AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE INTERNSHIP

M.B.A Media and Entertainment course ensure that the student is given practical training and experience in working for the media and entertainment fields. This is achieved by means of on-the-job training. Some of the aims and objectives of the training are: To sharpen and strengthen communication skills, namely, speaking, reading, writing and listening abilities and apply these effectively in a working situation. To hone inter personal skills. To help them get rid of inhibitions and speak with confidence and clarity so that they are understood at first hearing. To learn how to function in a work place, co- operate and work together as a group with their colleagues. To supplement the skills learnt in theory classes.

REASON FOR CHOICE OF WORK PLACE

I chose to work with Zee Kannada since it is an established institution. It was also very encouraging to see that they take the ideas and other inputs that are given by the interns. I personally watched Zee TV and other channels associated with Zee network, and find that the programmes capture the eye of the audience. The channels is one of the oldest channels in India and remarkable to see the growth and development of the channels through the years.

CHANNELS LEGACY

JOB DESCRIPTION

I worked in Zee Kannada for a month from May 30, 2011 to June 30, 2011. I worked in the department of marketing for the course of the month from Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 6:30pm. I reported to my mentors, Ms. Vachana Shetty till June 20, 2011. Then reported to Ms. Jasmine Arora for the rest of the month. I had the chance to report on the task assigned, come up with ideas, minuting the reports after every meeting attended. I was welcomed warmly and was taught on the job. I was given a variety tasks to work on. It was a learning experience and extremely educating.

TASKS
1. Participated in discussion of Neevenanthira marketing plan. 2. Was part of the logo change discussion. 3. Contributed ideas towards the logo change. 4. Was part of the execution of the marketing plan for Yaariguntu Yaarigilla. 5. Contributed ideas for marketing plan for Suryakanthi Mathu Kathe. 6. Participated in the shooting of Yaariguntu Yaarigilla from the 13th 15th

and 28th 29th of June.


7. Helped in the execution of the marketing plan for the Suryakanthi Mathu

Kathe.
8. Was part of the handover process from Vachana Shetty to Jasmine Arora. 9. Learnt the basics of how the Marketing Department functions. 10. Learnt the functioning of the PR Department. 11. Learnt how the TRPs and GRPs are taken. 12. Learnt the effect of TRP and GRP on the company growth and

development.
13. Also helped frame questions for the show Yaariguntu Yaarigilla. 14. Helped create a database for the auditions for Yaariguntu Yaarigilla. 15. Was asked to gain knowledge by going through the following websites that

RETROSPECTION
During the 30 days I was with Zee Kannada, I learnt a lot more about Television, and the functioning of the channel. It taught me the technicalities of the showcasing of the programme in a way that theory cannot. I learnt how to design a programme which is unique and very attracting to the rural crowd, interact with different kind of people and do legwork and research on ideas and trends. I also learnt how to make an actual marketing plan for the rural as well as the urban crowd. I was taught how to execute and do the follow up that is required after the implementation of the marketing plan. I loved the working environment. My colleagues were friendly and pleasant working relationships were formed. Work environment
