Abstract I. INTRODUCTION
Microstrip Antennas( MSA) have a lot of theoretical and experimental analysis due their many advantages and applications. In particular the circular patch antenna has been investigated rigorously[4,5]. Many attempts were made to enhance the gain and bandwidth of the circular patch antenna by increasing substrate thickness, stacked patches or using other structures like annular ring patch antnna and annular ring microstrip slot antenna(ARMSSA). A circular ring slot microstrip antenna is designed and analyzed for parameters like returnloss, input impedamce and bandwidth. Circular ring slot antenna size is small coplared to circular disc antenna. Many others analyzed about the circular ring slot antenna with parasitic patch around the slot. In this paper

II. Antenna Design and Analysis

A single layer with 8 shaped slot is taken out of infinite ground plane[1]. Fr4 substrate with height h =1.6, permittivity 4.4 is used. The 50 ohms feed line length[4] is fl, and width is fw, radius of the inner circle of the ring is Ri , radius of the outer circle of ring is Ro, separation distance between the centers of two slots is Rc and the the angle between the line joining the centers of the two rings of eight shaped slot and a vertical reference line is AG.

Using equation 8 width of the microstrip line width for 50 ohms is calculate. Design equations 1 to 7 are used to calculate dimensions of annular rings of eight shaped antenna. Dimensions of substrate and ground are l=35mm, w=65mm,Ri=6.5mm,Ro=9.5mm,fw=3mm,fl=19.5mm,AG = 15 to 90 degrees insteps of 15degrees, Rc = 7 to 9.5 mm insteps of 0.5mm. The dimensions of Ri, Ro are optimized to get wide bandwidth. The structure of the eight shaped antenna is shown in fig1.

III.RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

The dimensional parameters are investigated numerically using HFSS which is a FEM based simulator. Only one parameter is varied every time in the numerical simulation. The Return loss plots by adjusting the rotation angle AG and distance of separation between the centers of rings Rc are given in, Fig2a, Fig2b, Fig2c, Fig2d, Fig2e and in fig2f. XY Plot 1

Fig2f. Return loss plot for Angle AG = 900 for different values of Rc It is observed in fig 2a that impedance bandwidth for return loss below -10 dB is from 2.28 GHz to 3.64 GHz when angle of rotation AG = 15 degrees and Rc =9mm which is distance of separation between the rings of eight, which is more than 44 % centered at 2.3GHz. It is observed that the return loss at higher frequency is more sensitive to AG and Rc than that at low frequency band. Parametric analysis for widebandwidth for different geometry and structure are shown in fig3 and in table1. %bandwidths are calculated for different antennas from the return loss plots of fig2a to fig2f shown in table1. Flatten gain of 4dBi is observed over the optimized band, shown in fig4 .It is also observed that E plane and H plane Radiation patterns at different values of frequencies are relative omni directional shown in fig5.

Fig. 5 Radiation pattern of the antenna in figure 1( Eplane red, H plane blue) Fig. 3 Band width performance of the antenna in figure 1 IV.Conclusion An eight shaped slot is implemented to achieve broadband characteristics of the antenna. Parametric Design and Analysis to achieve wide bandwidth is investigated with permutations of the angle between the line joining the centers of the two rings of eight shaped slot and a vertical reference line, and the distance between the centers of the two rings of eight shaped slot. Optimal impedance band width for S11<-10dB is achieved for the band of 2.12 to 3.16 GHz, more than 1GHz, 44% centered at 2.3GHz. Simulated results of impedance matching and radiation patterns are discussed.
