COMMANDERS CORNER

It is hard to believe we are starting a New Year, 2011 was a good year for our Post. The new location is starting to pay off, we are getting new customers. The city of Dilworth has been very friendly towards us as an organization/business. We are constantly striving for doing things better, if you have any concerns or ideas I am always willing to listen. Also I am very proud to say we were able to make a $500 donation to the Christmas for Crystal kids to help pay for presents. Currently we are planning to have a membership dinner; it has been several years since we have done this. Stay tuned for further information. We are also planning to have a Valentines event on the 11th of February, Dinner and maybe some music. Inclosing, I would like to thank all who have made this year successful for the VFW. I often get compliments about our organization and am always willing to promote our organization, however I cannot do this by myself, so thank you to the people who make our Post what it is. I cannot possibly list everyone but you know who you are. Lastly, Thank you to all members who served in Iraqi freedom, all combat troops have been withdrawn. The war is over. Job well done.

I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday Season. The board to post hospitalized members is hanging by the guest book, please take a moment to check it out when you stop by. Take a moment to send a card to our Sisters that are hospitalized. If you know of someone that is hospitalized please list their name or give me a call and I will put the name on the board. I hope you will consider joining us for a meeting, they are very interesting, it is a great time to hear about all the project s our Auxiliary is involved with. The meetings are the 2nd Thursday at 7:00. If you would like to volunteer to help out there are several opportunities. We host bingo at the VA hospital once a month, we work with the Jr. Girls Unit, and we cook and serve home cooked dinners every Wednesday night. Just let me know what you would be interested in helping with. If you have not paid your dues for 2012 this is the last newsletter you will receive and your cancer insurance has been discontinued. If you would like to continue to receive the newsletter and get your cancer insurance reinstated you need to get your dues paid. The renewal fee is now $20. I hope you all take a few minutes today to get your dues in the mail. Would you like to receive the newsletter via email rather than mail? Send me your email address and we will get you on the list, Karen@gomoorhead.com. My goal is to get save enough money from printing and postage to go back to sending the newsletter out monthly. MENS AUXILIARY PRESIDENTS CORNER by Joshua Haugen
I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas, it was one for the record books that's for sure. I don't know many people that are complaining about the wonderful weather we have been having. I would like to thank everyone who came out and helped with the Kids Christmas Party at the club. I found it to be a huge hit and I look forward to helping out in the upcoming years. Santa and Mrs. Clause were wonderful! It was great way to kick off the Holiday Season. I challenge ALL the Men's auxiliary members to make a pot of chili for the Chili Cook-off on February 4th! I would also like to remind everyone of our pancake breakfasts we have the 3rd Saturday of every month from 8am to 11am. The cost is $5 a plate with kids 5 and under are free. I wish everyone a happy up coming year, let's all hope the flooding is behind us for several years to come. Sincerely, Josh Haugen 701-261-4763

CLUB NEWS by Crystal Hughes

Well here we are into another New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!! We will be starting it out at the club by having Syl's Third Annual Breakfast on Sunday January 1st, 2012 from 7a.m. - 11a.m. Also in January for our Poker Players we will be going back to Tuesday evenings starting January 31st. It will start at 7p.m. and as before will go for 5 weeks with the top six players playing off the 6th week for prizes. Come join in on the fun and meet some new friends. Stop by the club for our daily drink specials and get your Crystal card punched. For the New Year kick back and let us do the cooking for you. On Monday nights we have our great burgers and fries, Tuesday night we have our Terrific Taco's for $1.00 and for a small extra amount try the Taco Salad or Nachos, they are Terrific. Wednesday nights the Ladies Auxiliary serves a home cooked meal and on Thursday nights we have our great steaks. If you have not tried any of these as of yet, you are missing out. And on Friday, Saturday or Sunday you can order off the menu or have a pizza from the bar. We are again bringing back our Valentine's Day Dinner, which will be held on Saturday February 11th. You will have your choice of Walleye, Steak or Shrimp. Included with your meal will be a baked potato, salad, vegetable and roll, you will also have your choice of a drink. The cost for all of this is only $38.00 a couple if you make your reservation early or it will be $40.00 at the door. If you don't have a date still come price is $20.00. It will be served from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Starting at 8 p.m. and going until 11 p.m. you can dance to the music of Lone Wolf.
