Greetings,
As the rest of the country winds down for the festive season, and well deserved breaks, we here at Z are still working hard on some things that really matter. We have ramped up our re-branding programme and over 40 of our service stations have been re-branded to Z, as well as a number of our truckstops. What is disappointing to me, and the rest of the Z team, is that over the last few weeks the New Zealand fuel industry has once again found itself short of diesel stocks in the South Island. Once again there were several causes to this, including poor weather delaying shipments of fuel, and unexpected levels of sales in some locations. The underlying cause, however, is insufficient infrastructure. As an industry, weve underinvested in our infrastructure and, in short, we now dont have enough storage in the right locations. Reasons, excuses, call it what you will. Weve owned this business for 18 months now and being a new company no longer holds any water. The bottom line is we shouldnt be in the position of having to talk to our customers about things like this. Were totally committed to sorting it out, for the benefit of our customers, and the country. In October we opened 30 million litres of brand new bulk fuel storage at Lyttelton, and committed to another $50 million of investment in bulk fuel storage over the next three years. In the short term, we are holding much higher stock levels than we previously did and we have introduced more trucks to our distribution fleet. This improves our ability to move product between ports when supplies are restricted and as a result the recent shortage did not impact Z or its customers as it did some of our competitors. Regardless, I want to apologise to our customers that have been affected by this. Please be assured that our commitment is to provide security of supply to you. In the new year you will be hearing more from us as we firm up how and where we will undertake much needed investment in the New Zealand fuel supply chain. Until then, best wishes to you and your family for the Christmas season. Lindis

Introducing Z Card!
As you know we are Zing the nation, and now its time to Z our fuel card. Shell Card is now going to be Z Card with an all new design.
What is changing? We are changing the name of the card from Shell Card to Z Card. It will also get a face lift, with the colours and design changing completely. What is not changing is the functionality of the card. Your PIN, for example, will stay the same, as will the limits on the products you can use, and whether your card has compulsory odometer entry or not. Why is it changing? After listening to 17,000 customers we realised we couldnt be a Kiwi company and still carry the name of a foreign based multinational. So we have changed to Z to reflect our national identity and our commitment to New Zealand. The service stations and truckstops have already started to be rebranded and now its the turn of our fuel card. When will it be changing? We will start to issue new Z Cards from 1 February 2012. We are aiming to have all cards rebranded in three months. Your cards will be issued during this time. You will receive all new cards that will replace your current Shell Cards. We recommend that you sign the back of these straight away and destroy your Shell Cards. You will not be able to use both, and your Shell Cards will be cancelled at the end of the month following when you receive your Z Card. If you order a replacement card after 1 February, you will also receive a new Z Card. The rest of the cards on your account will be reissued as per the schedule after that. Will I have to pay replacement fees for the card reissue? No. No replacement fees will be charged at all, even if you currently pay a replacement card fee. What will the card look like? After all this talk about the new Z Card, I bet you cant wait to see it! Well here it is:
There are three card designs: car, truck and plane. The card that you receive will be based on where you mostly use your card. For example, if you mostly use your Shell Card at service stations you will receive a card with the car on it Why have a Z Card account? Of course you will be getting a brand new shiny card, but do you ever think about what the benefits of having a Z Card are? Z Card is designed as a fuel management tool. It should make your life easier through giving you instant access to reporting, card deck management, and alert reporting. You can access all of your account details on Shell Card Online (soon to be Z Card online) and you can also collect Fly Buys points. If you arent already collecting Fly Buys, and would like to collect them, give us a call and we can add them to your account. If you have any questions then please give us a call on 0800 474 355. Our Kiwi call centre are happy to talk you through how to access reports, set up smart alerts or to make sure you have all of your cards in order before we re-issue them.
We reckon its important to hear what our customers think. If you would like to contribute with a letter, then do so by emailing us at theenergydrop@z.co.nz

People profile
Z career
Kicked off in 2001 in the customer service centre. I then moved into the direct marketing team. We looked after smaller sized customers and did lots of cold calling campaigns. I then moved into my current role, which looks after medium sized commercial business for Z. This current role has changed quite a bit since I started in it, but now I look after shell Card customer plus a few bulk fuels customers as well.
