps, equation, circuit, etc. Simulate the circuit you construct and get your instructor's verification before you can construct the actual circuit. Use minimum number of IC.
Section 1 (Normal Markings): Pseudo-random number generator You are asked to design a number generator that will generate pre-determine number sequence and show it on 7-segment display in the space of 3 seconds each. The sequence will repeat itself forever until a reset button is pressed. Your instructor will decide the sequence. (Refer attachment)

Disco light You are asked to design a controller for a 'disco'-like light. It consists of 8 LEDs. The sequence of the light blinking can be any combination as determined by the instructor). E.g.:

One-by-one running from left to right. One-by-one running from right to left. All 8 blinking 5 times, 1 second apart. Two-by-two jumping. Any other possible ways the instructor find interesting.

Section 2: You are required to design a Traffic Light system, based on the questions requirements. You are allowed to do the project in two groups, i.e 4 people in the group. Listed below is the list of the project questions with the areas they cover. Should you opt one of the questions, request the complete question and requirements from your instructor. T-junction Input-based-mode traffic light (A) Input-based-mode traffic light (B) Traffic light system with pedestrian lane Prioritize system (A) Prioritize system (B) Prioritize system (C) Cross-junction Traffic-light system with pedestrian crossing Traffic-light system with Timer Display Traffic-light system with Vehicle Sensor

Digital Logic Design Laboratory Project. EEEB161 Cross-junction Traffic Control Designing

Design Requirement: A car from Main Street would have the option of either turning right to lane B or go straight to lane A when the traffic light gives a green signal. All cars at remaining lanes are at a hold. (red signal) You are required to design a traffic system control for this scenario. For each of the traffic light that u design, it should meet the requirements below: Duration of Green signal Duration of Yellow signal Duration of Red signal Case 2: Given that A and C are main street and both B and D substreet. Create a traffic-control system to the requirements below: Main Street: Duration of green signal : 10s Duration of yellow signal: 2s : 10s : 3s : Total green signal duration of each A, B and C+ duration of yellow signal.

Substreet: Duration of green signal Duration of yellow signal Case 3:

: 6s : 2s

Lane D is the least used junction. Design your system control following the requirements set in Case 1 when there are 10 cars on lane D. If the number of cars is lesser, follow the requirements as in Case 2.

EEEB161/261 Project. Traffic Light System Cross Junction. 1. Traffic with Pedestrian Crossing. a. Design a traffic light system for a cross junction road. b. Every road is two lanes. Every lane can go to any other lanes. c. Traffic timing depends on your requirement. d. One of the roads has a pedestrian crossing, with road-crossing request. e. When the pedestrian crossing button is pushed, the system will shorten the green light of the road, if it is in the green phase. f. The traffic from other road coming into the other lane of the road will also be affected (depending on your requirement) so that the pedestrian can cross both lanes. g. Make sure that the pedestrian crossing system serves the first request in a phase only, i.e. if continuous or more than one request is made in the phase, it will be treated as one request only. 2. Traffic with Timer Display a. Design a traffic light system for a cross junction road. b. Every road is two lanes. Every lane can go to any other lanes. c. Traffic timing depends on your requirement. d. Two junctions has a timer display, that display how much time left before the green light or the red light for their routes will appear (the junction pair depends on your requirement). e. When one display shows how long the red light will lasts, the other display will show how long the green light will lasts. After time elapses, the display will change the display type, i.e. the former lane will has the green light duration display and the latter will have the red light duration display. 3. Traffic with Vehicle Sensor a. Design a traffic light system for a cross-junction road. b. Every road is two lanes. Every lane can go to any other lanes. c. Traffic timing depends on your requirement. d. Every road has same duration of traffic flow. e. However, one main road has a traffic sensor. f. If there are less than 7 cars on the lane, the traffic flow will follow the default system. g. If there are more than 7 cars waiting in the lane, the system will shorten the duration of the other lanes to allow the traffic from the main road to flow.
