INTERMEDIATE ENGLISH I COURSE

A. GENERAL INFORMATION
Students are going to receive classes in the following schedule:
Monday 8:30PM- 9:15 PM LAB
9:30PM-10:30 PM 2215
Tuesday 6:30PM -8:00 PM 2214
Friday 8:30PM-10:30 PM 2214



B. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE
This course is planned to develop students' communicative abilities in the foreign
language, emphasizing on grammar, vocabulary, discussion and argumentation, in order
to teach these main objectives, it is necessary that students use English in a clear and
coherent way since the beginning of the course and have improved their English level and
the end of it.
C.AIMS
At the end of this course students will be able to:
LISTENING:
O To understand information about daily topics and extract general ideas and specific
details.
O To understand main ideas of propositional and more linguistic complex and more
complex discourses about specific and abstract topics produced in a standard
language.
O To comprehend movies with subtitles in English and recognize new vocabulary,
grammatical rules and idiomatic expressions and their appropriate use.

SPEAKING:
O nterchange, prove and confirm information about known topics that they like using
an organized and clear language.
O Participate in conversations, dialogue and discussions with a coherent language,
by giving opinions.
O To express their ideas reflecting emotions about events and experiences and
expectations.


READING:
O To read real and objective texts about topics related to their interests and
demonstrate a satisfactory reading.
O To acquire a wide lexicon based on reading.


RITING:
O To produce written text, using new vocabulary and connected in a coherent form.
O Write the summary and comment about film, book or other written and oral texts.

GRAMMAR:
O To make appropriate use of tenses and verbs learned during the process.

D. METHODOLOGY
n this course, Teacher is going to introduce new topics through meaningful activities and
students are going to have the opportunity to learn and practice the basic abilities through
different activities for example:
Speaking: oral activities
O Students are going to select a free topic in order to prepare oral presentations
which they will use slides.in this presentation, they are going to practice about
topics taught by teacher, This is individually ( Minimum 10 minutes,maximun15
minutes) (every Monday)
Writing: creation of compositions, long and short stories.
O Students are going to create a long story (May 4
th
-2012)
They are going to practice about topics learned.
Listening: listen to song, stories, videos, movies.
O Listening activities are going to be develop in the lab.(Every Monday after the oral
presentations)

Reading: they are going to read the following books:
O Robinson Crusoe.aniel efoe (every Friday, each chapter will be socialized
whole group just 20 minutes)
O !rincess on the run. Paul avenport (this will be read and developed at home and
socialized on Tuesdays starting the lesson)( 15 minutes)
ACCESSORIES:
O On Mondays (4:00-6:00PM)
O On Fridays (4:00-6:00PM)

O All previous assessments are going be evaluated.
