RESEARCH BACKGROUND * Nanochemistry of Materials: Preparing, characterizing, and assembling novel na noscale materials such as graphene and its derivates, one-dimensional metal nano particles and metal oxide nanowires. * Nanoscale Surface Chemistry: Modifying, patterning, and charactering various s urfaces with numerous chemical molecules by Microcontact Printing (CP) on the mi crometer scale, or by Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM) on the nanometer scale. * Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM): Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and Scanning Tu nneling Microscopy (STM) in ambient, low-temperature, liquid, and UHV environmen ts, in contact, tapping, friction, phase, and conductive modes. PROFESSIONAL EMPLOYMENT HISTORY 2007-2010 Research Scientist (U.S. National Research Council Research Associates hip Awardee) at U.S. Naval Research Laboratory * Converted graphene oxide by thermal Dip-Pen Nanolithography (tDPN) into GRAPHE NE at the nano scale. Published (as the first author) the results in SCIENCE, th e world leading journal of original scientific research. Results highlighted and reviewed by numerous media such as Chemical &Engineering News. * Produced, assembled, and characterized the recently-discovered nanomaterial GR APHENE, which is expected to replace silicon in the next-generation electronic i ndustry; Published (as the first author) the results in NANO LETTERS, the leadin g scientific journal in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology.
