Responsibl e for seven units and 220 beds. Managed Nursing Department operational budget. Selected Accomplishments: * Developed their outpatient oncology department. * Researched with Senior Management and Chairperson of Medicine to develop a bu siness plan to create an 18 bed Stroke/Telemetry unit the first in Passaic Count y. * Acquired from Joint Commission Primary Stroke Certification in May 2007 and R ecertification in May 2009. * Collaborated with Teaneck Visiting Nurses to establish a four (4) bed Hospice unit on the Inpatient Oncology unit. Developed protocols for the ER staff on ho w to manage Hospice patients in the ER to prevent admission. * Appointed as Director with Chairperson of Cardiology on Core Measures Committ ee and increased Influenza and Pneumococcal vaccine rates from 76% to 90%. * Analyzed fall rates that were beyond ANA benchmark and drew up a capital budg et to change to Hill Rom beds that had call lights installed in the side rails v ersus behind the patient on the wall. Facilitated this process over three years/ one division per year-Med-Surg, Maternal Child and Critical Care. * Chaired Lift Committee comprised of nurse managers and lift consultants to ad vise what lift products best fit each clinical unit. * Improved productivity by working with nursing supervisors to zero variance in January, 2010. * Worked with CNO and Director of Education to launch relationship-based care m odel on Med-Surg and Maternal Child units along with Jean Watson's Caring Theory , working with cross-functional interdisciplinary teams and families. Forecasted that Model would need more RN's and was approved by Senior Management to go for ward. Implementation resulted in a 30% increase in Press Ganey scores. * Obtained Joint Commission Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) certification in Feb ruary. In collaboration with interdisciplinary team; developed teach-back patien t education including a refrigerator magnet with CHF patient education written i n Spanish and English to take home as reinforcement.

* Facilitated Transforming Care at Bedside model to improve staff participation in resolving bedside quality issues. * Won grant from Robert Wood Johnson (RWJ) which allowed staff to develop and i mplement bedside report; decreased overtime by 20 percent in three months. 2002 -2004 BAYONNE MEDICAL CENTER, Bayonne, NJ Director, Oncology Services and Patient Services Budget Bayonne Medical Center is a 278-bed acute care, medical surgical facility. Respo nsible for all inpatient and outpatient oncology services as well as all patient care services budgets. Selected Accomplishments: * Implemented Partners in Practice Model for staff and nurse managers in Teleme try, Oncology and two Med-Surg units, creating environment with strong emphasis on teamwork. * Coordinated with the medical director of Radiation Therapy and breast surgeon to start the Mammosite procedure for women with breast cancer after a lumpectom y. * Appointed Performance Improvement team leader of the Tumor Node Metastasis (T NM) staging process committee. * Led interdisciplinary team meetings in all inpatient units, decreasing length of stay, improving documentation system for all nurses, enhancing collaboration between all disciplines and increasing patient satisfaction. * Initiated variance report for all nurse managers to use in a monthly report t hat analyzed vacancies and decreased the use of contract personnel. * Using Jean Watson's Caring Model as a guideline, implemented a program which allowed patients receiving chemotherapy in the outpatient setting to put togethe r jigsaw puzzles which were then framed and displayed as artwork in the departme nt. 1989 - 2002 RAHWAY HOSPITAL, Rahway, NJ Nurse Manager (1993 - 2002) Rahway Hospital is a 267-bed acute care, medical surgical facility. Selected Accomplishments: * Administered the cancer care business plan for the first cancer outpatient de partment. Operational revenue $51,000 first year. Initiated a cable television c ommercial to market new program. * Served as Co-Chair for newly created Research Committee, collaborated with th e University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey to serve as their Instituti onal Review Board (IRB). * Led restraint and pain Joint Commission Accreditation Organizational Teams (i ncluding MD's, RN's pharmacist, and physical therapist) while delivering peer-re view policies/procedures, scientific posters, abstracts, house-wide quality data collection. * Launched pain rounds that reduced patient's pain from a scale of 10 to 2 or 1 . * Reduced costs 50 percent for diabetic patients by creating a hypoglycemia pro tocol. * Effectively managed $6 million operating budget and reduced supply cost 18 pe rcent. * Researched and developed business plan for a 16 bed Sub Acute unit due to Rah way Hospital having had a long term license. * Increased by 50 percent the number of oncology RN's achieving Oncology Nursin g Certification (ONS), a professional certification. * Increased patient satisfaction rates from 77 percent to 92 percent.
