P ROFESSIONAL E XPERIENCE
I-COM, Milwaukee, Wisconsin (2008-Present) Community Planner / Town of Eagle, Village of Big Bend, Village of Hartland, and City of Milwaukee Manage planning and/or development projects for several communities. Assess project feasibility, conduct on-site inspections and create innovative plans that balance municipal needs with new and existing ordinances, requirements and environmental standards. Secure grant funding. Work with elected and appointed officials to build consensus and facilitate on-time project execution. Serve as staff advisor to Plan Commissions, Boards, Departments, and citizen groups on planning, zoning, environmental, and housing rehabilitation matters. Generate detailed reports, scopes of service, construction specifications, and design drawings. Selected accomplishments: Acted as City of Milwaukee Owner's Representative and liaison between city staff and housing rehabilitation construction crews Created a user friendly zoning code for the Town of Eagle (adopted in January 2010). CITY OF MILWAUKEE, Milwaukee, Wisconsin (1997-2004) City Historic Preservation Officer Preserved image, reputation and history of the City of Milwaukee by actively implementing Historic Preservation Ordinance through project planning and execution. Tackled preservation issues in alliance with elected officials, Preservation Commission, Common Council and other public entities. Liaised with federal and state agencies and officials. Developed work plans. Managed and allocated budget. Supervised personnel and introduced workforce and process changes to drive productivity and efficiency. Selected accomplishments: Positively influenced environmental performance by encouraging the reuse of buildings and materials, which minimized impact on landfills. Played integral role in garnering $2.5 million in private investment by reviewing over 250 requests for exterior improvements and approving viable options that aligned with historic district priorities. Demonstrated strong organizational and leadership skills by streamlining administrative and reporting procedures resulting in immediate and measurable improvements, such as a reduction in submission response times from 19.5 to 10 days. Eliminated three-year backlog of annual reports to the Wisconsin Historical Society, two-year backlog of Commission meeting minutes, and two-year backlog of applications for historic nominations. CITY OF BELOIT, Beloit, Wisconsin (1992-1997) City Planner / Historic Preservation Officer Managed all facets of historic preservation development, including the adaptive reuse of historic structures. Facilitated land acquisition (for urban renewal projects), as well as zoning and planning issue management. Performed environmental assessments. Participated in decision-making processes to enforce standards and contribute to sustainability. Reviewed architectural designs. Developed site plans. Selected accomplishments: Supervised and edited the creation of the illustrative Beloit Historic Preservation Rehabilitation Guidebook. Created architectural designs (floor plans, elevations, plumbing and lighting designs) to effectively and responsibly transition the Parker Mansion into five affordable housing units. Skillfully managed the Highway 81 Land Acquisition Team in acquiring 106 properties and relocating 26 residences for this major project.
