Maruti Suzuki India Limited

Maruti Suzuki India Limited a partial subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan, is India's largest passenger car company, accounting for over 45% of the domestic car market. The company offers a complete range of cars from entry level Maruti 800 and Alto, to hatchback Ritz, A star, Swift, Wagon-R, and sedans dzire SX4 and Sports Utility vehicle Grand Vitara. Maruti Suzuki is India and Nepal's number one leading automobile manufacturer and the market leader in the car segment, both in terms of volume of vehicles sold and revenue earned. It was the first company in India to mass-produce and sell more than a million cars. It is largely credited for having brought in an automobile revolution to India. It is the market leader in India and on 17 September 2007, Maruti Udyog Limited was renamed to Maruti Suzuki India Limited. The company's headquarters are located in New Delhi. Maruti Udyog Limited (MUL) was established in February 1981, though the actual production commenced in 1983 with the Maruti 800, based on the Suzuki Alto kei car which at the time was the only modern car available in India, its only competitors- the Hindustan

Ambassador and Premier Padmini were both around 25 years out of date at that point.

Sanjay Gandhi owned the Maruti Technical Services Limited, which ran into trouble and was liquidated. After the death of Sanjay Gandhi, the Indira Gandhi government assigned a delegation of Indian technocrats to hunt for a collaborator for the project. Initial rounds of discussion were held with the giants of the automobile industry in Japan including Toyota, Nissan and Honda. Suzuki Motor Corporation was at that time a small player in the four wheeler automobile sector and had major share in the two wheeler segment. Suzuki's bid was considered negligible.

INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS :
For most of its history, Maruti Udyog Limited had relatively few problems with its labour force. Its emphasis of a Japanese work culture and the modern manufacturing process, first instituted in Japan in the 1970s, was accepted by the workforce of the company without any difficulty. But with the change in management in 1997, when it became predominantly government controlled for

a while, and the conflict between the United Front Government and Suzuki may have been the cause of unrest among employees. A major row broke out in September 2000 when employees of Maruti Udyog Ltd (MUL) went on an indefinite strike, demanding among other things, revision of the incentive scheme offered and implementation of a pension scheme. Employees struck work for six hours in October 2000, irked over the suspension of nine employees, going on a six-hour toolsdown strike at its Gurgaon plant, demanding revision of the incentive-linked pay and threatened to fast to death if the suspended employees were not reinstated. About this time, the NDA government, following a disinvestments policy, proposed to sell part of its stake in Maruti Suzuki in a public offering. The Staff union opposed this sell-off plan on the grounds that the company will lose a major business advantage of being subsidised by the Government. Maruti providing two types of car.. 1. ABOUT KIZASHI 2 February, 2011 - Small car wizard Maruti Suzuki launched its much awaited premium saloon,Maruti Kizashi in the market today at a price of 16.5 lac (for MT) and 17.5 (for AT). The deliveries of the same will begin in March this year and the booking amount has been kept at Rs. 50,000 only. The fuel efficiency guaranteed in Maruti Kizashi is 12.53 kmpl (AT) and 12.45 kmpl (MT). Powered by a 2.4 L, four cylinder engine, Maruti Kizashi would be available in both automatic and manual transmission. Maruti Kizashi is a sports sedan which is powered by a 2.4 litre DOHC JSeries engine. The D-segment car's powertrain is capable of producing peak power of 178 PS at 6,500rpm. The maximum torque from the engine is 230Nm at 4,000rpm in both type of transmission. Maruti Kizashi is available in Japan and the US standard with Front Wheel Drive and optional All Wheel Drive. The optional i-AWD system includes a driver-activated Front Wheel Drive mode in view to save petrol. It is equipped with 17 inch alloy wheel. The steering wheel has three spokes and electronically powered. The suspension system used is Macpherson strut and coil springs front and rear one would be multi-link type. Maruti Kizashi is to compete with Honda Accord and Toyota Carmy in India. The recently launched Maruti Kizashi is reported a little shorter than Honda Accord and Toyota Carmy but wider than latter. aruti Kizashi is a Japanese word that stands for 'a sign of great things to come'. And the new title is true with the design and features what the Maruti Kizashi has. The rear view of the car becomes more sporty with twin exhaust system. The rear side is also bigger and attractive as well. Fit and finish also represents the quality work done at front and rear side of the Maruti Kizashi. The D segment sedan comprised of luxurious interior features and design. The front and rear windshiels are wider which promise sufficient vision for both sides. Apart from this, the car is expected to have 8 airbags (front, rear and curtain), pushbutton keyless start, power steering, windows and mirrors, Dual-zone climate control, EPS Stability control and ABS, projector beam headlamps etc.

It has latest features, which may attract customers. 4. It can increase the goodwill of the maruti Suzuki. 5. It has sporty stylish look. 6. It also has powerful engine of 2393 cc.

WEAKNESS:
1. It has less headroom and legroom at rear seat. 2. It is not possible to drive it in small ways. 3. It is too cosltly for maruti sedan. 4. Its look a bit like a sx4.

OPPURTUNITIES:
1. It can replace other cars like skoda laura etc. 2. It could be the king of car markets. 3. It give lots of profit to maruti in its initial stage. 4. It open doors to luxury segment for the company.

THREATS: 1. Its high cost may decrease its sale. 2. There are lots of competitors of kizashi in market. 3. It is the product of japan,it may affect its sale.
