ADMISSIONS - B.E.

1) Eligibility Conditions
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS The candidates who want admission to B.E. courses offered by Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (earlier DIT) should have appeared in AIEEE. Candidate should have scored atleast 60% marks in aggregate in physics , chemistry and mathematics and passed in each subject in any of the following qualifying examination: (i) Senior School Certificate Examination (12-year course) of the Central Board of Secondary Education (C.B.S.E.), New Delhi. (ii) Indian School Certificate Examination (12-year course) of the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi. (iii) Any other examination recognized as equivalent to the Senior School Certificate Examination of the C.B.S.E. by the University of Delhi. But candidates belonging to SC/ST category are allowed 10% relaxation in qualifying examination for basic minimum eligibility requirements of marks in physics, chemistry and mathematics. Similarly candidates belonging to DC/PH category are allowed 5% relaxation in qualifying examination. Candidate should additionally pass English at 10th or 12th class. *Categories like Outside Delhi and Delhi depends upon from where candidate has passed his/her 12th class qualifying examination. Candidates should have passed qualifying Examination from a recognized School/College/Institute located within NCT of Delhi (for Delhi Region candidates) or located outside NCT of Delhi (for Outside Delhi Region candidates). AGE REQUIREMENT Candidate must be 17 years of age on or before 1st October of the year in which he seeks admission .Relaxation in minimum age requirement can be obtained by permission of Vice Chancellor of DU based on his/her merit.

2) ADMISSION PROCEDURE
NSIT from the session 2010-2011 has started admissions through AIEEE and not Delhi CEE as done till 2009-2010 session. 1) Registration-Candidate who want to attend counseling for admission in NSIT has to deposit non-refundable counseling fee through challan as prescribed by NSIT B.E. admission counseling committee .Then you have to register yourselves by filling in the registration form on www.nsit.nic.in .You will be given User-id and Password . 2) Filling of choices- After that candidate has to fill his choices correctly keeping the engineering branch in the order he wants to pursue most (as 1 st choice) to least

interested (as last choice) and submitting it & obtain the printed copy of locked choices .You may fill up any number of choices . Allotment of seats- After the choice filling period is over, all filled choices of all the registered candidates will be considered for allotment of seats as per their merit (AIEEE All India Rank) and their category. Result Declaration- On the date of result declaration, candidate can take printout of provisional allotment letter from the website, http://www.nsit.nic.in. The allotment of seats at this stage is purely provisional and is subject to verification of original certificates and payment of Institute fee etc. at the time of reporting to NSIT for admission .Results will be declared in various rounds according to the seats remaining vacant. Reporting-Candidates who are allotted seats have to take print out of provisional allotment letter and report with all the required documents and Institute fee as specified by NSIT counseling board according to counseling schedule. NOTE-Candidate will be offered seat once only .Candidate not reporting or refusing to take the seat will be out of the counseling and will be not considered for further rounds. Physical Reporting-Candidates who are not allotted any seats after few rounds of counseling as specified by NSIT counseling committee , candidates are required to report physically in NSIT according to counseling schedule to make yourself eligible for further rounds. Upgradation- A candidate, who has been admitted to a branch other than his first choice, will automatically be upgraded, as per his merit in AIEEE, to a Branch of his higher preference as indicated in his online application. The upgradation of branches shall be simultaneously available with the declaration of results of further rounds. Freezing- In case a candidate desires to continue in the branch allotted to him at the time of admission or during subsequent upgradation, then he can freeze his/her branch by giving a request letter. Manual Counseling-Candidates who are not allotted in any seat in any of the rounds are allowed to appear for last and manual round of counseling which is held in case any seat remains vacant .Manual counseling will also be done strictly based upon merit in AIEEE .Candidates who are allotted seats in manual round of counseling will have to submit the required documents and fees on spot on that day only.

3) SEAT DISTRIBUTION
Region-wise Allocation of Seats
The total seats earmarked for the B.E. Courses shall be allocated region-wise as follows: 1. DELHI REGION

For candidates passing the qualifying examinations from the recognized Schools/ Colleges/Institutions located within the National Capital Territory of Delhi, 85% seats are allocated. 2. OUTSIDE DELHI REGION For candidates passing the qualifying examinations from the recognized Schools/ Colleges/ Institutions located outside the National Capital Territory of Delhi ,15% are allotted. Note: 1. Except for the Nominees of Govt. of India, the admission is open to Indian nationals only.

4) RESERVATION OF SEATS
1) Schedule castes(SC) 15% seats are reserved for candidates falling under schedule castes category. 2) Schedule tribes(ST) 7.5% seats are reserved for candidates falling under schedule tribes category. 3) Other Backward Classes(OBC) 27% seats are reserved for candidates falling under other backward classes. 4) Physically Handicaped(PH) 3% seats are reserved for candidates falling under physically handicapped category . This reservation is applicable in each category(General,SC,ST,OBC) individually. 1% for candidates with hearing impairment 1% for candidates with loco-motor disabilities and/or cerebral palsy 1% for candidates with full or partial blindness 5) Kashmiri Migrant(KM) [supernumerary] One seat over and above normal intake is reserved for Kashmiri Migrant.

6) Defence Category
5% seats are reserved for children and widows of Armed /Paramilitary Forces personnel . PRIORITY 1-Widows/wards of Defence Personnel killed in action. PRIORITY2-Wards of serving personnel and ex-servicemen disabled in action. PRIORITY3-Widow/wards of Defence personnel who died in peace time death attributable to Military Service. PRIORITY4-Wards of Defence Personnel disabled in peace time with disability attributable to Military Service.

7) Nominees of Government of India One seat, over and above the normal total intake is reserved for Wards/Children of Indian posted at Indian Missions abroad provided they have passed their qualifying examination from outside India. Nomination against this seat will be made by the Ministry of External Affairs, G.O.I.,New Delhi.

6) HOSTEL
There are 4 boys hostel each for 4 B.E. year students and M.Tech students. Ramanujan Hostel is for B.Tech 1st year students .There is also 1 girls hostel .

Q:I am placed in compartment examination of qualifying exam , am I eligible for the admission counseling? A:No Q:I have got admission during the counseling but I dont want to accept that seat but want to wait for further rounds , is there any procedure to do so? A:No,once you have been offered seat you have to accept the seat if you want further upgradation .If you deny the seat you will not be eligible for further rounds of counseling. Q:I have appeared for improvement paper in qualifying examination to acquire eligibility for the admission process , am I eligible for counseling? A:No Q:Can I get admission in the institute directly in the 2ND semester? A:No Q:Is upgradation of branch possible in or after 2nd semester based on 1st semester marks or vacancy of seats? A:No Q:Is hostel facility available for every student enrolled in the institute? A:Hostel rooms are limited .It is allotted according to distance of your residence from college. Eligibility Conditions
1) For full-Time M.Tech.
1)A candidate must have passed B.E./B.Tech. Degree in Electronics and Communication/Computer/Electronics/Electrical Engg. / Instrumentation & Control Engineering from the University of Delhi or equivalent qualifications from recognized Universities/Institutions. or A candidate must have passed in the A.M.I.E (India) Exam. with appropriate Specializations/Grad I.E.T.E. (India), A.M.I.E. (London), or any other examination in the relevant/appropriate branch recognized as equivalent to B.E. by the University of Delhi.

2) A candidate for admission must have valid GATE score card. (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering).

2) For full-time Sponsored M.Tech./Part-Time


1)A candidate must have passed B.E./B.Tech. degree in Electronics & Communication/ Computer/ Electronics/ Electrical / Instrumentation & Control Engineering from the University of Delhi or equivalent qualifications from recognized Universities/ Institutions. or A candidate must have passed in the A.M.I.E. (India) Exam. with appropriate specializations/ Grad I.E.T.E. (India), A.M.I.E. (London), or any other examination in the concerned branch recognized as equivalent to B.E. by the University of Delhi. 3) Preference shall be given to those candidates who are GATE qualified.

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS
Masters degree in Engineering/Technology/Science or equivalent in relevant area with a consistently good academic record (securing 70% or more marks in aggregate).

Candidates selected for admission to the Ph.D. programmes will have to subsequently apply to the University of Delhi for Ph.D. registration as per Delhi University Rules.
