2.1.1. Whatisit
StargateInternationalisthenamewehavegivenourliveroleplayinggameworld.Basedontheverypopular StargateTVserieswehavecreatedarulesetandadaptedourlasertagroleplayingequipmentsothatyoucan takepartinalltheexcitement.Takingknowledgefromall3TVshows(SG1,Atlantis,andUniverse)wehave thenadaptedittoourownstorylinesothatwecancreatenewandinterestingstoriesforplayersto experienceandenjoy.

2.1.2. HowdoesitfitinwiththeTVshow?
Duringseason10ofStargate,itcanbeseenthattheUSgovernmentisinvestingmoretimeandresourcesinto Atlantisbecauseitwasaninternationalproject,whereasStargatecommandwasalmostexclusivelyAmerican controlled.AsaresultthebudgetforStargatecommandwasgettingsmallerandstartingtostretchthin.While itwouldneverbeactuallycloseddown,theAtlantisprojectwasbeingfundednotonlyfromtheAmerican governmentbutfromallthegovernmentsinvolved,thusmakingitmorefinanciallyviable. Withrisingcostsandlittletoshowforit,itwasdecidedtosharecontroloftheStargateProgramwiththe othermajornationswhosignedthenondisclosuretreaty.ThesecountrieswereChina,England,France,and Russia.AninternationalOversightCommitteewasestablishedtokeepeveryonesinterestsatheart.Thisis wherewebeginforStargateInternational.

2.2.1. Whatdifferencedoesitmaketocomefromaparticularcountry?
Generallyspeaking,absolutelynothing.Intermsofwhatpoliticaltugofropewillentwineitselfaroundyouand eitherseduceyouorforceyouractions?Everything!TheStargateInternationalsituationisyoungandevery countryandfactionisjostlingforpower.Therearealwaysthosewhoarenefariousandshady,wantingwhatis bestforthemandtheircountry,orevenjustthemselves!Ontheotherhandtherearethosewhowantonly whatisbestfortheplanetbutwillgotoanylengthstoachieveit.Nomatterwhatcountryyouchooseyouwill eventuallybeembroiledinthepoliticsofthesituation,choosingacountrywilljustdetermineyouroriginal allegiance........ordoesit?Equipmentandmissionsarestandardbutoccasionallycharactersmaybeaskedto testoutnewgearorweaponrybeingdevelopedbyvariousfactions.Sowhereyoustartisreallyuptoyou!

ThemaincountriesthathavesignedontotheStargateInternationalprogramareAmerica,China,Britain, FranceandRussia.Youcancomefromacountrythatisnotmentionedbutyouneedtohaveadecent backgroundstorytojustifyyourcomingintotheprogram.Alsoifyoudonotcomefromoneoftheabove mentionedcountriesyouwillstillneedtobeonattachmenttoone.Forexampleifyouwantedtoplaya Irishman(orwoman)youwouldmostlikelybeattachedtotheBritisharmoftheStargateInternational program.ThatmeansthatyoutakeyourordersfromStargateInternationalCommandandanyordersthat comethroughfromMotherEngland.Ifyouhaveaninterestingideathatyouwanttotryoutthenfeelfreeto contactustodiscussthepossibilities.

3. INGAMESAFETYPOINTS,GAMEPLAYANDSAFETYCALLS 3.1. PERSONALSAFETY


AllparticipantsofStargateInternational,includingplayers,NPCsorsupportstaffareresponsiblefortheirown personalsafetyatalltimes.Anyriskyorfoolishbehaviourwillnotbecondonedandanyinjurycausedbysaid suchactionsarenottheliabilityorresponsibilityofLasertagRoleplaying. SafetyisparamountintheLasertagLRPgroup.DuetothenatureoflasertagandlivinginAustraliathereare ruleswemustabidebyLawaswellasextrasafetyruleswewillimposeontheplayers.Wehaveinstitutedour ownsetofrulestoensuresafetyandtomakesurewecancontinuetheclubinthefuture. NoLaserPointers:Laserpointerscomeindifferentvarietiesandsomecanphysicallyinjurepeopleseyes.As thesensorsofthegunpacksaresituatedontheheadandbodythelaserpointers,ifused,wouldalmost alwayspointtowardssomeoneshead.Wedonotwanttospendourtimecheckingallthelaserpointersand eventhennotbetotallysureoniftheyhurtpeopleseyes. NoRealWeapons:Noknives,Swords,axes,pocketknivesetc.Thereisonlyoneexceptionandthatisaknife foundonasetofmultitoolsandeventhentheknifeisnotbeusedasaweaponinanysituation.Noreal Pistols,Riflesorgunsofanytypesatall. NoPhysicalHandtoHandCombat:Wewillnotbeallowingpeopletoclubpeoplewithweapons,shovepeople asidewhenrunning,hittingsomeoneinanyform,tripping,orwrestling.Nophysicalcontactistobemadewith anyotherparticipantwithouttheexpressconsentoftheindividualsinvolved. Theaboverulemayhaveanexceptioninacontrolledenvironment.Withthecorrectsafetymeasuresinplace andplayerswhoagreetothecombatthenitispossiblewewillhavephysicalcombatwithLRPstyleweapons. ItisentirelypossiblewemayevenallowphysicalcombatsthatinvolvenonLRPweaponsbutitissubjecttoa controlledenvironment,withsafetymeasures,andwithagreeingpartiesonly. Weunderstandthataccidentsdohappeninsomesituations.Whenwetrytocreatearealisticimmersive environmentwehavetotryandremovethevisiblesafetyprecautionsputinplace.Themoresafetyinvolved thelessrealistictheenvironmentbecomes.Becauseofsuchsituationsitsimportanttounderstandthe followingsituationsandagreetothetermsofthegamewiththeminvolved. NoBlindFiring:Thismeansessentiallythatatnopointshouldanypersonsticktheirgunaroundthecorner blindandshoot,i.e.shootingblind.Thisruleisineffectforonemainbutveryimportantreason.Bysticking yourgunaroundcornerswithoutlookingyouhavenoideaifyouarejustabouttopokesomeoneinthefaceor eyeswithyourgun.Thelastthinganybodywantsisabrightfluoroorangeplastictubeshovedintotheirface oreyeswithanysortofforcebehindit.Thisparticularactionisnotonlyheavilyfrowneduponitwillneverbe toleratedbyanyoftheorganisers.Anybodyseendoingthiswillbewarnedbutonlyonce.Ifyoucannot demonstratethatyouhavethematuritytoplaysafelythenyouwillnotbeplayingatall. NightCombat:Militarystylenightcombatwillbeilluminatedquiteminimallyinsomeareas.Someplayerswill enjoynightgamesintotaldarknessandwecanprovidesuchexperiences.Inthedarktheenvironment becomesmuchmoredangerousaspeoplecantwisttheirfeetonrocksandpotholesorrunintoobstaclesin theenvironment.AnyoneuncomfortablewithnightcombatshouldmaketheirconcernsknowntoaGame MasterorReferee. FastPacedCombat:LaserTagcombatisamassiveadrenalinrushwithpacksthatcankeepscoreofthe combatsoitrunswithoutinterruptions.Playerswillrunfromcovertocoveroftenonunevenorunsecure groundorthroughthickbush.Scratcheswillbethemostcommoninjurybutplayerscansufferevengreater injuriesiftheyarenotcareful.Againwedonotwanttocontrolthesituationandinterruptthegamesoitisan

importantissuetokeepaneyeonwhenrunningaroundinthebush.Eachpersonisultimatelyresponsiblefor theirownpersonalsafetyandparticipantsshouldfindtheirowncomfortablelimitsforthegame. Tohelpyouastheplayerwiththeabovesituationsweareenforcingminimalgearforcombatgames.These itemsareasfollowed. SecureFootwear:Laceupbootsthatcovertheanklesisamust.Theyhelpsupporttheankleandprotectthe feetratherwell.Steelcapswouldevenbethebetterchoice. KneePads/ElbowPads:Thoughnotanabsolutemustthesearehighlyrecommended.Ifyoutripoverwith kneepadsorelbowpadsyouhavetheabilitytolandonsomethingdesignedtocushionordeflecttheimpact beforetherestofthebodydoes.Alsowhenincombatyoucankneelwithoutworryingaboutkneelingon rocksorthelike.Cheapvarietiescanbegottenoftheseusedbyskateboarders. TheequipmentusedbyLasertagLiveRoleplayingisquitecostlyinbothequipmentandtimetoproducesowe expectthatallparticipantsofoursystemtakecareofanyequipmentallocatedtothem.Atnopointshouldany personusetheirgearinanyformofphysicalattack(Noriflebutting!)orbethrownaroundandabused.The packsthemselvesarealsofragileintheirownwaysonodivingontostomachsorbacksshouldoccurasthe likelyhoodofnotonlybreakingsomethingbutinjuringyourselfishighlyprobable.Weaskthatpeoplegently lowerthemselvestothegroundwhennecessary.Theequipmentisalsoelectronicsojumpingintobodiesof waterwillnotbelookedonwithanyparticularhumoureither.Nonavysealsactionpeople!

GAMEPLAYANDSAFETYCALLS

IngamecallsfollowwhathasnowbecomeaVictorianLRPstandard.Thereare4callsmadebyorganisersand carriedoutbytheplayers.Whenanyoneofthesecallsaremadebyapersonitisimportanttorepeatthecall toensureeveryonehearsthenfollowtherulesinvolved.

3.3.1. TimeOut
Thisgenericcallmadewhengameplayneedstobepausedtemporarily.Essentially,itisthepausebuttonin thegame.Mostoftenitiscalledbyorganiserstointroducesomethingordescribesomethingthattheplayers canseeortoclarifyasituation.Playersmayusetocalltopausegametimetogetsomeclarityfroman organiseraboutaparticularsituationorobject.Thiscallcanalsobeusedtopausegameplaytopreventsome outofgamedanger,i.e.someonerunningbackwardsisabouttotripoveralogetc.

3.3.2. TimeFreeze
Thiscallismadebyorganisersonlywhensomethingishappeninginthebackgroundthatplayersdonotknow about.Playersmustclosetheireyesandhumasongsotheycannotseeorhearwhatishappeningaround them.Thiscallalsopausestimeingame.

3.3.3. TimeIn
Thiscallisusedtoresumegameplayafteratimeoutortimefreezecall.Whatyouseewhenyouopenyour eyesiswhatyouget.

3.3.4. CodeRed
Thisisthemostimportantcallofthemall.Whensomeoneisactuallyinjuredbadlythenanyonecancalla CodeRed.Asitisaroleplayinggamecallingforhelpcanbemistakenasacharacterroleplayingaction.Code
