The palm-top indicator-simulator series MicroCal are multifunction instruments designed to check and calibrate your test and process equipment. MicroCal cali- brators meet, in a modern and practical way, the everyday needs of Quality and Maintenance instrumentation engineers, both in laboratory and fleld work. Accurate, compact, rugged, easy to use; the ideal solution for measuring and sim- ulating: millivolts, volts, milliamperes, ohms, thermocouples and resistance thermometers. Eurotron palm-top calibrators have been developed using the most advanced mi- croprocessor technology to grant high accuracy on extended ranges and a pow- erful operating flexibility. The modular firmware includes the algorithms for ther- mocouples and resistance thermome- ters in accordance with IEC, DIN and JIS standards. Both IPTS68 and ITS90 tem- perature scale are memory stored and can be selected using the keyboard. A unique internal automatic Rj compen- sation system providing the accurate input and output readings in a tem- perature range from -5°C to +50°C. Further, external compensation is avail- able with temperature programmable from -50°C to +100°C. The simulation- measurement of resistance and temperature with resistance ther- mometers uses a special pro- prietary active circuit (Eurotron Patent

to source a single step value; to pro- gram up to 7 simulation programs using up to 60 values; and to source pro- grammable loops (start, step, end values and time), using menu-driven procedures. The instruments can mathematically filter unstable input signals, convert linear sig- nals in technical units and linearize qua- dratic signals. Selection of the operating function is made using a rugged membrane key- board which assures up to one million operations per key. MicroCal use two special thick film membrane “slidewires” to set the simulated signal value. Measured or simulated value is indicated on a high quality alphanumeric LCD dot matrix display which provides good con- trast even in poor lighting conditions. The instrument is powered by four Ni-MH rechargeable batteries; an external battery charger is supplied as standard accessory.

Quality System Research, development, production, in- spection and certification activities are defined by methods and procedures of the Eurotron Quality System. Eurotron Quality System has been inspected and certified for compliance to lSO 9001 by Gastec, a Dutch notified body.

Five models MicroCal palm-top series include 5 dif- ferent calibrators to select the instru- ment more suitable for each specificy laboratory and/or field applications. High accuracy and stability are the key and important technical specifications.

Display & Keyboard The high contrast alphanumeric LCD display with dot matrix (7x5 dots per character - 16 characters) allows easy reading even in poor light conditions. Simultaneous indication of the mea- sured or simulated value, engineering unit, type of sensor or signal, temper- ature scale and Rj mode. MicroCal 2+, the 2 channels calibrator, has a 2 line back lighted LCD display for simulta- neous reading of input and output sig- nals. A metal-click tactile polycarbonate membrane keyboard ( MicroCal 1+ MAV, MicroCal 2+ and MicroCal 10+), with a working life of one million op- erations per key, seal the internal elec- tronics from the surrounding environ- ment. Contact closure of the mem- brane keys is acknowledged, as a coded signal, directly by the micro- processor. Two thick film membrane “slidewires” (patent pending) allows the quick and an easy setting of the simulation value.

Source & Measure thermoelectric signals Each instrument, through a menu-driven procedure, allows measurement or sim- ulation of mV, mA, or any normalised IEC, DIN and JIS thermoelectric sensor

Simulation programs Menu-driven simulation program set up to generate:

• a continuous or step ramp output where the total time, the start point, the end point and the size of the step are requested by the set-up procedure to run the program;

• a continuous programmable cycle (rise, soak, fall);

Note:

• The relative accuracies shown are stated for 360 days and operative conditions from +18°C to +28°C (+64 °F to +84°F).

• Tc’s relative accuracies are stated with 0°C external Rj sets.

• Typical 90 days relative accuracy can be estimated by di- viding the “% of rdg” specifications by 1.8.

• Typical 2 year relative accuracy can be estimated by multi- plying the “% of rdg” specifications by 1.5.

• All input ranges: additional error ±1 digit.

• Eurotron traceability chart and uncertainty can be supplied on request
