Gospel in Life: Grace
Changes Everything,
will be facilitated by Rev.
Jason Jones during Ignite
on Wednesday Nights
beginning Wednesday,
January 11th.
We will join author and
pastor Timothy Keller in
an eight-week video based
study of the gospel and
how to live it out in your
everyday life. Youll learn
how the gospel can change
your heart, your community,
and how you live in this
world.
Meals for our
Parker County
neighbors
On January 3, 4 and 5, our
church will be preparing and
serving meals to our neigh-
bors in need in East Parker
County. If you would like to
help, sign up in the narthex.
Without our Churches of
Hope, which includes prac-
tically every church in the
Aledo/Willow Park area, we
would not be able to provide
this service to our clients.

Recently I received a call from Prison Fel-
lowship concerning their Angel tree minis-
try. rough this ministry, an incarcerated
parent can request that a gi be given to
his/her child in the parents name. e
woman told me there were several children
in Parker County with a parent making
this request; did I think I could nd people
willing to provide a small gi? I told her I
thought I could and proceeded to share the
request with our Disciple 1 class and sent
an e-mail out to the UMW list.
e response was overwhelming! More
than 20 people oered to help. It turned
out only ve children were to receive gis
thought this ministry. But then I received
a request for gis for a few more children
whose parents recently nished their prison
sentences but were not able to provide a
Christmas for their children; could we
help? Aer talking to several of the rst
responders, we had the new list covered!
Shortly aer, we learned of several Weath-
erford children in need of Christmas, and
you guessed itwe were again able to nd
folks in our church family to surprise these
kiddos, too!
From that initial phone call, 23 children
in 10 families will receive gis this
Christmas, a tangible reminder of Gods
provision and Christian love. Many AUMC
families have given generously to the less-
fortunate during this holy season. Blessings
to all who chose to be the hands and feet
of Christ this Christmas!

e Nobel Peace Prize winner
and international icon of
reconciliation shares his vision
on why we can nd hope
and joy in the worlds darkest
momentsbecause we are made
for goodness and God smiles
upon us and blesses us when we
live up to this calling.
Archbishop Desmond Tutu
has witnessed some of the
worlds darkest moments, for
decades ghting the racist
government policy of apartheid
and since then being an
ambassador of peace amidst
political, diplomatic, and natural
disasters.Yet people continue
to nd him one of the most
joyful and hopeful people they
have encountered. In Made
for Goodness, Tutu shares his
secret.
Written with his daughter,
Mpho, Tutu begins with Jesus
parableof the prodigal son,
nding in the role of the waiting
father, who forgets this dignity
of what is justly his in order to
run and embrace his repentant
son, the best symbol for
understanding who God is.God
has made us for goodness, and
when we simply start walking in
the direction of this calling, God
is there to meet us, encourage
us, embrace us.So tackling
our worst problems takes on
new meaning and is bolstered
with hope and the expectation
that that is exactly where God
will show up.Be ready to be
transformed.

Church Angel
Kathy Mayotte
If youve enjoyed a breakfast
snack from the hospitality
table lately, make sure you
thank our church angel, Kathy
Mayotte! Kathy agreed to serve
our church by preparing the
hospitality table (started by
another angel, Mary Hart)
every week. She comes in early
to make sure it is ready for the
8:45am service, then restocks it
before the 11:00am service!
But Kathys generous service
isnt limited to this type of
hospitality; she has served on
many mission teams, from
junior high and high school
to adult mission trips, and she
oen subs in childrens Sunday
school classes.
anks, Kathy, for being a
faithful church angel!
