Devil Dozer Introduction

"Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will." We beg to differ. It comes from well designed mechanisms as well. How else can you explain the powerful bulldozers lifting heavy debris and moving it around like it weighed nothing. The competition requires you to design such a mechanism and shift maximum number of balls to deposit zone. Easy?? Here comes the twist in the tale, your opponent can claim the balls you collected as well. You have only two options- Be dozed or become the Devil Dozer. Do you have what it takes to win this thrilling competition??

Task
Teams must build a manually controlled machine which can collect as well as deposit balls from its pit into the deposition pits and compete against another machine in a one on one knockout event.

Arena Specifications
1. The arena is of dimension 12 feet by 12 feet (lx b). 2. The arena is divided into two parts - zone A and zone B, one for each team. 3. Each zone consists of following A ball pit in which the balls would be kept at the start of the run Deposition pit 1 and deposition pit 2 in which the balls will have to be deposited A ramp in both the zones of the arena that ends on a common flat platform 4. The sides of the deposition pit 1 and ball pit will be surrounded by a wall of height 50mm. 5. The base of the deposition pit 2 will be inclined at an angle at which the ball will roll down into the other zone. 6. The maximum depth of the deposition pit 2 will be 50mm. 7. The balls will be of maximum diameter 7~8 cm.

Machine Specifications
Dimensions and Fabrication 1. The machine must fit within a box of dimensions 300 mm X 300 mm X 300 mm (lxbxh) at the beginning of the game. 2. The machine must be manually controlled. 3. Teams can use both wireless and wired remote controls for controlling the bot. 4. The external wireless/wired remote control used to control the machine is not included in this size constraint. 5. Teams must use an on-board power supply. 6. Machine cannot be constructed using readymade Lego kits or any readymade mechanism. But you can make use of readymade gear assemblies. Violating this clause will lead to the straight disqualification of the team. Power Supply 1. The machine must use an on-board electric or non-electric power supply. However the power supply must be non-polluting and must satisfy the safety constraints determined by the organisers. In case the machine is using a non-electric power supply, kindly get it approved from the organisers beforehand via email. Organisers are not responsible for inconvenience if approval is not sought. 2. In case of an electric power supply, the voltage at any point on an individual component must be lower than or equal to 24 V at any point of time during the game. Controls 1. The machine can be controlled by wired/wireless remote control mechanism at all stages of the game. 2. In case the participants are using a wireless controlled machine, they have to bring 2 remote controls of distinct frequencies or a dual-frequency remote control, which can be switched to either frequency just before the start of the run. This is done to avoid frequency interference with competing machines. 3. In case of wired mechanism of the machine, the wire must be slack at any point of time during the game. The total length of wire extending from the remote control to the machine must be minimum 3 meters.

Gameplay
The competition will consist of two round qualifying round and final round. Qualifying Round

1. In this round, the teams will have to collect the balls from the ball pit and deposit them in the deposit zone 2 only. 2. The maximum time given for the task is 2 minutes. 3. Top 32 teams will be selected on the basis of the number of balls deposited and will qualify for the final round. Final Round

1. It will be a one on one competition. Top 32 teams selected in the qualifying round will compete in this round. 2. The maximum time for the run will be 3 minutes. 3. In this round, the teams have to collect the balls and deposit them in the two deposition pits marked in figures 1 and 2. 4. For each ball found in the deposit zone at the end of the run after 3 minutes, respective points would be awarded on per ball basis. 5. The teams are allowed to take out balls from the opposite teams deposition pit 2 and use it to their advantage. They can use these balls to increase their score by putting into their respective deposition zones. 6. At the end of 3 minutes, the machine that climbs the ramp and rests on the flat portion, will be awarded an additional 100 points. However, the teams machine is not allowed to climb the ramp if the flat portion above the ramp is already occupied by the opponent teams machine. 7. At the end of 3 minutes, the team with maximum score will be adjudjed as the winner.

Rules( both for qualifying and final round)

1. At the start of the run, the teams must place their machine in the starting zone marked in the figures. 2. The machines cannot cross the wall which separates the two zones A and B. Crossing the line may lead to disqualification. 3. At no point of time, the teams must carry more than 5 balls.

4. A maximum of three restarts will be given to a team. During a restart, the teams will have to restart their machine by placing them back in the starting zone. 5. No penalty will be awarded for a restart. 6. During a restart, if the machine carries any balls, then the balls will be taken back and will be placed back in the balls pit. However, if the balls were collected from the deposition pit 2 of the opponent team and the teams opt for a restart then the balls will be placed back in the deposition pit 2 of the opponent team.

General Rules
1. The teams must adhere to the spirit of healthy competition. The teams must not damage the opponent's machine in any way. 2. Organisers reserve the right to disqualify any team indulging in misbehaviour or violating any rules. 3. Any team that is not ready at the time specified will be disqualified from the competition automatically. 4. The machine would be checked for its safety before the race and would be discarded if found unsafe for other participants and spectators. 5. The name of the machine must be prominently displayed on the machine. 6. Organisers decision shall be treated as final and binding on all.

Scoring
A teams score will be determined as follows for the final round Score = (D1 x 10 + D2 x 30) + B Where, D1 = Total number of balls deposited in Deposition Pit 1 D2 = Total number of balls deposited in Deposition Pit 2 B = 100 , if at the end of 3 minutes, the team stands in the central zone 0 , otherwise
