Another Year is Dawning Another year is dawning, Dear Father, let it be, In working or in waiting, Another year with thee. Another year of progress, Another year of praise, Another year of proving Thy presence all the days. Another year of mercies, Of faithfulness and grace, Another year of gladness, The glory of thy face. Another year of leaning Upon thy loving breast, Another year of trusting, Of quiet, happy rest. Another year of service, Of witness for thy love, Another year of training For holier work above. Another year is dawning, Dear Father, let it be, On earth, or else in heaven, Another year for thee. -Frances R. Havergal

Warming Souls Join the Office of Respect Life and Social Justice in providing shelter to the Wichita areas homeless during the month of February in an effort called Warming Souls. Due to the Cathedral renovation, Holy Savior has graciously opened their facility to assist us in offering an evening meal, a warm place to sleep, and breakfast in the morning. If you or a group from your parish are interested in helping to provide food, or to give a donation, please contact the Office of Respect Life and Social Justice at 316-269-3935 or email grafa@catholicdioceseofwichita.org. A Meal in HIS Name St. Michaels new ministry A Meal in HIS Name will be every Thursday night. This meal will be for the people of Girard and the surrounding area. A hot, free meal will be served to all who come to St. Michaels Hall Thursday evenings from 5:30-7:00pm. Perhaps, this can be your niche in volunteering your time/talent/treasure to the church. The success of this ministry depends on your support. We need volunteers who can contribute a few hours weekly/monthly to help with shifts for cooking, set-up, greeting, serving & clean-up. To volunteer for this worthy ministry or to get more information contact Marita Lopeman at 620-362-3168 or the parish office at 620-7248717. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Advice for 2012 Resolve to be cheerful and helpful. People will repay you in kind. Resolve to listen more and talk less. No one ever learns anything by talking. Resolve to go to Confession soon to relieve yourself of any sins, venial or mortal, from your soul. Its the first step to get closer to Jesus. Resolve to receive the Holy Eucharist more often. Try a weekday Mass this coming week. Resolve to be a good model of the Catholic faith, so when people see you, they will get a positive view of your Church.

Looking For. We are looking for dedicated Catholic couples who would be willing to donate their time and talent to the youth of this parish by helping to teach the confirmation class this year. Please contact Nancy Bauer if you are interested. Poinsettias If you purchased a poinsettia in memory of a loved one, please pick it up after Mass this weekend. Thank you! The New Year: A New Beginning? A clean slate, thats what everyone gets with the passing of 2011 as a new year walks onto the stage of time. Were offered a dozen fresh months to leave the impact of our talents and efforts as Master 2012 toddles on stage, full of energy, and into our lives. Many persons will make resolutions for the new year, but will find them too difficult to live up to, and before long, many will be cast aside. However, these resolutions provide a guide for improvement, even if theyre given only an infrequent glance. Most of us will reach out to the New Year with an optimistic spirit. Today, that New Year is untarnished and unspoiled. Its not stretching a point too much to compare reflection on the past year to an examination of conscience, or resolutions to make amends. The Church offers the missing ingredient, absolution and Grace, FOR A REAL NEW BEGINNING. Wishing wont make it so. We, with the help of God, can!
