Baby Wise TIPS

Newborn Stage: Birth 8 weeks -Feed every 2 - 3 hours -1st feeding ASAP after delivery: strive for 15 min per side, longer if possible -after week 1 or 2: after the late feeding (10 or 11pm) let baby sleep, but no longer than 5 hours -after week 1 start the feed, wake, sleep routine -Begin feedings around the same time every morning (with a 30 min window) -Between weeks 5 and 8 feed every 2 - 3 hours, either is fine but plan for an average of 8 feeding per day -naps can range from 1 1 hours -DO NOT go to a 4 hour schedule until baby is sleeping through the night Phase 2: 9 weeks 15 weeks -sleep at night can extend to 9 to 10 hours. Watch milk supply, pump at night -by the end of the 13th week, should avg 5-6 feedings per day, never less than 4 -3-5 months: 3 daytime naps between 1 - 2 hours each Phase 3: 16 weeks 24 weeks -may intro solid foods, nurse before solids -4 to 6 liquid feeding per day -sleeping 10 -11 hours per night Phase 4: 25 weeks 52 weeks -3 meals with optional 4th liquid feeding -2 naps ~1 - 2 hours each (will start around 6 months)
