Transaction EWZ5 allows us to lock a large number of users at once. The benefit of using transaction EQZ5 instead of transaction SU10 is that it will save the users you locked and left unlock to refer to later. A typical scenario of when to use EWZ5 is when the Basis team requires all users except a certain group of users (e.g., Basis and Security Teams) to be locked temporarily from a particular system due to an upgrade, copy, install, conversions, etc. Once users that were locked are ready to be unlocked by the Security team, users can be unlocked through a click of a button. The steps below outline how to lock users through transaction EWZ5:
1. Go to transaction EWZ5 EMU Conversion: Lock and Unlock Users 2. Click the Choose User button.
On this screen youll see a number of buttons show up that you could use:
Select All Deselect All Sort by Name Sort by Group Sort by Type

This can make it easier to select users. For example, you can sort by user group and select only users under Basis and Security. Users you select are users you DO NOT want to lock. These users will be labeled as Euro Administrators 3. Once youve selected all users you wish to not lock, click the Save button. 4. Your selected users are now saved. When you are ready to lock the users, go ahead and click the Lock Users button
5. You will now see a screen indicating that the users have been locked succesfully
6. When users that were locked are ready to be unlocked, simply click the Unlock Users button Note: When unlocking users, the program will only unlock users that have been locked through transaction EWZ5. Users that were locked by the security administrator, through unsuccessful attempts, and other means will not be unlocked through this. Hope this helps. - SAP Security Help
