VidiCount

VIDEO BASED TRAFFIC COUNTER

Technical Data Summary

Dimensions Weight Power
Length: 4.5 Width: 4.25 Depth: 1.50 , , 10 Ounces Each VidiCount draws 65 mA at 12V DC from a 1 Amp 24 V external power supply converting from 120V AC or 240V AC. Power is usually obtained near the host device (PC or modem), and transmitted to the VidiCount through the Cat-5 cable along with the data run. In large networks power is added closer to the VidiCounts to reduce the effects of line loss. Interfaces with host device (PC serial port or modem) via RS232 standard. If there is more than 1 VidiCount RS485 protocol is used for communications and RS232 from the host must be converted to RS485 via a RS485 line powered converter. General Cabling Topology Power and data are sent through one 4-pair Category 5 plenum rated cable punched down via the T-568B wiring standard. All cable ends are terminated to standard PANDUIT Cat-5 network jacks and AMP RJ45 plugs. A home run cable is run from the host device to the left most VidiCount (as you look out of the store). Large Networks (Between 5 and 99 VidiCounts) Home run cables are run from a VidiCount Hub to each VidiCount or to a small daisy chain of VidiCounts. All home runs are connected together through a RJ45 patch panel that may also patch in the power to the VidiCounts. The data runs through short RJ45 to RJ14 whips that patch to a RS485 concentrator. Data from all VidiCounts run through the concentrator to the host via a RS232 serial connection or com port. Attaches to ball & socket joint for flexibility in angling unit. Ball and socket joint is attached to ceiling grid via mounting bracket, or using a toggle bolt for nonsuspended ceilings. For ceilings higher than 15 VidiCount may be mounted off a , bracket attached to the wall, or from a threaded rod dropped from above. Including mounting hardware, each unit will extend down 3 to 4 from the ceiling. For Optimal counting results, each unit should be mounted 6 -18 inside the door opening. Each VidiCount counts traffic in a doorway 10 -12wide, depending on mounting height. Greater heights (H) yield wider (W) coverage via the formula W = (H-45 x ) 1.83 7000 records. Database formats can be selected to log date-time stamped event records which are either individual events or interval summary records of: 1 minute, 15 minute, 30 minute, or hourly. VidiCounts differentiate direction of travel records in the database. Data is protected up to 1 month by a super-capacitor. In some configurations data may be polled from the units more than once to support disaster recovery. Units may be mounted between 8and 15above finished floor elevations. Operating temperature range is between 30 and 100 degrees F. Minimum lighting required is 200 lux measured 4above the floor. For optimal counting performance, area 4in front of the door should be kept clear of displays and merchandise. Metal housing may be painted any color. Units are CE/FCC certified. 03/02/2000
