MATERIALS REQUIRED 450 g. Nature yarn in cord no. 13. Knitting needles no. 41/2. Bronze and golden beads, jet and decorations. Tapestry needle. Size: 40 (42-44) PATTERN STOTCHES Knitted stitch Purled stitch GAUGE 10x10 cm. work with knitting needles no. 41/2 in purled stitch = 19 sts. and 23 rows. WORKING INSTRUCTIONS Back: cast on 80 (84-88) sts. and work in purled stitch. At ends decr. 1 st. every 12 rows 3 times; when work measures 23 (24-25) cm. from beg. of work incr. at ends 1 st. every 10 rows 3 times. When work measures 40 (42-44) cm. from beg. of work, to shape the armholes decr. at ends, inside 2 sts., 2 sts. every 4 rows 4 times. When work measures 20 cm. from beg. of armholes bind off rem. stitches. Right front: cast on 50 (52-54) sts. and work in purled stitch shaping the side and working the armhole, on the left of work in same way as back. When work measures 54 (56-58) cm. from beg. of work, to shape the neckline bind off on right of work 18 (19-20) sts., then decr., inside 2 sts., 2 sts. every 4 rows 3 times. When work measures 6 cm. from beg. of neckline bind off the 18 (19-20) rem. stitches for the shoulder. Left front: work to match right front. Sleeves: cast on 48 (50-52) sts. and work in purled stitch; at ends incr. 1 st. every 20 rows 3 times (1 st. every 18 rows. 4 times - 1 st. every 16 rows 5 times). When work measures 39 (41-43) cm. from beg. of work to shape the armholes decr. at ends, inside 2 sts., 2 sts. every 4 rows 10 times. When work measures 18 cm. from beg. of armholes bind off the 14 (18-22) rem. stitches. MAKE UP AND FINISH Sew up the shoulder. Pick up 58 (62-66) sts. around the neckline (not including the straight sections of the turn ups) then work in stock stitch for 9 cm.; bind off stitches. Sew up the sides. Bind and join the sleeves. Sew on the beads, jet and decorations alternating them as you prefer in groups of 3 rows at the ends and the centre of the neck.

SHAWLS

no. 4.50 in let net = 3.5 squares and 4 rows. WORKING INSTRUCTIONS Start work from the top edge. Cast on a chain of 243 sts. and, as from 11th chain on crochet hook, work in let net following the chart; at ends work in decreases every row and repeat as indicated until only 1 square remains. Break off and bind the yarn. MAKE UP AND FINISH Cut off 70 cm. threads and join them in groups of 12; knot them on the slanted edges and then knot in 1 fringe over each edge square.
