Project Initiation Document


1. Outline of the project environment and problem to be solved:
The Movie Management System enables the users to purchase movie tickets online ,view movie trailers and songs, conduct and participate in film festivals online.

2. Project aim and objectives:


This project envisages bridging the gap between the directors, the users and the customer. A very high flexibility is being maintained in the design process so that this project can take either of the two paths : Customer can view songs and trailers,purchase tickets,look for employment opportunities in film industry A director can create a profile for him and his films and conduct film festivals/add his own film to his film festival Maintaining services through single or multiple windows is also on the agenda.

3. Project deliverables:
A. Online or offline help to above said users, Application deployment executive and developer B. Application archive (.war/.ear) with source code C. Database backup and DDL Script The project deliverables will also include final versions of the following documents: Project Initiation Document Software Requirements Specification Document Project Reports Progress and Status Reports as and when required. User manual, etc.

4. Project approach and Functional Requirements:

Secure registration and profile management facilities for users Purchasing tickets of movies at desired theatres,print an online ticket Adding films by directors and users as well as their trailers Posting ,viewing and applying of job opportunities Give special discounts to Premier customers Conducting online film festivals based on user voting . Initial non functional requirements will be: 24 X 7 availability Better component design to get better performance at peak time Flexible service based architecture will be highly desirable for future extension Advertisement space where it will effectively catch the customers attention and as a source of revenue. The following user interface priorities will be considered since for this type of application the user and web interface will serve as one the major turning points: Professional look and feel Use of AJAX at least with all registration forms

5. Facilities and resources:


In addition to the normal computational and networking requirements needed to set up the project as a viable business option we will be using the following tools: J2EE, UML, XML, AJAX, Web 2.0, Web-services, SOA etc. Database systems like Microsoft Access or Oracle. New techniques and tools as deemed necessary or that will vastly revolutionise the project or the process.

1. About Online Shopping Mall( OSM) Users: The application identifies three types of usersAdministrator, Director and Customereach with different privileges. (This is only an initial tentative list) Administrato r

The Mall Administrator is the super user and has complete control over activities that can be performed. The application notifies the administr profile creation requests, postings and the administrator can then appr reject them. The administrator also manages the list of active users.

Directors Customer

Directors are customers who have added atleast one film of their own. adding and getting approved he will be added to a directors circle.

A Customer can browse through films and view trailer. He can purchas as well as take part in voting for film festivals. The basic use case diagram will be: -
