Social Entrepreneurship is defined as finding innovative and sustainable ways of solving social problems using entrepreneurialskills.Insteadofprofitbeingthemainendgoal,itseessocialdevelopmentasabenchmarkofthe enterprises success. This has been growing phenomenon worldwide as evidenced by development of social entrepreneurshipcentersintopuniversitiessuchasHarvard,StanfordandOxford.InthePhilippinesalone,there are already several social enterprises that have helped raise the lives of different marginalized groups in the country. TheAteneodeManilaUniversitySchoolofGovernmentsYouthLeadershipandSocialEntrepreneurshipunit,has been crafting and executing training programs that aims to introduce the concept of social entrepreneurship to studentsandprofessionals.Therehasalwaysbeenaconstantchallengetomakeourfutureleadersoftodaybe moreactiveinengagingthemselvesintorelevantmattersandissuesofthesociety.Thechallengeispostedasthe involvementoftheyouth,withthemcomprisingabignumberofourpopulation,canmakeabigimpactiftheycan be part of the solution on issues and problems regarding education, poverty, unemployment and brain drain, environmentandcalamities,politicsandgovernanceandamongothers.AseminaronSocialEntrepreneurshipcan helpthemgainknowledgenotonlyaboutthefundamentalsofbeinganentrepreneurbutalsotheprincipleson howtoorganize,createandmanageaventuretoachievesocialchange.Toequipthemwiththenecessaryskills and knowledge now is a big step towards honing the hearts and minds of the leaders who can be big changemakers. And with that hopefully, we see the start of a new breed of leaders that are ready to take the challengeinmakingsustainableeffortsforthelandgivingnotonlythemavaluablelesson,butthesocietyaswell. Withthat,weproposeatwodayYouthLeadershipandSocialEntrepreneurshiptrainingprogramtoyourschool (16traininghours),giventoamaximumof40participantscomposedofcollegescholarsandyouthleadersthat areinterestedwithbusinessanddevelopmentwork.Thosewhowillsuccessfullyfinishthistrainingprogramwill receiveaCertificateofCompletionfromtheAteneoSchoolofGovernment. Inthispartnership,yourofficewillbetheoneinchargetomarketthetrainingprogramandcoordinatewiththe differentpossibleparticipantsforthetraining;andalsoresponsibleinprovidingforthelogisticalrequirements such asthevenue/classroom, computerandLCD Projector needed in the courseof the training program.The Ateneo School of Government, on the other hand, will provide for the lecture materials and training kits, speakersandfacilitators,andalsothefoodforthetrainingprogram.
