RAFFLESIA ARNOLDY

Rafflesia Arnoldy from Sumatra is the largest flower in the world. It is a very rare flower. Rafflesia is found mainly in the Southeast Asia. The flower can reach eight kilograms in weight. Its diameter can reach 90 centimeters or more. This plant does not have any leaves or stem. It is a parasitic plant. The plant is buried within of the host plant. It consists of fine, fungus like filament. When the plant is blooming we can see it with our naked eyes. Before that we cannot see it. The flower is pollinated by flies. The rooting-meat smell attracts flies. Do you like to see the flowers? You can go to the botanical garden in Bogor. Rafflesia Arnoldy does not bloom every day like other flowers.
