As a leading coachbuilder, the Mercedes-Benz Bus and Coach unit bears particular responsibility for the safety of passengers and drivers as well as for other road users. Since the invention of the motorised bus by Carl Benz, MercedesBenz has been pioneering the further development of bus and coach safety. Many of the innovations that are standard today made their debut in a vehicle bearing the Mercedes star. Mercedes-Benz pursues the vision of accident-free driving, with the Mercedes-Benz integral safety concept contributing substantially to realising this aim. The benchmark for all-round safety. By consistently implementing this safety philosophy, the Mercedes-Benz integral safety concept covers all phases of vehicle safety: from handling safety through safety in hazardous situations, protection in the event of an accident, to minimising the consequences of an accident. The innovative safety systems on the Tourino provide optimum protection. Everything under control. The driver workplace is a highly important safety factor. Its perfected ergonomics and a generous amount of space, such as is only found in full-size coaches, support the driver in their highly responsible job. All the controls and switches are arranged in a manner that makes them easier to reach, while the instruments and displays are located so that they are perfectly in view. There are large stowage facilities where the drivers personal items can be conveniently placed. It is even possible to control the climate of the cockpit individually, to add to the sense of well-being that helps the driver stay alert, relaxed and safe throughout a long working day: full concentration for the highest level of safety.

Built-in guardian angel

Danger of an accident? Relax. Thanks to the special construction of the Tourino the result of decades of research and development this coach helps your driver to get your passengers to their destination safe and sound.
Braking with a system. When it comes to safety, you cannot raise the bar too high. Thats why the Tourino has safety characteristics which are normally only featured by large touring coaches. For example, it is equipped with an electronic/pneumatic braking system (EBS) as standard. Not only does this system respond more swiftly than conventional braking systems, its electronics also optimise brake wear, so that the brake pads last longer allowing you to save on maintenance costs. In addition, the coach is equipped with a retarder as standard. With its help, your driver can brake without the Tourinos EBS having to intervene. That takes the strain off the braking system, and off your budget too. Automatically more reserves. Can a midicoach be just as safe as a full-size coach? If it is a Tourino, it can. For instance, because the Tourino is equipped as standard with ESP. No other coach in its class can boast of this electronic guardian angel at present. Even though ESP has long since demonstrated its usefulness at defusing critical handling situations both in the passenger car, and in the large touring coach sector. Apart from ABS and ASR, Brake Assist (BA) also travels on board. It helps shorten stopping distance in the event of an emergency braking manoeuvre, so that the vehicle can come to a standstill sooner. Travel safely, travel with the Tourino.

Thanks to a broad scope of optional extras and a large choice of colours, patterns and materials, you can easily equip the vehicle interior in accordance with your individual requirements. For instance, at the rear of the vehicle you can install a galley or a toilet, without compromising in the least the generous spaciousness of the 4.4 m3 luggage storage area, which spans the width of the coach and can be accessed from both sides. Travelwise. It goes without saying that the atmosphere on board the Tourino is excellent. The powerful air conditioning system creates a pleasant temperature. In addition to this, the high-quality convector heater provides cosy warmth for your passengers on particularly cold days.
