About this tool Field descriptions
This tool is intended to be used to assist in sizing SnapVault and/or OSSV. It should be understood tha with estimating storage requirements. Several assumptions are built in and need to be considered whe
Set Name use this as a custom identifyer for the summary tab. SnapVault or OSSV are you calculating a SnapVault or OSSV relationship? MB or % data change can be given as a fixed amount or as a %. The snappase script reports data as Hourly backups, daily or both will you be doing backups on an hourly basis, daily basis, or both hour Frequency of hourly backups how often the hourly backups will run (every X hours). Assumptions
Calculations are on a per volume basis. If you do multiple calculations for different relationships (going volume) make sure you keep the snapshot model the same across those calculations since snapshots and not per relationship.
Calculations when using % mode are based on linear change rates and do not assume compound grow If you provide the file change rate, 20% of that will be used as an estimate for block change rate.
For both SnapVault and OSSV, 3% of the initial data size is added to the bottom line for overhead. This estimate and may be more or less depending on the characteristics of the data set.

Deduplication... the field for expected deduplication allows you to provide a deduplication % if you will deduplication on the secondary volume. This tool can not make guarantees on the level of deduplicatio only calculates for deduplication of the baseline amount. One thing to keep in mind is that this tool is us not for space savings. Therefore, the required amount will never go below the baseline plus overhead.

Take the following simple example. If you have 500GB to protect, and you expect 50% deduplication... size for 500GB because deduplication is a post-backup operation. If, after deduplication, your retention you beyond 500GB your sizing requirements due to deduplication will decrease.
In addition, you need to be aware of the max volume size limitations for deduplication for the particular p as the secondary.
Tape... the calcuations for tape requirements assume full backups for weekly and monthly requirements "amount of data to protect" value for these full backup calculations. Hourly backups are not considered calculated based on file change rate. If block change rate is provided then this is converted to a file cha dividing the block change rate by 20%.
Summary Sheets... there are two summary sheets. The advanced summary allows for some growth p projections. This is especially useful when using % mode in the worksheets since this calculations are d growth as opposed to compound growth.
