You need to install the BTS3812E cabinet in compliance with the field situation of the equipment room. 6 Installing the SPBC/SPBT on the Wall If the BTS3812E supports over 16 E1s, you need to install the SPBC/SPBT on the wall. 7 Installing the Power Cables and the PGND cables of the BTS3812E This topic describes how to install the power cables and the PGND cables of the BTS3812E. The power cables refer to the -48 V power cables, the +24 V power cables, and the 220 V power cables. Complying with the Local Safety Regulations


When operating the device, comply with the local safety regulations. The safety precautions provided in the documents are supplementary. You must comply with the local safety regulations.

General Installation Requirements


The personnel in charge of installation and maintenance must be trained and master the correct operating methods and safety precautions before beginning work. The rules for installing and maintaining the device are as follows:
l l

Only the trained and qualified personnel can install, operate and maintain the device. Only the qualified specialists are allowed to remove the safety facilities, and repair the device. Any replacement of the device or part of the device (including the software) or any change made to the device must be performed by qualified or authorized personnel of Huawei. Any fault or error that might cause safety problems must be reported immediately to the personnel in charge.

Grounding Requirements
The following requirements are applicable to the device to be grounded:
l l

Ground the device before installation and remove the ground cable after uninstallation. Do not operate the device in the absence of a ground conductor. Do not damage the ground conductor. The unit (or system) must be permanently connected to the protection ground before operation. Check the electrical connection of the device before operation and ensure that the device is reliably grounded.

Safety of Personnel
Ensure the following:
l l

When lightning strikes, do not operate the device and cables. When lightning strikes, unplug the AC power connector. Do not use the fixed terminal or touch the terminal or antenna connector.
NOTE

The previous two requirements are suitable for the wireless fixed terminal.
l

To prevent electric shock, do not connect safety extra-low voltage (SELV) circuits to telecommunication network voltage (TNV) circuits. To prevent laser radiation from injuring your eyes, never look into the optical fiber outlet with unaided eyes. To prevent electric shock and burns, wear the electrostatic discharge (ESD) clothing, gloves and wrist strap, and remove conductors such as jewelry and watch before operation.

Before operation, the device must be secured on the floor or other fixed objects, such as the walls and the mounting racks. Do not block ventilation openings while the system is running. When installing the panel, tighten the screw with the tool.

1.2 Electricity Safety


High Voltage

DANGER

The high voltage power supply provides power for running the system. Direct contact with the high voltage power supply or contact through damp objects may result in fatal danger. Non-standard and improper high voltage operations may result in fire and electric shock. The personnel who install the AC facility must be qualified to perform operations on high voltage and AC power supply facilities. When installing the AC power supply facility, follow the local safety regulations. When operating the AC power supply facility, follow the local safety regulations. When operating the high voltage and AC power supply facilities, use the specific tools instead of common tools. When the operation is performed in a damp environment, ensure that water is kept off the device. If the cabinet is damp or wet, shut down the power supply immediately.

Thunderstorm
The following requirements are suitable only for the wireless base station or the device with an antenna or GPS antenna.

DANGER
In a thunderstorm, do not perform operations on high voltage and AC power supply facilities or on a steel tower and mast.

High Electrical Leakage

CAUTION
Ground the device before powering on the device. Otherwise, the personnel and device are in danger.

If the "high electrical leakage" flag is stuck to the power terminal of the device, you must ground the device before powering it on.

Power Cable

CAUTION
Do not install and remove the power cable with a live line. Transient contact between the core of the power cable and the conductor may generate electric arc or spark, which may cause fire or eye injury.

Before installing or removing the power cable, turn off the power switch. Before connecting the power cable, ensure that the power cable and label comply with the requirements of the actual installation.

Fuse

CAUTION
To ensure that the system runs safely, when a fuse blows, replace it with a fuse of the same type and specifications.

Electrostatic Discharge

CAUTION
The static electricity generated by the human body may damage the electrostatic sensitive components on the circuit board, such as the large-scale integrated circuit (LIC). In the following situations, the human body generates a static electromagnetic field:

Movement of body parts Clothes friction Friction between shoes and the ground Holding plastic in hand

The static electromagnetic field will remain within the human body for a long time. Before contacting the device, plug boards, circuit boards, and application specific integrated circuits (ASICs), wear a grounded ESD wrist strap. It can prevent the sensitive components from being damaged by the static electricity in the human body. Figure 1-1shows how to wear an ESD wrist strap.

1.3 Inflammable Environment


DANGER
Do not place the device in the environment that has inflammable and explosive air or fog. Do not perform any operation in this environment. Any operation of the electrical device in the inflammable environment causes danger.

1.4 Battery
Storage Battery

DANGER
Before handling the storage battery, read the safety precautions for the handling and connection of the storage battery. Incorrect operation of storage batteries may cause danger. During operation, ensure the following:

Prevent the electrolyte from overflowing and leakage.

Electrolyte overflow may damage the device. It will corrode the metal parts and the circuit boards, and ultimately damage the device and cause short-circuit of the circuit boards.

General Operations
Before installing and maintaining the storage battery, ensure the following:
l l l l

Use special insulation tools. Use eye protection devices and operate with care. Wear rubber gloves and an apron in case of an electrolyte overflow. Always keep the battery upright when moving. Do not place the battery upside down or tilt it.

Short-Circuit

DANGER
Short-circuit of the battery may cause injury. Although the voltage of a battery is low, high transient current generated by short-circuit will release a surge of power. Keep metal objects away from the battery to prevent short circuit. If they have to be used, disconnect the battery in use before performing any other operation.

Harmful Gas

CAUTION
l

Do not use unsealed lead-acid storage batteries, because the gas emitted from it may result in fire or device corrosion. Lay the storage battery horizontally and fix it properly.

The lead-acid storage battery in use will emit flammable gas. Therefore, store it in a place with good ventilation and take precautions against fire.

High Temperature

CAUTION
High temperature may result in distortion, damage, and electrolyte overflow of the battery. When the temperature of the battery exceeds 60oC, check whether there is acid overflow. If acid overflow occurs, handle the acid immediately.

Acid

CAUTION
If the acid overflows, it should be absorbed and neutralized immediately. When handling a leaky battery, protect against the possible damage caused by the acid. Use the following materials to absorb and neutralize acid spills:

Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda): NaHCO3 Sodium carbonate (soda): Na2CO3

Antacids must be used according to the instructions provided by the battery manufacturer.

Lithium Battery

CAUTION
There is danger of explosion if the battery is incorrectly replaced.

Replace the lithium battery with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer. Dispose of the used battery according to the instructions provided by the manufacturer. Do not dispose of the lithium battery in fire.

1.5 Radiation
Electromagnetic Field Exposure

CAUTION
High power radio-frequency signals are harmful to human body. Before installing or maintaining an antenna on a steel tower or mast with a large number of transmitter antennas, the operator should coordinate with all parties to ensure that the transmitter antennas are shut down. The base transceiver station (BTS) has RF radiation (radiation hazard). Suggestions for the installation and operation of BTSs are given in the following section. Operators are also required to comply with the related local regulations on erecting BTSs.
l

The antenna should be located in an area that is inaccessible to the public where the RF radiation exceeds the stipulated value.

If the areas where RF radiation exceeds the stipulated value are accessible to workers, ensure that workers know where these areas are. They can shut down the transmitters before entering these areas. Such areas may not exist; but if they exist, the areas must be within a range of less than 10 m around the antennas. Each forbidden zone should be indicated by a physical barrier and striking sign to warn the public or workers.

Laser

CAUTION
When handling optical fibers, do not stand close to, or look into the optical fiber outlet with unaided eyes. Laser transceivers or transmitters are used in the optical transmission system and associated test tools. Because the laser that is transmitted through the optical fiber produces a small beam of light, it has a very high power density and is invisible to human eyes. If a beam of light enters the eye, the retina may be damaged. Normally, staring into the end of an unterminated optical fiber or broken optical fiber with the unaided eyes from a distance of more than 150 mm [5.91 in.] will not cause eye injury. Eyes may, however, be damaged if an optical tool such as a microscope, magnifying glass or eye loupe is used to stare into the bare optical fiber end. Read the following guidelines to prevent laser radiation:
l l l l

Only the trained and authorized personnel can perform the operation. Wear a pair of eye-protective glasses when you are handling lasers or optical fibers. Ensure that the optical source is switched off before disconnecting optical fiber connectors. Never look into the end of an exposed optical fiber or an open connector if you cannot ensure that the optical source is switched off. To ensure that the optical source is switched off, use an optical power meter. Before opening the front door of an optical transmission system, ensure that you are not exposed to laser radiation. Never use an optical tool such as a microscope, a magnifying glass, or an eye loupe to look into the optical fiber connector or end.

Read the following instructions before handling optical fibers:


l l

Only the trained personnel can cut and splice optical fibers. Before cutting or splicing an optical fiber, ensure that the optical fiber is disconnected from the optical source. After disconnecting the optical fiber, use protecting caps to protect all the optical connectors.

1.6 Working at Heights


CAUTION
When working at heights, ensure that the objects do not fall. When working at heights, ensure that the following requirements must be met:

The personnel who work at heights must be trained. The operating machines and tools should be carried and handled safely to prevent them from falling. Safety measures, such as wearing a helmet and a safety belt, should be taken. In cold regions, warm clothes should be worn before working at heights. Ensure that the lifting appliances are well prepared for working at heights.

Lifting Weights

CAUTION
Do not access the areas under the arm of the crane and the goods in suspension when lifting weights.
l l l

Ensure that the operators have been trained and qualified. Check the weight lifting tools and ensure that they are intact. Lift the weight only when the weight lifting tools are firmly mounted onto the weightbearing object or the wall. Use a concise instruction to prevent incorrect operation. The angle between the two cables should be less than or equal to 90o in the lifting of weights (See Figure 1-2).

Safety Guide on Ladder Use


Checking the Ladder
l l

Check the ladder before using it. Check the maximum weight that the ladder can support. Never overload the ladder.

Placing the Ladder


l

The slant angle is preferred to be 75o. The slant can be measured with the angle square or with arms, as shown in Figure 1-3. When using a ladder, place the wider end of the ladder on the ground and take protective measures on the base of the ladder against slippage. Place the ladder on a stable ground.

When climbing the ladder, ensure the following:


l l l

The gravity of the body does not shift from the edge of the ladder. Keep balance on the ladder before performing any operation. Do not climb higher than the fourth highest step of the ladder.

If you tend to climb to the roof, the length of the ladder should be at least one meter higher than the eave, as shown in Figure 1-4.

1.7 Mechanical Safety


Drilling

CAUTION
Do not drill on the cabinet without permission. Inappropriate drilling on the cabinet may damage the electromagnetic shielding and internal cables. Metal shavings from the drilling may result in a short-circuit of the circuit board if they get into the cabinet.

Before drilling a hole on the cabinet, remove the cables from the cabinet.

During the drilling, wear blinkers to protect your eyes. During the drilling, wear the protective gloves. Prevent the metal shavings from getting into the cabinet. After drilling, clean the metal shavings in time.

Handling Sharp Objects

CAUTION
When carrying the device by hand, wear the protective gloves to prevent injury by sharp objects.

Handling Fans
l

When replacing a component, place the component, screw, and tool at a safe place to prevent them from falling into the running fan. When replacing the ambient equipment around the fan, do not place the finger or board into the running fan until the fan is switched off and stops running.

Moving Heavy Objects


Wear the protective gloves when moving heavy objects.

CAUTION
l l

Be careful when moving heavy objects. When moving the chassis outwards, be aware about the unfixed or heavy objects on the chassis to prevent injury. Two persons should be available to move a chassis; one person must not move a heavy chassis. When moving a chassis, keep your back straight and move stably to prevent a sprain. When moving or lifting a chassis, hold the handle or bottom of the chassis. Do not hold the handle of the installed modules in the chassis, such as the power module, fan module, or board.

1.8 Others
Inserting and Removing a Board

CAUTION
When inserting a board, wear the ESD wrist strap or gloves. Insert the board gently to prevent any bent pins on the backplane.

Bundling Signal Cables

CAUTION
Bundle the signal cables separately from the strong current cables or high voltage cables.

Cabling Requirements
At a very low temperature, movement of the cable may damage the plastic skin of the cable. To ensure the construction safety, comply with the following requirements:

When installing cables, ensure that the environment temperature is above 0oC. If cables are stored in the place below 0oC, move the cables into a place at a room temperature and store the cables for more than 24 hours before installation. Move the cables with care, especially at a low temperature. Do not drop the cables directly from the vehicle.

It mainly processes baseband signals. 2.2 Installation Modes for the BTS3812E The BTS3812E can be either installed on the concrete floor or on the ESD floor. You need to install the BTS3812E cabinet on the spandrel girder or on the bearing wall in the case of insufficient load capacity. 2.3 Space Requirements for Installing the BTS3812E The BTS3812E cabinet can be installed either against a wall or not against a wall. It is recommended that the BTS3812E cabinet not be installed against the wall when maintenance paths are required around the cabinet so that you can perform OM at the rear of the BTS3812E cabinet. For more details about the functions of the MAFU, refer to Functions of the Macro NodeB RF Subsystem. MTRU subrack The MTRU subrack in full configuration houses a maximum of six MTRUs. The MTRU processes RF signals and amplifies downlink signals. For more details about the functions of the MTRU, refer to Functions of the Macro NodeB RF Subsystem. Fan subrack Each fan subrack has one fan box, which house four fans and one fan monitoring board. The fan monitoring board measures the temperature at the cable hole at the bottom of cabinet. Then the board reports the data to the NMPT or automatically adjusts the rotating speed of the fans based on the temperature. The fans dissipate heat through the top and the bottom of the cabinet. The ventilation loop between air inlets at the bottom and the rear half part of the cabinet top enables heat dissipation for the entire cabinet. Power busbar The busbar is located on the right of the cabinet. It is used to lead power from the top of the cabinet to the subracks. The nine power switches on the busbar are used to control the power supply to the components inside the cabinet. Each label on a switch identifies the mapping between the the switch and the component controlled by the switch. The NMPT, NMON, HULP, HDLP, NUTI/NDTI (Iub interface board), HBBI, HBOI, and NCCU are configured in the baseband subrack. 2.3 Space Requirements for Installing the BTS3812E


The BTS3812E cabinet can be installed either against a wall or not against a wall. It is recommended that the BTS3812E cabinet not be installed against the wall when maintenance paths are required around the cabinet so that you can perform OM at the rear of the BTS3812E cabinet. The cabinet can be installed against the wall if you do not need to perform OM at the rear of the cabinet.

The space between the rear of the BTS3812Es and the wall should be at least 800 mm. The space between the side of the BTS3812Es and the wall should be at least 800 mm. All the cabinets should be lined up in one row to facilitate cable routing if the RNC, NodeBs, and power distribution cabinet are installed in the same equipment room. There should be no space between BTS3812Es and other equipment in the same row.

3.1 Unpacking the BTS3812E


You need to unpack the goods on site to check the integrity before installing the equipment.

Context

When transporting or moving the equipment, components, or parts, you must prevent them from colliding with doors, walls, shelves, or other objects. When transporting or moving the equipment, components, or parts, you should not touch the uncoated metal surface of them with sweat-soaked or dirty gloves.

Procedure
Step 1 Check whether the total number of goods is in conformity with the packing list attached to the packing case. If... Then...

The total number of the goods is in conformity Go to Step 2. with the number on the packing list, The total number of the goods is not in conformity with the number on the packing list, Find out the cause and contact the Huawei local office.

Step 2 Check whether the packing case is in good condition. If... The packing case is in good condition, The packing case is severely damaged or soaked, Then... Go to Step 3. Find out the cause and contact the Huawei local office.

Step 3 Check the types and quantity of the goods with the packing list, and then perform the next step according to the checking result. If... Types and quantity of the goods are in conformity with those on the packing list, There is any short or wrong shipment or damage to the goods, Then... Sign the Packing List for confirmation together with the customer. Fill in the Cargo Problem Report and submit it.

Site preparations have been completed by referring to BTS3812E Site Preparation Guide. Steps described in 3.1 Unpacking the BTS3812E have been completed. Tools and instruments listed in 3.2 Tools and Instruments for BTS3812E Installation have been arranged.

You need to contact Huawei engineers in the case of the following situations:

5.1 Installing the BTS3812E Cabinet on the Concrete Floor with Sufficient Load Capacity
This part describes how to install the BTS3812E cabinet on the concrete floor with sufficient load capacity of greater than 5,500 N/m2.

Context

CAUTION
If the floor of the equipment room is made of precast slabs, do not install multiple cabinets on one slab, as shown in Figure 5-1.

Procedure
Step 1 Determine the position for installing the cabinet. 1. 2. Determine the position for installing the cabinet according to the engineering design and referring to 2.3 Space Requirements for Installing the BTS3812E. Place the installation position mark template. Figure 5-2 shows the template.
NOTE

The direction of the template with a gap represents that of the front door of the cabinet.

Mark four anchor points for the expansion bolts and for edges of the outer side of the lower frame. Use a percussion drill with a 16 bit to make holes at the anchor points.

CAUTION
You need to take proper measures to protect your eyes and respiratory tract against the dust before drilling holes.
NOTE

The depth of the holes must range from 52 mm to 60 mm. All the holes must be in the same depth.

After drilling holes, measure the distance between the holes. If there is a big error between them, relocate and drill new holes. Clean the dust both inside and around the holes by using a cleaner. Measure the distance between holes. Ensure that the holes in the floor and those in the support can match each other. If there is a big error between the holes, relocate and drill new holes before inserting the bolts. Insert the expansion bolt assembly into the holes and hammer them until the expansion tubes are buried into the holes, as shown in Figure 5-3.

CAUTION
Ensure that the guiding ribs on the nut are inserted into the guiding slots of the expansion tube before you install the bolt. 4. Remove the bolt M12 x 60, spring washer 12, and flat washer 12, as shown in Figure 5-4.

Put the lower frames on the ground. Then align the holes on the frames with the holes on the ground, as shown in Figure 5-5.

Lead the bolt M12 x 60 through the spring washer, flat washer, and insulating washer, route the bolt through the lower frame and insulating spacer, and then insert the bolt into the nut in the floor, as shown in Figure 5-5. Put on the bolts. Ensure that the distance between the outer surfaces of the two lower frames is from 527 mm to 528 mm. Then, tighten the bolts crosswise until the fastening torque is 45 Nm. Measure and adjust the levelness of the lower frames.

Put a level bar at the top of the lower frames to measure the levelness of them. If the lower frames are not level, adjust them by adding adjusting pads between the lower frames and the insulating spacers.

Step 3 Test the insulation between the lower frames and the expansion bolt. 1. 2. Set the multimeter to the megaohm position. Test the resistance between the lower frames and the expansion bolts, as shown in Figure 5-6.

If the resistance is smaller than 5 megaohms, the lower frames are not insulated from the ground. Go to Step 3.3.

If the resistance is greater than 5 megaohms, the lower frames are insulated from the ground and the test is passed. Go to Step 4.

Disassemble all the expansion bolts. Check whether there are insulating washers missed or damaged.

If there are insulating washers missed or damaged, reinstall them and level the lower frames. If there are no insulating washers missed or damaged, check whether the multimeter is faulty or whether the setting is correct.

Step 4 Secure the cabinet.


NOTE

The upper frames have been assembled at the bottom of the BTS3812E cabinet before delivery.

Place the cabinet on the lower frames and ensure that the upper frames are on the lower frames. Push the cabinet along the guide rails until the upper and lower frames fit properly. Use two bolts to secure the upper and lower frames, as shown in Figure 5-7.

5.2 Installing the BTS3812E Cabinet on the ESD Floor


Installation of the cabinet on the ESD floor varies with the type of the floor. This topic describes a commonly used method of installing the BTS3812E cabinet.

Context

CAUTION

If the floor of the equipment room is made of precast slabs, do not install multiple cabinets on one slab, as shown in Figure 5-9. Try to keep the A600 support away from the ESD floor framework when you select a position for the cabinet. If the cabinet has to be installed on the position where the floor framework lies, remove the corresponding framework. It is recommended that the first cabinet be aligned with the edge of the floor.

Adjust the support to a specified height, adjust the height locking bolt to prevent the support from falling down. Then align the holes in the support with those in the floor. Lead each bolt M12 x 60 through the spring washer 12, the flat washer 12, and the hole in the support, and then insert the bolt into the nut in the floor. Align the hole in the ESD floor with the hole in the support, lead the bolt M12 x 70 through the flat washer 12 and spring washer 12 in turn, and then insert the bolt into the hole in the floor, as shown in Figure 5-15. Hammer the support slightly to get the ESD floor into full contact with the upper surface of the support, and then remove the bolt M12 x 70, as shown in Figure 5-15.

Use a torque wrench to tighten the expansion bolts crosswise until the fastening torque reaches 45 Nm.

10. Use a torque wrench to tighten the height locking bolts of the support until the fastening torque reaches 45 Nm.

CAUTION
Tighten the locking bolts on the support from middle to periphery. Step 4 Install and adjust the lower frames. 1. 2. 3. Remove the four bolts and washers that connect the ESD floor with the support. Put insulating spacers and lower frames on it. Measure and adjust the levelness of the lower frames.
NOTE

Use a level bar to measure the levelness of each section on the lower frames. If the lower frames are not level, adjust them by adding adjusting pads between the lower frames and the insulating spacers.

After the lower frames are properly adjusted, add a spring washer 12, flat washer 12, and insulating washer to each of the four bolts M12 x 70, and lead the bolts through the lower

Set the multimeter to the megaohm position. Test the resistance between the lower frames and the expansion bolts, as shown in Figure 5-17.

5.3 Installing the BTS3812E Cabinet on Concrete Floor with Insufficient Load Capacity
This topic describes how to install the BTS3812E cabinet on the concrete floor with insufficient load capacity of less than 5,500 N/m2.

Context
Before installing the cabinet on the concrete floor with insufficient load capacity, you need to reinforce the load capacity of the building. In this situation, either of the following methods can be applied:

Load capacity of the concrete floor in the equipment room is insufficient. The equipment room spans a limited area. Spandrel girders are unavailable in the equipment room. Expansion bolt assemblies are difficult to be inserted in the floor (for example, on the precast slab). It is allowed to drill holes in the bearing wall. Installation requirements Supporting U-steels are required. The length of the U-steel in the wall should be no less than half the thickness of the wall. If the wall is not thick enough, install the steel through the wall. The steel is 20 mm to 30 mm over the floor. The cabinet should not be installed against the wall. Installation methods Use the supporting Usteels to bridge two bearing walls and then install the cabinet on the steels. Fix the supporting U-steels to the ground across the two spandrel girders and then install the cabinet on the steels. Supporting U-steels are required. The supporting U-steels should be placed on at least two spandrel girders. The cabinet should not be installed against the wall. Installing the Cabinet on the Spandrel Girder ESD floor is unavailable in the equipment room. Load capacity of the concrete floor in the equipment room is insufficient. It is not allowed to drill holes in the bearing wall or no bearing wall is available. Spandrel girders are available on the floor and it is allowed to install expansion bolt assemblies on the girders.

5.3.1 Installing the BTS3812E Cabinet on the Bearing Wall


This topic describes how to install the BTS3812E cabinet on the concrete floor with insufficient load capacity of smaller than 5,500 N/m2. In this situation, you need to use the supporting Usteels to bridge two bearing walls and then install the cabinet on the U-steels.

To install the equipment in a building, ask architectural and structural engineers to check the load capacity of the building from the following respects:

If the load capacity is insufficient, reinforce the building. Supporting U-steels are necessary when the load capacity of the concrete floor in the equipment room is insufficient for carrying the cabinet. The supporting U-steel should be made of GB707-88/14b-3000 hot-rolled U-steel and have the total length of 3,000 mm.

Procedure
Step 1 Prepare supporting U-steels. 1. 2. Cut U-steels for a proper length according to the engineering design. Drill holes in the U-steels to fix the base, as shown in Figure 5-20.

The cross-sectional area of the holes should be a bit larger than that of the U-steels. Typically, the shape of the holes is rectangle.

If there is a big error between the holes, relocate and drill new holes. Use the U-steels to bridge the walls. Fill the gaps of the holes with concrete, as shown in Figure 5-22.

Tighten the nuts slightly. Measure and adjust the levelness of the lower frames.
NOTE

Use a level bar to measure the levelness of each section on the lower frames. If the lower frames are not level, adjust them by adding adjusting pads between the lower frames and the insulating spacers.

After the leveling, tighten the nuts crosswise until the fastening torque reaches 45 Nm. Set the multimeter to the megaohm position. Test the resistance between the lower frames and the expansion bolts, as shown in Figure 5-24.

If the resistance is smaller than 5 megaohms, the lower frames are not insulated from the ground. Go to Step 5.3. If the resistance is greater than 5 megaohms, the lower frames are insulated from the ground and the test is passed. Go to Step 6.

Measure the distance between the anchor points. Ensure that the dimensions are accurate. Use a percussion drill with a 16 bit to make holes at the anchor points.

CAUTION
You need to take proper measures to protect your eyes and respiratory tract against the dust before drilling holes.
NOTE

The depth of the holes must range from 52 mm to 60 mm. All the holes must be in the same depth.

After drilling holes, measure the distance between the holes. If there is a big error between them, relocate and drill new holes. Clean the dust both inside and around the holes by using a cleaner. Measure the distance between holes. Ensure that the holes in the floor and those in the support can match each other. If there is a big error between the holes, relocate and drill new holes before inserting the bolts. Insert the expansion bolt assembly into the holes and hammer them until the expansion tubes are buried into the holes, as shown in Figure 5-29.

Installing the SPBC/SPBT on the Wall

If the BTS3812E supports over 16 E1s, you need to install the SPBC/SPBT on the wall.

The procedure for installing the SPBT on the wall is the same as that for installing the SPBC on the wall. To install an SPBC on the wall,do as follows:

Step 1 Determine the position for installing the SPBC according to the engineering design. Step 2 Place the SPBC in the determined position and closely against the wall. Then, mark the four anchor points using the marking pen, as shown in Figure 6-1. Figure 6-1 Anchor points of the SPBC (unit: mm)

Step 3 Use the percussion drill with a 12 bit to drill four holes on the anchor points.

CAUTION
You need to take proper measures to protect your eyes and respiratory tract against the dust before drilling holes.
NOTE

The depth of the holes must range from 50 mm to 60 mm. All the holes must be in the same depth.

Step 4 After the holes are drilled, use the cleaner to clear the dust both inside and around the holes. If the inter-hole distance is too long or too short, locate and drill holes again. Step 5 Slightly fasten the expansion bolt and vertically place it in the drilled hole. Then,hammer the bolt till the expansion bolt assembly is fully buried in the hole,as shown in Figure 6-2.

CAUTION
Ensure that the guiding ribs on the nut are inserted into the guiding slots of the expansion tube before you install the bolt.

After the expansion bolt assembly is disassembled, ensure that the top of the expansion tube is level with the wall. If the top of the expansion tube is not level with the wall, the SPBC is not steady on the wall. Step 7 Align the four mounting ears with the expansion bolts. Step 1 Remove the protecting hood from the EMI filter and power input terminal. Step 2 Use a straight screwdriver to loosen the screw from the hole near the wiring terminal on the power input side. Step 3 Connect the cold-pressed terminal of the power cable to the relevant hole on the left of the wiring terminal, as shown in Figure 7-7.

7.2.2 Installing the +24 V Power Cables of the BTS3812E


The +24 V power cable is used to lead external power into the BTS3812E cabinet.

Procedure
Step 1 Remove the protecting hood from the EMI filter and power input terminal. Step 2 Use a straight screwdriver to loosen the screw from the hole near the wiring terminal on the power input side. Step 3 Connect the cold-pressed terminal of the power cable to the relevant hole on the left of the wiring terminal, as shown in Figure 7-10.
NOTE

Connect the cold-pressed terminal on the +24 V power cable to the terminal labeled +, and connect that on the +24 V RTN cable to the terminal labeled -. The dashed lines shown in Figure 7-10 represent the cables installed before delivery.

8.2 Preparing for Board and Module Installation of the BTS3812E


This describes the preparations you need to make on site before installing the boards and modules of the BTS3812E.

Context

CAUTION
Correctly wear an ESD wrist strap during the operation to protect the boards or modules from the electrostatic discharge.

Procedure
Step 1 Clean the subracks. Step 2 Check whether there are any bent, missed, or broken pins on the backplane. If... There is a bent pin, Then... Replace it with a new one. Otherwise, straighten it with a pair of sharp-nose pliers in the case of emergency.

There is a missed pin, Replace the backplane. Step 3 Check whether the sockets on the backplanes and the boards are deformed. If... The deformation is not obvious, The deformation is serious, Then... Adjust the socket using a pair of sharp-nose pliers. Replace the backplane or board.

Step 4 Prepare a #2 cross screwdriver (6 mm in diameter) to tighten the captive screws M3 on board panels. ----End

8.3 Installing the Boards in the Baseband Subrack


The boards in the baseband subrack include NBBI/HBBI, NDLP/HDLP, HULP, NMPT, NDTI, NUTI, HBOI, and NMON. You need to set the DIP switches before installing the NDTI and NUTI.

Prerequisite
NOTE

The -48 V cabinet of the BTS3812E supports transportation with boards. That is, you do not need to install the boards in the baseband subrack on site. The +24 V cabinet of the BTS3812E does not support transportation with boards. That is, you need to install the boards in the baseband subrack on site.

DIP switches on the NDTI/NUTI are successfully set. For details about how to set DIP switches on the NDTI, refer to DIP Switches on the NDTI Board. For details about how to set DIP switches on the NUTI, refer to DIP Switches on the NUTI Board.

Context

CAUTION
Do not touch the PCB and components except jumpers and DIP switches on the board when you take out or install a board.

Procedure
Step 1 Use a #2 cross screwdriver (6 mm in diameter) to remove the two screws on the board panel anticlockwise, and ensure that the ejector levers on the panel can move freely, as shown in part a of Figure 8-1.

Step 2 Hold the upper ejector lever on the front panel with one hand, and hold the bottom of the board with the other. Then put the board in the corresponding guide rail in compliance with the nameplate. Step 3 Hold the ejector levers and push in the board along the guide rail gently until the board is in position. Step 4 Turn inward the upper and the lower ejector levers to the status shown in part b of Figure 8-1. 8.4 Installing the MTRU/MAFU Modules


This describes the procedure for installing the MTRU modules in the MTRU subrack and MAFU modules in the MAFU subrack.

Context

CAUTION
You need to use both hands to install the MTRU and MAFU modules because they are heavy.

Procedure
Step 1 Hold the handle on the module with one hand, support the module at the bottom with the other, and then insert the module into the slot. Step 2 Push the module along the guide rails. Step 3 Fasten the screws in the four conners of the panel. ----End

8.5 Installing the PMU/PSU Modules


The BTS3812E cabinet (-48 V) is not configured with the PMU or the PSU module. The BTS3812E cabinet (+24 V) has a maximum of four PSU modules and has no PMU modules. The BTS3812E cabinet (220 V) has a maximum of one PMU module and three PSU modules.

Procedure
Step 1 Check whether the eight bits of the DIP switch on the PMU are all set to OFF, as shown in Figure 8-3. If not, turn the DIP switch to OFF manually.
NOTE

In a real DIP switch on the PMU, the numbers of the digits are marked upside down. For your easy understanding, the numbers of the digits have been inverted in Figure 8-3.

Step 3 Hold the puller on the front panel and push the PSU or PMU gently along the guide rails until the module is in position. Step 4 Push the puller back to the position and then fasten the two screws on the PMU panel.

8.6 Installing the BESP


The BESP is installed at the top of the BTS3812E cabinet.

Context
Generally, only one BESP is installed in the BTS3812E cabinet before delivery. Each BESP supports eight E1s. If larger transport capacity is required, you need to install another BESP.

Procedure
Step 1 Remove the protecting hood on the BESP from the top of the BTS3812E cabinet. Step 2 Use four screws to fix the other BESP, as shown in Figure 8-5.

9.1 Requirements for NodeB Cabling


The power cables and signal cables of the NodeB should be routed in compliance with the cabling specifications to avoid electromagnetic interference to the signals.

Requirements for General Cabling


Bending radius of the cables should meet the following specifications:
l

Bending radius of the 1/2" feeder > 125 mm, 7/8" feeder > 250 mm, 5/4" feeder > 380 mm, 13/8" > 510 mm. The minimum bending radius of the 1/4" feeder is 25 mm, and that of the 1/2" feeder is 32 mm. The bending radius of the power cable or PGND cable should be at least five times of its diameter after the cable is fixed. For the power cable or PGND cable that is often bent or pulled out/plugged in, the bending radius should be at least seven times of its diameter. The bending radius of the optical cable should be at least 20 times of its diameter. The bending radius of the E1/T1/J1 cable should be at least seven times of its diameter after the cable is fixed. For the E1/T1/J1 cable that is often bent or pulled out/plugged in, the bending radius should be at least 10 times as long as its diameter. The bending radius of the signal cable should be at least five times of its diameter after the cable is fixed. For the signal cable that is often bent or pulled out/plugged in, the bending radius should be at least seven times of its diameter.

The cables should be bundled as follows:


l l

Cables of different types should be routed separately. The cables cannot be coiled. The cables should be tightly and neatly bundled. Ensure that the jackets of the cables are not damaged. Two adjacent cable ties should be spaced 200 mm and face the same direction. The cable ties at the same horizontal line should be on the straight line. Extra length of cable ties should be cut off. Labels or nameplates should be attached or bundled on the cables after they are installed.

The cables should be routed in category as follows:


l l l

Cables of different types should be routed separately. Cables of different types cannot be crossed. Space between cables of different types should be larger than 30 mm when the cables are routed parallel inside the cabinet. Space between cables of different types should be larger than 100 mm when the cables are routed parallel outside the cabinet. If such requirements cannot be met, the cables should be separated with specified objects.

Special Cabling Specifications


Cabling specifications for routing the power cables and the PGND cables are as follows:

Positions of routing the cables should meet requirements of the engineering design and the general cabling specifications.

If the cable is not long enough, replace the cable. Do not add connectors or solder joints to lengthen the cable. Insulating treatment should be done on the cables if they need to be bundled and routed on the metal cable racks. Do not install fuses or switches on the cables. The -48 V power cable and GND cable should be bundled together. Grounding points at both ends of the PGND cables should be in proper electric contact and processed with antirust treatment. The low-voltage AC power cable for the NodeB should be covered with a metallic conduit and be buried in the ground for at least 50 m before they are led into the equipment room. Note that if such cables are shorter than 50 m, they should be completely buried in the ground. If such cables are routed overhead and led into the room, surge protection for the connector of the AC power cable will be affected. The PGND cables should be buried in the ground or routed indoors. The PGND cables should not be routed overhead before they are led into the equipment room.

The specifications for routing the E1/T1 cables are as follows:


l

Positions of routing the cables should meet requirements of the engineering design and the general cabling specifications. The cables should not be routed overhead outdoors. If the cables have to be routed outdoors, the cables should be covered with metallic conduits which are reliably grounded at both ends. If the cables have to be routed outdoors and it is impossible to install them under the ground, they should be covered and shielded with metallic conduits which are reliably grounded outdoors or connected to the grounding bar in the room. If the cables are covered with metallic jackets, ensure that both ends of each jacket are reliably grounded outdoors or connected to the grounding bar in the room. Extra length of E1 cables should be reserved when they are curved. Before the E1 cables are led out of the cabinet, they should be properly grounded. The wires not in use should be grounded in the equipment room.

The specifications for routing the optical cables are as follows:


l

Positions of routing the cables should meet requirements of the engineering design and the general cabling specifications. Extra length of the optical cable should be reserved at the point that the cable is curved. Do not stretch the optical cables, step on the cables, or place heavy object on the cables. Keep the cables away from sharp objects lest they be damaged. The optical cable that is curved or pressed or the optical connector which is damaged cannot be used. Extra optical cables should be coiled on the specified device such as the fiber coiler. Use moderate force to coil the optical cables. Do not bend the cables forcibly lest they be damaged. For the bare optical cables, protection tubes should be configured for them if necessary. Dustproof caps should be used to cover the optical connectors not in use. If one end of the optical cable is connected to an optical device, do not look directly at the end face of the optical connector. Otherwise, your eyes may be hurt.

Use soft materials such as fireproof cotton to fill in the optical connector at the top of the cabinet. You need to check whether the optical connector is polluted before installing the cables. If it is polluted, it is recommended that you use a fiber cleaner or dustfree cloth to clean the connector.

9.2 Installing the Transmission Cables of the BTS3812E


This topic describes how to install the BTS3812E transmission cables which refer to E1/T1 cables, optical cables, and Ethernet cables. 9.2.1 Installing the E1/T1 Cable of the BTS3812E The E1/T1 cable of the BTS3812E is used to transmit signals on the Iub interface. 9.2.2 Installing the Optical Cable of the BTS3812E The optical cable should be installed on site when the HBOI or the NUTI is configured on the BTS3812E and when the channelized or unchannelized optical sub-board is installed on the NUTI. When the NUTI is configured, the optical cable connects the BTS3812E and the RNC. When the HBOI is configured, the optical cable connects the BTS3812E and the RRU. 9.2.3 Installing the Ethernet Cable of the BTS3812E The Ethernet cable of the BTS3812E is used to transmit signals on the Iub interface.

Installing 16 E1s/T1s for the BTS3812E


The BTS3812E is installed with 8 E1/T1 signal transfer cables before delivery. You need to install another BESP when you install 16 E1s/T1s for the BTS3812E.

Prerequisite
Before delivery, only one BESP is configured for the BTS3812E to provide 8 E1s/T1s for lightning surge.If 16 E1s/T1s are installed for the BTS3812E, another BESP should already be installed. For details, refer to 8.6 Installing the BESP.

Context
When you connect the E1/T1 cable of the BTS3812E to the peer E1/T1 cable, adhere to the following principles:

NOTE

The methods of installing the T1 cable and the E1 cable are the same. This task describes how to install the E1 cable.

Procedure
Step 1 As shown in Figure 9-1,fix one end of the DB37 female connector bundled close to the BESP to the connector labeled J3 of the BESP. Before delivery,the DB78 male connector at one end of the E1/T1 signal transfer cable from the NCCU to BESPs is fixed to the E1/T1 port on the NCCU panel.The other end of the E1/T1 signal transfer cable has two female connectors, one of which, that is, the DB37 female connector, is fixed to the port labeled J3 of the BESP before delivery,and the other DB37 female connector is laid bundled close to the BESP.

Installing 32 E1s/T1s for the BTS3812E


The BTS3812E supports a maximum of 32 E1s/T1s. When you install the 32 E1s/T1s, you need to install the SPBC or the SPBT.

Prerequisite
Install the SPBC before you use the 75-ohm coaxial cable. Install the SPBT before you use the 120-ohm twisted pair cable. For details, refer to 6 Installing the SPBC/SPBT on the Wall.

Context
You need to configure two NUTI boards with the E1 sub-boards in slots 14 and 15 when installing the 32 E1s/T1s. When you connect the E1/T1 cable of the BTS3812E to the peer E1/T1 cable, adhere to the following principles:

The surge protection unit protects signals over twisted pair cables from lightning surge. The end labeled with a, b, and s connects to heavy current. The unit must connect to the correct wiring clips on the DDF to ensure proper surge protection. When surge protection is not required, use the circuit breaker to break the twisted pair wires on both sides.

9.2.2 Installing the Optical Cable of the BTS3812E


The optical cable should be installed on site when the HBOI or the NUTI is configured on the BTS3812E and when the channelized or unchannelized optical sub-board is installed on the NUTI. When the NUTI is configured, the optical cable connects the BTS3812E and the RNC. When the HBOI is configured, the optical cable connects the BTS3812E and the RRU.

Context
Either the single-mode optical cable or the multi-mode optical cable can be used on the NodeB. The former has a yellow PVC coat and the latter has a orange coat.

Procedure
Step 1 Select an optical cable of proper length in compliance with the field situation. Step 2 Attach a temporary label to each optical cable. The content on a temporary label can either be customized or be the same as that on an engineering label. Step 3 Coat the optical cable with a corrugated PVC tube.

Place the optical cable on a slope and then coat the cable with a corrugated PVC tube. Do not cut the tube at random because the exposed optical cable may be damaged. If you have to cut the tube, wrap up the cut with insulating tapes to protect the optical cable from being damaged by articles with sharp edges.

Step 4 Route the optical cable by referring to 9.1 Requirements for NodeB Cabling. Step 5 Lead the optical cable through the cable inlet on the left of the cabinet top, route it along the left side of the cabinet to the cable trough of the baseband subrack, and then through the cable trough to the front of the NUTI, as shown in Figure 9-9. The following description is based on the procedure for connecting the optical cable to the channelized or unchannelized optical sub-board of the NUTI. Installation and routing of the optical cable for the HBOI are the same.

Step 6 Remove the dustproof cap from the connector. Step 7 Align the LC connector on the optical cable with the optical interface on the channelized or unchannelized optical sub-board on the NUTI, and insert the connector into the optical interface. Ensure that you hear a click sound, which indicates that the optical cable is securely connected. Step 8 Bind the optical cable to the cable rack or the cable trough by using cable ties. Step 9 Remove the temporary labels at both ends of the optical cable and then attach the engineering labels to the optical cable. ----End

9.2.3 Installing the Ethernet Cable of the BTS3812E


The Ethernet cable of the BTS3812E is used to transmit signals on the Iub interface.

Context
The FE port on the NUTI can be self-adaptive to the straight-through cable and the crossover cable. Therefore, Ethernet cables of both types can be applied to the NUTI. It is recommended that you select the straight-through cable.

Procedure
Step 1 Route the Ethernet cable by referring to 9.1 Requirements for NodeB Cabling. Step 2 Lead the Ethernet cable through the cable inlet on the left of the cabinet top, route it along the left side of the cabinet to the cable trough of the baseband subrack, and then through the cable trough to the front of the NUTI. Step 3 Make RJ45 connectors for the Ethernet cable by referring to Installing the Shielded Ethernet Connector or Installing the Unshielded Ethernet Connector. Step 4 Connect the RJ45 connector to the FE port on the NUTI. Figure 9-10 shows the cabling inside the cabinet.

The surge protection alarm cable on the BTS3812E cabinet top is used to report the working state of the surge protector at the top of the cabinet to the NMLP and thus to inform the BTS3812E about availability of the surge protector.

Context
Before delivery, one end of the cable is fixed to the ALARM port on the power surge protector, and the 2-pin connector at the other end is fixed to the KEY_IN0 port on the NMLP. For combined BTS3812E cabinets, the 2-pin connector of the surge protection alarm cable of the extended cabinet needs to be fixed on site to the KEY_IN1 port on the basic cabinet.

Procedure

9 Installing BTS3812E Cables

Procedure
Step 1 Route the Boolean output cable by referring to 9.1 Requirements for NodeB Cabling. Step 2 Prepare a DB25 male connector of the BTS3812E Boolean output cable on site. Step 3 Fix the DB25 male connector of the BTS3812E Boolean output cable to the MON_KEY_OUT port on the NMLP at the top of the cabinet. ----End

9.5 Installing the RF Cables of the BTS3812E


The RF cables required for the BTS3812E refer to the RF jumpers and the MTRU-MAFU RF cables. 9.5.1 Installing the MTRU-MAFU RF Cable of the BTS3812E The MTRU-MAFU RF cable is used to transmit RF signals between the MTRU and the MAFU. 9.5.2 Installing the RF Jumper of the BTS3812E This topic describes how to install the jumper between the feeder and the BTS3812E. The jumper has DIN connectors at both ends.

9.5.1 Installing the MTRU-MAFU RF Cable of the BTS3812E


The MTRU-MAFU RF cable is used to transmit RF signals between the MTRU and the MAFU.

Procedure
Step 1 Obtain the configuration of the BTS3812E by referring to RF Cables Between the MTRU and the MAFU of a Macro NodeB. Confirm the RF signal cable between the MTRU and the MAFU. Step 2 Connect the RF RX end of the MAFU to the RF RX end of the MTRU and connect the RF TX end of the MAFU to the RF TX end of the MTRU by referring to Figure 9-16.
NOTE

Connections between the MTRU-MAFU RF signal cable depend on the configuration types of the BTS3812E.Figure 9-16 shows the MTRU-MAFU RF cable connections in 4-way RX diversity and 1 to 2 carriers. Matched loads must be installed on ports or connectors not in use on the MAFUs. This can avoid power leakage.

9.5.2 Installing the RF Jumper of the BTS3812E


This topic describes how to install the jumper between the feeder and the BTS3812E. The jumper has DIN connectors at both ends.

Context

CAUTION
The RF jumper should be connected tightly to avoid RF signal leakage.

Procedure
Step 1 Fix one end of the jumper to the connector of the feeder. Step 2 Attach labels to the jumper 100 mm away from each end by referring to Labeling the Antenna System. Step 3 The DIN connector of the jumper must be linked to the antenna port on the top of the MAFU.
NOTE

Tighten the DIN male connector to 27 Nm by using a torque wrench.

The antenna connectors at the top of the MAFU are labeled ANT_TX/RXA and ANT_RXB. The port labeled ANT_TX/RXA supports receiving and transmitting of signals while the port labeled ANT_RXB supports only receiving of signals. The NodeB configurations determine which antenna connector to use. ----End

9.6 Installing the EMI Signal Cable of the BTS3812E


This topic describes how to install the EMI signal cable which include the -48 V BTS3812E EMI signal cable, the +24 V BTS3812E EMI signal cable, and the 220 V BTS3812E EMI signal cable. 9.6.1 Installing the EMI Signal Cable of the BTS3812E (-48 V) The EMI signal cable (48 V) is used to supply power to the EMI and to transmit EMI signals. 9.6.2 Installing the EMI Signal Cable of the BTS3812E (+24 V) The EMI signal cable (+24 V) is used to supply power to the EMI and to transmit EMI signals. 9.6.3 Installing the EMI Signal Cable of the BTS3812E (220 V) The EMI signal cable (220 V) is used to supply power to the EMI and to transmit EMI signals.

9.6.1 Installing the EMI Signal Cable of the BTS3812E (-48 V)


The EMI signal cable (48 V) is used to supply power to the EMI and to transmit EMI signals.

Context
The EMI and the BTS3812E cabinet are connected through the following four cables:

Procedure
Step 1 Connect the power cable of the EMI to the active or standby power port on the EMI. Step 2 Connect the PGND cable of the EMI to the grounding screw on the EMI. Step 3 Connect the signal cable of the EMI to the RS485 port on the EMI.

Connect the 48 V RTN cable to the wiring terminal labeled GND by referring to Figure 9-18. Then, use a cross screwdriver to tighten the terminal. Connect the PGND cable to the wiring terminal on the grounding bar by referring to Figure 9-18. Then, use a cross screwdriver and a wrench to tighten the terminal. Check whether the cables are securely connected. Use the multi-meter to check whether the power cable of the EMI and the power cable at the top of the cabinet are properly connected. If the two cables are not properly connected, disconnect and then reinstall them. Reinstall the protecting hood. Use cable ties to fix the 48 V power cable, 48 V RTN cable, and PGND cable of the EMI to the cable outlets of the protecting hood. Use a cross screwdriver to remove the screws on the NMLP protecting hood at the top of the BTS3812E cabinet. Then, remove the protecting hood. Plug the DB9 male connector of the EMI signal cable into the EMON connector on the NMLP at the top of the cabinet. Figure 9-19 shows the NMLP at the top of the cabinet. The EMON port is a DB9 female connector and transmits RS485 signals. Figure 9-20 shows the definition of each pin on the EMON port.

Plug the DB9 male connector of the EMI signal cable into the EMON connector on the NMLP at the top of the cabinet. Figure 9-23 shows the NMLP at the top of the cabinet. 10.1 Checking the Power-On Status of the BTS3812E Cabinet


This topic describes how to perform the power-on status check of the BTS3812E cabinet.

Prerequisite
l

As shown in Power Supply Requirements of the BTS3812E, the power supply requirements of the BTS3812E are met. Hardware of the BTS3812E is installed. All the power switches on the BTS3812E busbar are set to OFF. The power supply of the BTS3812E is cut off.

Procedure
Step 1 Turn on the power switch of the BTS3812E cabinet. Step 2 Check whether the output voltage of the BTS3812E cabinet is proper. If... The output voltage of the BTS3812E is out of the range from -40 V DC to -60 V DC. The output voltage of the BTS3812E is within the range from -40 V DC to -60 V DC. Then... A power failure occurs to the cabinet. Go to Step 3.

The power-on check of the cabinet ends.

Step 3 Turn off the power switch of the BTS3812E cabinet to cut off the power supply. Step 4 Check the output voltage of the power distribution cabinet, the installation of the power cables, and the routing of the BTS3812E power cables. Step 5 Go to Step 2 to check the output voltage again till the output voltage of the BTS3812E becomes proper. ----End

10.2 Checking the Power-On Status of the BTS3812E Board


The EMI signal cable (48 V) is used to supply power to the EMI and to transmit EMI signals.

As shown in Power Supply Requirements of the BTS3812E, the power supply requirements of the BTS3812E are met. Hardware of the BTS3812E is installed. All the power switches on the BTS3812E busbar are set to OFF.

Step 3 Set the power switch of the fan subrack to OFF. Ensure that connections of power cables to the boards and the subracks are correct, and then go to Step 1. Step 4 Set the power switch of the baseband subrack to ON. Step 5 Check whether all the LEDs on a baseband board are ON and then OFF. If... All the LEDs on a baseband board are ON and then OFF, All the LEDs on a baseband board are ON,

Then... The board is not securely inserted. Go to Step 6. The board is securely inserted. Go to Step 7.

Step 6 Fasten the captive screws on the filler panel or reinstall the board. After you install the board tightly, all the LEDs will be ON within three seconds and will not be OFF. Step 7 Set power switches for the MTRUs to ON, and check whether the three LEDs on each MTRU are all ON. If... The three LEDs on each MTRU are all ON, The three LEDs on each MTRU are in other states, Then... The MTRU is properly powered on. Go to Step 8. The power cable is not properly connected or other faults occur. Clear the faults and repeat Step 7.

Step 8 Set the power switch for the MAFU subrack to ON. Check whether the three LEDs on each MAFU are all ON at the beginning and then the PWR LEDs are ON while the ALM LED and the VSWR LED are OFF. If... The three LEDs on each MAFU are ON at the beginning and then the PWR LED is ON while the ALM LED and the VSWR LED are OFF, The three LEDs are all ON steady, The three LEDs are all OFF steady, The three LEDs on the MAFU are in other states, Then... Power and communication cables are operational. The power-on check ends.

The communication between the MTRU and the MAFU is faulty. Go to Step 9. Power failure occurs to the MAFU. Go to Step 10. Go to Step 11.

Step 9 Reinstall the cable between the MAFU and the serial port on the MTRU. Check whether the ALM LED and the VSWR LED are OFF. If... The ALM LED and the VSWR LED are OFF, The ALM LED and the VSWR LED are ON steady, Then... The MAFU is properly powered on. The poweron check ends. Go to Step 11.

Step 10 Reinstall the power cable from busbar to MAFU. Check whether the LEDs on the MAFU are ON at the beginning and then the PWR LED is ON steady while the ALM LED and the VSWR LED are OFF.

10.3 Checklist for BTS3812E Cabinet Installation


This topic describes the checklist for installation of the BTS3812E cabinet. Check the BTS3812E cabinet according to the checklist. Table 10-2 lists the check items. Table 10-2 Checklist for installation of the BTS3812E cabinet SN 1 2 Item The cabinet layout complies with the engineering design. If the equipment room is not equipped with ESD floor, you need to install only the base before installing the cabinet. If the equipment room is equipped with ESD floor, you need to install both the support and the base before installing the cabinet. In addition, you also need to install supporting steels in the case of insufficient load capacity of the ground. 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 There are insulating pads on the four fixing holes of each base. The base (anchor) fits properly to the expansion bolt holes. The cabinet is securely connected to the base. The cabinet should stand steadily after it is installed. Both the horizontal error and the vertical error should be smaller than 3 mm. Space between the upper frame and the lower one of the base should not be more than 3 mm. The upper surface of the ESD floor should not be higher than the lower surface of the base lest that the ESD floor affect heat dissipation around the base. All screws are fastened. Check that flat washers and spring washers are mounted and the spring washer is installed on the flat washer. No parts on the cabinets are damaged or detached. No cables are scratched or broken. Dust should be cleaned from the cabinet and subracks.

Item The cabinet should be in clean and neat appearance. External paint should be intact and satisfactory. All labels, tags, and nameplates are correct, legible, and complete. The front door of the cabinet can be easily opened or closed. The DC surge protector for each cabinet should be correctly installed. When you adjust bolts to level the base, add spacers to the base to avoid deformation. The cover plate should be installed on the holes in the cabinet.

Item Connectors on the trunk cables are securely fixed. Connectors on the trunk cables are intact. No trunk cables or RF cables are scratched or broken. Connectors on RF cables are fixed in position lest that possible false connection should cause abnormal voltage standing wave ratio. RF cables routed in the horizontal plane are clamped into cable troughs. Cables of extra length are reserved at the connectors. The cables are neatly bound. The cable ties are installed at even intervals, to a proper tightness, and in one direction. Extra cable ties are truncated. All cuts are smooth without sharp thrum. The cable layout allows easy maintenance and future expansion. All labels and tags at both ends of the cables are legible. The ports not in use on the top of the cabinet are installed with dust-proof covers. RF jumpers are distributed by layer and by sector.

Checklist for Installation of Power Cables and PGND Cables


Table 10-4 lists the check items for installation of the BTS3812E power cables and PGND cables. All the power cables and PGND cables should be copper-based. The cable diameter should meet the requirements. No power cables or PGND cables are short-circuited or reversely connected. Power cables and PGND cables are bound separately from other cables. Labels are attached to both ends of each power cable and PGND cable. No power cables or PGND cables are scratched or broken. No connectors are used to join power cables or PGND cables. No devices such as switches and fuses are applied to electric connection of the grounding system. Power cables and PGND cables of extra length are truncated. These cables cannot be coiled. Lugs at both ends of power cables or PGND cables are securely soldered or crimped. Bare wires and lug handles at the wiring terminals are tightly wrapped by insulating tapes or heat-shrinkable tubes. Flat washers and spring washers are securely and closely mounted on wiring terminals. The positive pole of the primary power cable should be properly grounded. Working ground and protection ground of the NodeB and lightning protection ground of the building share one group of grounding conductors. Grounding grids of the tower, equipment room, and transformer (if the distance between the transformer and the equipment room is shorter than 30 m) should be inter-connected.

10.5 Checklist for Field Cleanliness of BTS3812E Installation


You need to clean the site after the installation and check the field cleanliness. Table 10-5 lists the items to be checked for field cleanliness of BTS3812E installation.
