ITS OFFICIAL END OF 2011

It was only a few weeks ago when I mentioned to some friends that we were 6 weeks away till the end of December 2011. We now have just over 2 weeks left and thats it. No more 2011 and no more shenanigans from the past year. In fact, we can only hope that 2012 turns out to be exciting and adventurous.

I feel somewhat relieved that we are bordering the end of this year to be honest. It has been a long, long year so to speak. If I recap on everything from 2010, then my biggest highlight for the year would have to be June/July when were filming the first part of World According To reality TV show. Still work in progress, but will keep you up to date with regards to all. There were some funny moments in filming in fact; there is a bar stint where I pretended to be a CAT well the party was themed Black cat with a twist...so I think I kind of took on the role- of becoming a cat that is. Smiles.

Then we had ITK Radio Morning for 3 months which we finished in September. That was a lot of fun. Ninjalyn did her Tuesdays and Thursdays slots which was entertaining. My fantasy Thursdays were very funny I think my Playboy Bunny topped the lot I couldnt move or sit in the costume. However, there is one thing that I have to say, you cannot simply do it all.

Im sure that you have noticed not much has been said about beginning of the year, well to be honest; there werent many exciting things that took place. I dare not get into politics or news of today, a bit boring and to be honest, who wants to be reminded of the not so nice things happening around the globe. Not news you want to hear at the end the year anyway.
So, ITK finally reached 12th issue Volume 1 done and dusted and will be back next year. It has been a lot of fun working on all the various publications and I look forward to another 12 to come. Well my dearest darlings, from my end . ..Happy Christmas and have a fantastic New Year. Be Safe and remember do not drink and drive. Take a RIKKIS, walk, cycle and if you must just sleep in the bar or club or not! Nina Zani

12 QUESTIONS

CHATTING TO LOCAL WELL KNOWN PERSONALITIES

Its the end of the year. What have all our local well known darlings been doing? We manage to speak to singer, songwriter and actress Lu Chase as well as Janie Bay who is slowly making headlines in the music industry across South Africa.

Interviews by Nina Zani

LU CHASE
1. Tell us about your year so far....... What a traumatic, awe inspiring year. Money was small but love was BIG. And I know I've grown immensely 2. What are your favourite moments for 2011? Definitely when I started feeling Winter easing its way into Spring. And my birthday, being surrounded by friends and loved ones. There's nothing better. Oh and of course when i saw that fashion trends have caught up with my wardrobe and now like me, everyone is wearing wedges )))))

3. Are you going to be having a busy summer? Absolutely! you can catch me performing with my new Electro Swing pop outfit all over the city this year. We call ourselves The Swing Tings. It consists of a French DJ/Producer/Live muso playing guitar/bass/vox/kazou simply called Mr X and me on vocals/lyrics/burlesque and fire dancing. We bring beauty, drama and theatre to a stage near you this summer. Also join our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-SwingTings/170537016339622 and follow us on Twiiter @TheSwingTings

4. What will you be doing for New Years Eve? I'll be rocking out at Trinity with The Swing Tings. We're preparing an awesome set 5. If you are performing, are we able to book tickets? If not, where will your no 1 spot be? Yes go to wwww.trinitycapetown.co.za 6. What are your party tips for summer? Be precautious, but still have fun. Life is an idea and ideas change so just go with it.

7. Have you got a favourite cocktail to recommend?

a Mojito is always welcome if made nicely. And passion fruit daiquiris and of course Pina coladas. But the Ultimate Summer drink is Water. Replenish, Rehydrate, Restore. 8. What should the girly darlings not be seen without this December? High wasted skirts and shorts, polka dots, colourful blocking, feminine dresses long or short and your gorgeous smile 9. Best tips for getting over a hangover? 2 Disprins before you go sleep and a green juice when you wake up consisting of celery, cucumber ,green apple, ginger , sleep and LOTS of water

10. Have you thought about your New Year resolutions and if so, what are your top 2? To be more present in the "now" instead of projecting into the future or staying stuck in the past. Drinking lots more raw vegetable juices and substituting dairy, wheat and sugar as often as possible with more healthier alternatives 11. What is your ultimate summer song? For the longest time it's been "Summerbreeze" by the O'Jays. But this summer there's this R.O.C.K.I.N.G tune by The Swing Tings called "Feel that just grabs me.

12. Words of wisdom to end 2011........ Look forward not back, 2011 may have been traumatic, stressful and a general pain in the arse but it was necessary to teach us what we want. The world is radically shifting right now and time has sped up. We're in a wonderful time of manifestation and while right now we're still adjusting to the changes of the world as we're moving from a patriarchal energy into the matriarchal. We need to open our hearts and be more "African like" Be that Ubuntu spirit. In stead of the self obsessed previous state we were in. We're releasing all things negative and remembering who we are, Joyous, passion filled, kind, loving peeps. We're Africa, the world will be looking to us for direction. Open hearts and big smiles. We are ONE

| Wise Words....Shared........
Nature and wisdom never are at strife. Plutarch

It is easier to be wise for others than for ourselves. Francois De La Rochefoucauld

The art of being wise is knowing what to overlook. William James The first step in the acquisition of wisdom is silence, the second listening, the third memory, the fourth practice, the fifth teaching others. Solomon Ibn Gabriol Years teach us more than books. Berthold Auerbach The wisdom of nations lies in their proverbs, which are brief and pithy. William Penn The middle course is the best. Cleobulus The only medicine for suffering, crime, and all the other woes of mankind, is wisdom. Thomas Huxley A wise man learns by the mistakes of others, a fool by his own. Latin Proverb Silence does not always mark wisdom. Samuel Taylor Coleridge. No man was ever wise by chance. Seneca

Not to know at large of things remote From use, obscure and subtle, but to know That which before us lies in daily life, Is the prime wisdom. John Milton
By associating with wise people you will become wise yourself. Menander The seat of knowledge is in the head, of wisdom, in the heart. William Hazlitt Of all parts of wisdom the practice is the best. John Tillotson The more a man knows, the more he forgives. Catherine the Great A loving heart is the truest wisdom. Charles Dickens One who understands much displays a greater simplicity of character than one who understands little. Alexander Chase How prone to doubt, how cautious are the wise! Homer On every thorn, delightful wisdom grows, In every rill a sweet instruction flows. Edward Young The man of wisdom is never of two minds; the man of benevolence never worries; the man of courage is never afraid. Confucius

World According To Nina.....

Risk Factor Do we dare all? Or do we stay content in our own little world?
Meaning of Risk: (n.) To expose to risk, hazard, or peril; to venture; as, to risk goods on board of a ship; to risk one's person in battle; to risk one's fame by a publication. (n.) Hazard of loss; liabillity to loss in property. (n.) Hazard; danger; peril; exposure to loss, injury, or destruction. (n.) To incur the risk or danger of; as, to risk a battle.

There you have it the meaning of the word risk. I my case I would have to think that the one definition you could closely associate to me -in my current state of being -would have to be to expose to risk. I know it is kind of funny. It is nothing too dangerous. Just in case you are wondering. Well, it depends how you look at really. I wish I could just pour my thoughts to you all, but sadly this will not happen. My World According To piece is merely touching on taking risks in life and the sound state of it, or not. Is there such a thing as a sound risk? People invest in the markets thinking it is sound but it is not - we invest our time in people thinking it is sound people change all the time - we invest in our visions-thinking it is sound....So you just have to smile and think good god....what am I actually doing? It is funny is it not? I have to laugh. It makes me smile. In fact; it makes me feel good. Living life on the edge and not knowing what to expect on the other end. That clearly does not make for a sane vision now does it? Think about the following: Do you want to grow old and wonder about the world and the things YOU couldve, wouldve and shouldve done? Or Do YOU grow old and look back at the adventures and experiences that have made YOU the person YOU are?

Remember as a child our mothers would always warn us and worry if we ran to fast and fell scraped our knees and possibly have a bleeding knee....They were so worried that you could hurt yourself... in actual fact if you were a clever child you would know in the future not to run as you wouldnt want to hurt yourself. Regardless of the warnings though we would still continue to run and fall...Hoping that one day we will run as fast as possible and never fall...
My point to the story is that its like that in life...We can either go the safe route and stick to basics Ok mummy, I shall walk from now on or Damn you woman I will run and I will show you that I will not fall...... Simple really If you dont take risks, you will never know....so what will it be? Happy Holidays, Happy New Year, Happy Taking Risks this summer, whether it is love, wealth, new adventures, new anything......Give it a go You can always look back and take the lesson learnt from it.....life is too short. Live it! xxx

Maremoto Restaurant

I love food. I love good restaurants that caters it all. Fine dining, hearty home cooked meals and the healthier options of course. Cape Town has many restaurants with some of the best chefs to go with it. Anyway, so a few weeks ago I did my mini Cape Town explore and stumbled across Maremoto. Situated in Long Street,. Walking through the doors already gave me a sense of home. The venue was recently refurbished and the interior completely made over. In fact; I love it. It has that old school look and feel with modern eclectic chic in the mix. A large piano in the corner. It kind of reminded me of having lazy winter nights, listening to a Jazz singer, pianist, eating great food, drinking good wine and having good laugh. They have an open plan kitchen (I think this is a big must) plus it gives you that confident feel of knowing what is happening when the meals are prepared. You know, good and clean and fresh, tralalala....I just had to put that in (South African humour). A few Saturdays ago we visited their establishment (close friends and I) and we had a marvellous old time. Having spent the whole day on the beach and saving ourselves for a gorgeous meal it was definitely worth the wait. We clearly did not settle for salads and beans to fill our needs but chose some hearty dishes of their menu. Bianca ended up choosing pork belly with baked guavas served with mash potato and I ordered the chicken breast stuffed with baby spinach served with pan-fried bacon and baby potatoes. Let me just say this; we did not care for the calorie count. It was delicious and something worth having off the menu. The wine selections was very good too and they even had my favourite on the list Haute Cabrierre. We did not have a very late night at Maremoto as we had other engagements that evening. So we finished up with a couple of espressos in the outside Garden. It was perfect. All in all, it was a great experience and I definitely look forward to spending some more time there in the near future. Oh and by the way they have a boutique hotel and a venue they hire out for parties on the other 2 floors, but that is another story to tell in time to come. www.maremoto.co.za
