"Role of media"

1-Role of media in PakistanApril 29, 2010 Media in Pakistan "When complaints are freely heard, deeply considered, and speedily reformed, then is theutmost bound of civil liberty attained, that wise men look for."-- Milton No power on this earth can block the truth as it is God who, being the truth Himself, guardsit. Nowhere in history could the truth ever be suppressed, it always revealed itself in someother form and with dangerous consequences.British philosopher John Stuart Mill underlined the need for free speech mainly for threereasons. He believed that freedom to read or write is an important element to expose andreveal the truth, to ensure self-development and self-fulfillment of citizens and to help ensure participation of the citizens in a democracy. The Pakistani media is an enthusiastic member of the new warrior clan of the 21st centuryand despite belonging to war-torn country, is playing active role in keeping with the demandsof the modern times. By airing divergent views and engaging in cross questioning onsignificant national and social issues the media reflects and informs public opinion and practically shares the task of the parliament.Investigative reporting and live discussions can undermine the spell of many a magicians. This has facilitated public access to the hitherto unseen workings of the political and bureaucratic set-up while simultaneously highlighting the injustices suffered by the commonman as a result of the shady practices of the elite. After a significant role of media in restoring the judicial crisis, media has an unprecedentedability to act as a catalyst in civil society efforts to strengthen democratic polity. Thefundamental ingredient making democracy possible is the flow of information. The media (plural of medium) electronic, print, cyber and internet ensures this flow of information. If restricted, censored or hindered in any way the people will remain ignorant, ignorant of events, ignorant of their rights, their duty to the State, their needs and the role thatthey can play for the betterment of the society they live in and the country as a whole.Macaulay called the Press as Fourth Estate of the government, but the advent of technology the media has gained new dimension, great strength and very sharp transforming the presentage into information explosion. The media plays an extremely important role in transmitting the claims of social, economicand political movements to the decision-makers and the public. A free press and electronicmedia is an essential attribute today of a democratic polity because only these sources of information can keep not only information flowing freely but also help maintain a constantdialogue between the policy makers and the masses. 2-Media Role in Pakistan By Tariq Mehmood Khan

"Media role in pakistan"

Is Pakistani Media is playing its positive role in strengthening a democratic institutions in Pakistan? It is true that media in Pakistan has got freedom in recent years. Thanks to Musharraf that he gave an important place to media. Although, he had also curb the media yet it goes to his

credit that during his regime many Private channels were opened and they got so much popularity among the masses that all restrictions and ban on media were failed to prove any positive result for the government. Every Government has tried their level best to curb media but now it is out of control and now Media is in a good position to defend itself. The success of Long March to restore the Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry was also made possible due to media role. Although Media was banned to gavel coverage to judiciary yet for the sake of their business and mass interest forced them to give it media coverage. The Restoration of judiciary was the Hall Mark for media in Particular and people in General. In the eye of WAR on TERROR media has also played an effective role to make a public opinion against the style of War on Terror which has caused a great loss of Pakistan in men and material. President Asif Ali Zardari himself said that Pakistan suffered a loss of more than 300 million losses in this war. No other county has suffered so much as PAKISTAN and no other country can sacrifice as much as Pakistan. It shows Pakistan seriousness to Defeat Terrorist. There is a strong public opinion against Drone attacks in Pakistan, which is again thanks to Media that it has created awareness to the people to express their opinion to save their sovereignty. American Senators visit to Pakistan was not a good news for Pakistani. In a press conference John McCain said that Drone attacks is their legitimate weapon to Defeat Terrorism. Ads by Google

"Flood in pakistan"
The devastating flood in Pakistan had destroyed more than half of the economy of the country. The country which was already facing several other crises including terrorism, poverty, corruption, illiteracy has now hit by another challenge in the form of flood. At this crucial time ,the world has pledge to help Pakistan in any form . The flooding in Pakistan took many lives away and it was a devastating catastrophe that affected most of the country territory and that no one was expecting. Many people were killed by the flooding waters and others lost their homes and belongings. It was a really sad tragedy and the people couldnt do anything to stop it. When I saw the people who are homeless now, it made me realize how lucky I am, because I have a place where I can sleep at night, a warm and comfortable home. It also let me know, that your life can change suddenly at any moment. The flood water destroyed almost all communication routes, particularly, the bridges. Even the ones that were made of concrete and steel were swept away by the strong flood waters. The people, who survived, were desperate to go home, but they couldnt. Even worst, they didnt have any clean water to drink, because the water of the rivers wasnt drinkable. Fortunately, other countries came to help and brought supplies for the flood victims. Most of the time, they had to cross the river, but there were places where there was no boat. In the month of July Pakistan received below normal monsoon rains; however in August and September the country received above normal monsoon rains. A strong weather pattern entered the areas of Sindh from the Indian states of Rajasthan and Gujarat in August and gained strength with the passage of time and caused heavy downpours. The four weeks of continuous rain have created an unprecedented flood situation in Sindh.

"Terrorism"
Terrorism, until the recent attacks on the US, has remained a dormant issue in the media. Although it has been around for centuries, the organised use of violence to target noncombatants for political purposes, is one of the most effective ways to gain media attention. Mainly used by extremist groups in the hopes of gaining recognition for their cause (wether it is religious, political or otherwise.) Several attacks on the US have recently made headlines The attack on the USS Cole (October 12, 2000), US Embassy bombings in Kenya + Tanzania (August 7, 1998), Oklahoma City bombing (April 19, 1995) and finally the World Trade Centre bombing on February 27 1993. There were overt threats made to the US government regarding these attacks but most were dismissed as hoaxes. What we need to recognise about terrorism is its message. Attacks are always perfectly planned and precise, almost showing that they could do better. The most recent attack on America has been on the WTC and pentagon. Thousands of innocent people died because the Al-Quaida allegedly flew 3 passenger aircraft into both towers and crashed one into the pentagon, the USAs best-guarded facility. Hopefully these deaths were not in vein, now other countries have joined George Bush in the war against terrorism and are launching repeated strikes on Afghanistan (the Al-Quaidas supposed base.) They hope that these attacks will prevent any further events from happening. These attacks have in my view displayed that the Taliban can control the US economy and hit any target they wish, no matter how well guarded it is. Perhaps America should have been more cautious and handled the threats more carefully. Maybe they were being too proud and this is why the Taliban believe it is justifiable to kill innocents, or they chose to attack now because America was just feeling safe. Whatever the reason, we will never know. In 2002, the world changed forever. Anthrax, a biological weapon was released into the postal system and a commercial aircraft was turned into a 1000 tonne missile. War will have a new face, it will not be against an enemy firing projectiles, but instead, an invisible, deadly network of shadows attacking miscellaneous targets in random locations. This is why if we dont act quickly; the world could be cast into turmoil. So how do other people feel about this topic? This is how I think an Egoist would feel. The word egoist means that you are only concerned with things that may affect you in the long run. Terrorism definitely affects everyone in some way; wether you are a soldier or a shopkeeper. It may be economic, emotional, physical or political you will notice a difference in the world. Depending on which side of the fence the egoist is on would change his views. If he were attacking he would benefit from the land over-run. But if he were being terrorised he would be at a disadvantage and against it. If he were an arms manufacturer, he would profit therefore would be good for him. If the attack were in a far off country he probably wouldnt care. It is usually safer in peacetime than with terrorist attacks around you so I believe an egoist would only welcome terrorism if he gained more than he could loose. There are many variables that can alter a persons views on terrorism, one of which is wether you are dealing it or receiving it. A Kantians views rely very heavily on this factor. If he were attacking a country, firstly, he would need a good reason. Then he would need to decide wether it was his duty to help his comrades fight for their cause. If he were receiving the attacks he would need to choose wether to not retaliate or to do his duty and fight back.

A utilitarian makes decisions according to the greatest amount of happiness or the least amount of unhappiness produced. Terrorism never achieves anything except media coverage, hate and retaliation. A util would study both sides of the fight and see what is being fought over. He would sacrifice his life if it would cause more happiness so he would not be bias to one side. In the case of Al-Quaida vs. USA he would probably back the US because there was insufficient reason to

take all those lives and if no attack had been launched at all, no one would be dead. Although the Taliban would be unhappy with the US, the US has more innocent people than the Taliban has unhappy terrorists. In conclusion I would like to say that terrorism is a one-way road to destruction. It ultimately achieves nothing. As for fighting it, its been around since the dawn of time, cavemen probably terrorised each other. It wont stop now just because a few fools in Washington decided it should. Terrorism strikes us inside, not because of the things we have lost but because we know that we arent safe anywhere. So until the human race becomes peaceful, stops destroying itself and its environment, we need to live life to the fullest, like there is no tomorrow, because there may not be one.

"Role of women in society"

ROLE OF WOMEN IN SOCIETY Woman's Role in Our Society 1. Introduction 2. Education Necessary for men and women. 3. Role of women in our society as a mother, teacher, doctor. 4. Need for female education, 5. Status of women in Pakistan. 6. (1) Co education (2) Merits (3) Demerits (4) Islamic viewpoint. 7. A separate university for women. 8. Conclusion. It s a clear fact that no society can make progress without women education .That is why in Islam education is compulsory for both men and Women. Now women are not the second rate citizen of the society. Islam has given a very honorable place to women. The advance countries women are working side by side with men. Women are playing an active part in every field of life. They are working in college in schools factories offices and university. They have proved themselves, good doctors nurses and strong workers. It is their education which enables them to perform all such duties in a good way. About all women are nation builders. If they are well educated, they produced good citizens by training them well. But it is regrettable that our women especially of rural areas are uneducated. They work in field along with the farmers. For them there are no proper facilities. If we want to develop our society with the ornaments of education. By education the women we can produce better mother, better wives and better nation builders. Islam has given them a very high status so we should facilities them according to the Islamic principles. In most of the countries, there is co-educated system. It means the studying of boys and girls at the same institution. Their class rooms are common, play grounds and libraries are common. They are taught by the same teacher. They travel by the same buses. From this point of view this system is an obstacle. The advocates of this system say that in this way girls get ride of shyness. They know how to deal with men. It is /economical for poor countries like Pakistan. A healthy completion among girls and boys develops. They try to beat each other in fashion. Systems allow their daughters to red with the boys. Thus girls are deprived of their rights. The only solution to this problem is that there should be separate university for women. Now govt has all resources to open the separate university. So career for women may be bright, if they will be provided with facilities.

"The effects and causes of a happy life" "happy life"

The Effects and Causes of a Happy Life How many people are truly happy with their life? When you think of a happy life, you imagine that happiness has an unalterable effect. You may vision yourself with the perfect job, the faultless children, the gratifying husband or wife, the unblemished level of income, big house, and expensive car. You believe that all of these things will make you happy. However, this particular view is oblique. Material things cannot make us happy. These are three causes that can effect on your happy life: good health, love and having enough money for a wholesome living. First off, the most fundamental part of having a happy life is your health. Being healthy allows you to work and make money, and have all of the things you want. On the other hand, when you are not so healthy, you cannot accomplish or achieve your common goals. Also, when your health permits you from doing things that you want to do, you lose your potential and become a liability to your family members. It becomes a suffering in your whole life. Our health is everything. Whether you are a teenager, a child, or an adult having good health enables you to perform the daily functions of your life. For example, for adults a normal life allows them to be able to go to work, and to build character. For children, good health means being able to hang out with friends, and have fun. Good health allows you to enjoy a happy life. The second factor in having a happy life is love. When family members have love for each other, their life can be easier and happier. For example, when family has a love to each other, they can go places together and have open communication. They can share feelings, emotions, and reconcile differences. Don't be consumed by jealousy. This can do serious damage to a relationship. The poet Maya Angelou once said that jealousy is like salt. In small amounts, it can add spice to a relationship but too much is unhealthy. Don't take your relationships for...

"taget killing"
Fire of target killing has engulfed hundreds of people from every school of thought. Religious figure-heads, political leader and workers, engineers, professors, doctors, bureaucrats, even children of lower middle class have been killed with a target. Recent apocalyptic situation in Karachi, born after the demise of an MPA of MQM, is going to be uncontrolled. More than 50 people have been killed in the latest round of target killing in the southern city of Karachi even as the country observed on Saturday to protest the suicide attacks at Islamic shrine in Lahore. Police and security officials said at least 8 persons belonging different religious, political and social groups included a former councilor and an employee of the Sindh Assembly. About 850 people have been killed in target shooting in the last 8 months. Suicide attacks are also becoming a tool for target killing at massacre level. Karachi and Lahore are not the only crucibles for the germs of target killing; Balochistan is an other laboratory for these havoc experiments. Chairman Tehreek-e-insaaf Pakistan. Imran Khan said, the recent spree of target killing in Sindh and Balochistan is a preplanned conspiracy against Pakistan, while only judiciary could save a democracy in Pakistan. Karachi police has been politicized, he said, in Sindh it is need of the hour to extend real powers

to the police for eradication of violence in the city. Target killing have hit the Balochistan very hard and in this perspective separatists force is becoming stronger in the province, he noted. A target killing is backed by some foreign players. Alston, a New York University law professor, said the use of unmanned aerial vehicles by intelligence agencies such as CIA to carry out target killing in Afghanistan, Pakistan and elsewhere is particularly fraught because of the secrecy surrounding such operations. Although not illegal as such, CIA drone attacks are more likely to breach the rules of war than similar operations carried out by armed force, who are more familiar with international low and can support to non-lethal means because they have troops on the ground, Alston said. The perpetrators only want, Rehman Malik, Interior Minister said, to destabilize the nation. He narrated that the recent violence in Karachi is not just because target killing but due to the ongoing feuds between land mafia groups. MQM, a gift of General Zia, is one of the root causes of disturbances spread in Karachi. Karachi, before the inception of MQM was a city of lights but today it is a place of darkness. Roods are blacked, the bazaars are closed, and offices are out of work. The true reason behind is, what we call lust for power. MQM blamed ANP for target killing; ANP accuses MQM for lying, while Rehman Malik says a third element is involved. These target killing are not just limited to ANP and MQM, because other provinces are also not out of the heat of this fire. But Karachi has been reeling from violent seismic activity along its ethnic and political fault timesnot the collision of geological plates nearby. 4 days ago, armed Sindhi and Pashtun activists exchanged tit-for-tat murders in the middle class Gulshan-e-jouhar area. Since the start of this year, target killings have claimed the lives of 41 innocent people. Massive civil unrest in Karachi is an indicator of the strength of centrifugal tendencies inside multi-ethnic Pakistan, which has historically been deeply challenged in managing its diversity.
